OCR00945 - Metal Gear Solid 2 "Big Shell West Bristol"
endblink replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Usually, I try not to resort to foul language when reviewing something, but I must be truthful. The only thing going through my head right now is: WOW! THIS IS FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC! djp nailed this one on the head: I would SWEAR this was a Portishead ReMix. In fact, I have a feeling this will be popping up on P2P programs in the near future as "Portishead - Metal Gear Solid 2 Remix" (mark my words). It sounds THAT good. Hell, it sounds BETTER than some of Portishead's work! And that's saying A LOT. Nice feel, nice sounds, nice lyrics. Recorded a little low if you ask me. Would have liked the piece a little louder all around, but fortunately, that's what the volume knob is good for. Never played MGS2, but would love to now JUST to hear this song and hear the difference in the mix. Wanna know the sign of a good mix? When it plays well under repeated back to back listenings. I think I've looped this one 8 or 9 times now, and it's STILL incredible. Download this NOW. You won't regret it. -
OCR00941 - Rygar "Trippin' on Snails"

Wow. This is just... wow. Mazedude continues to impress the hell out of me. Nice jazz sound, which is an altogether under-represented genre here, cool piano, dig that "pause" at 1:16. GREAT finish. Very cool tune. -

You're very welcome.

OCR00936 - Crazy Comets "Komet Non-Stop"

WOW. This is awesome in it's cheesy retro-ness. All you 80's fans need to download this. Sonically impressive, humourous (to me) due to the vocals, and a pretty bad ass tune over all, I think you'll all dig this one a lot. -
Heh heh. It's okay. No worries. Oh, and you don't have to write in CapsLock.
-
You can search on Google, or alternatively, you can create a Geocities account to host your pics.
-
Actually, the site is forbidding remote linking. I'm seeing a big red X, and a "Forbidden" screen when I click that link. You'll need to find another place to store the pic.
-
Yup. And a very nice one at that.
-
Both working! Good job, MisterNoisy and OmegaPhoenix128!

Red X

Yahoo Groups are designed to prevent remote linking. They change the location of the image URL. You'll see it here for about an hour, then you'll get the red X. Believe me. I've tried working around Yahoo. Not possible.

Vigilante, I think your sig kicks ass. Good job on getting it to work though!

Well, your problem is that it's a jpg under a geocites account. Please read through the thread again carefully. This gets answered a few times already.

OCR00928 - Alisia Dragoon "Halls of Abandonment"

Heh heh. "Andywho". That brings back memories. Congrats LastUnicron on getting your OCR ReMixer badge. You know I dig this mix. -
Hmm... it looks like you did everything right. The only thing I can think of is that you exceeded your Geocities bandwith for now. My only other suggestion is to make sure the file itself is all small caps. Also, make sure the file name is the right one.

I dig it Jive. Nice, hardcore techno. But I must say... why does everyone hate the fade out? I like fade outs. They add variety. Some songs stop on a dime, others fade out. I likes me the fade out.

Wow. How much does it suck that we lost JAXX? That kid's crazy on his guitar. Shame. Great mix, by the way. -
OCR00925 - Final Fantasy IV "A Chocobo's Mystic Life"
endblink replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Just noticed this, but I love the part that sounds like the old Mary Tyler Moore Show: "You're going to make it after all!" at around 2:24. That's two mixes I noticed that did that. Weird. -

Wow. This ReMix got a sub-par, completely distracted write up. But don't let it fool you! This song totally kicks ass. Not to keen on the choice for the ending, but this is a great song. It's ONE HUNDRED MEGATONS OF HAPPY in 2 minutes, 37 seconds! Play this back-to-back with dabombinc.'s DABOMB OC ReMix and just TRY to not smile. Not possible. Unless you have no heart... or you're Margret Thatcher. Nice flutes, interesting variations to the traditional melody and a dancable beat (yes, I gave the feet the ol' test run with this one). A must for anyone who likes smiling. -
OCR00922 - Chrono Trigger "A World Awaits Chrono"
endblink replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Heh heh. Thanks, we know. It was in djp's original write up. Okay. Coolest part of this mix is the "CD skipping" effect J:/Drive used. That blows me away. Also, the ending from about 4:19 till the end is to die for. I did have some issues with a few notes here and there I felt were a little... off. Things where I understood the choices made, but felt they were a little jarring, mostly in the bridge. But those are drops in a bucket of goodness. Cool effects, good original tune, great song. Definitely recommend this one. -
Been waiting for this. Very pleased. Love that flute in the beginning, such a nice touch. That scream? I liked it. Thought it worked nicely. What I'm still not to sure about is the siren. Fortunately, it's in and out. Took me a listen or two to determine if I really liked it. I decided that it wasn't that bad... but something more could have been done with it. I think the ending was fine. Big punch, ends with the flute. Good stuff. My favourite part about it was the callback to the opening music of Streets of Rage 1. I'm glad djp pointed that at. I didn't know if that was the original track or a choice by Rayza, but the fact that it was in there makes this song really cool. Good stuff, overall.

OCR00919 - Bahamut Lagoon "Dragons of Paradise"
endblink replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Eech. Some pretty harsh critisism here. Well, allow me to be the first to say that I LOVE this mix. It's got a wonderful sound, very soothing, ambient, but retains the ability to rock out. Some nice sound effects throughout, kick ass drums and a really cool lead synth. Never played the game, never heard the original, but this is just hella good music. I have to assume this song is from a stage in the game when you're flying, 'cause I'm definitely getting a flying vibe listening to this. The only thing I could suggest about this mix: I wish it was longer. The ride's over way to quickly in my humble opinion. Let's hope PxFury decides to offer an extended version of this mix. It's that good. . Wonderful mix. Highly recommended. -
OCR00918 - Radical Dreamers "Interdit"
endblink replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Nice. Very smooth. I'm glad part of the "Far Promise" ditty is in there... I'm addicted to that tune. Very eligant and only gets better with repeated listenings. -
Okay. I get it.You've got it in a Yahoo briefcase folder. You probably used Netscape to copy the image location and cut and pasted it into your sig. I forgot about Yahoo. The reason we WERE able to see it but can't now is that Yahoo puts bans on remote linking. They change the address of your image every two hours or so. If you look at the image location NOW and compare it to the image location you have HERE, it more than likely will not match. You can't use Yahoo if you want to remote link a file. Post back here if you have any more problems.
