  1. Yeah, i'm gonna touch up the song a lot more. I've noticed a few things after hearing it a few more times. Glad your enjoying it though.
  2. Hey man, don't fret for i am here!!! And was a deliberate guitar reference. Sorry, wasn't sure how to open my response. Anyways, i'm a guitarist. Here's my latest remix i'm working on as an example of my work:
  3. Alright, here's the revised 4TH version of my mix. I think it addresses a lot of the problems mentioned by everyone and hopefully will be a step up from the last mix.
  4. Thanks Nutritious! I need to fix those and see how it sounds.
  5. Well, i'll see what a Mod thinks of this cause i might sub a song after not doing so for so long now.
  6. Nice job man. I love badass metal remixes! The production sounds tight enough. My only one complaint is that the leads are very quiet, especially in the beginning and sometimes panned almost to one side all the time. I think messing around with the volume would solve this. Also, sometimes the drums sound a bit overpowering, especially in terms of volumes. Try just lowering them a tad. Your guitar playing on the other hand is sweet. Very nice job on that. That blast beat part around 3:00 was insane and unexpected, lol. I think just working on those few things would make this sound even more badass! BTW, are you using superior drummer? Just curious.
  7. Yeah, i noticed that after you mentioned it. I added some better quality delay to the leads and they seem to flow nicer now and also re-recorded the clean guitars again. I noticed the delay i had on them was throwing them off sync. They should be good now.
  8. Ok, here's my 2nd update finally. This should be a huge improvement over the first. Of course, the main change here is the update. Also, the intro has been redone slightly to note be so close to the source. I also redid the clean guitars during the 2 quiet breaks in the song. It follows more of what the guitar plays on the last part of the song with the distortion. I also kinda tweaked the snare. I'm trying to get a good snare sound without it being too thin. Let me know what ya guys think? Thanks.
  9. Yeah, sorry guys, i've been meaning to upload a newer WIP, but my life has been completely ridiculous lately..anyways, in a little bit after work i'll upload it finally!
  10. Yeah, i wish i had an actual bass guitar to record the bass parts. OH WELL! I do eventually plan on buying one, but you know how that goes. The reason this was even made into a full song is because of the intro. I was just messing around and we thought it had some potential. ALL of the guitar you hear in this song are live. Clean, rhythm, and all solos. I'm glad you enjoyed the rockin parts though! The whole point, obviously was to have a slow, but, very enjoyable buildup throughout the song. I really only wanted to write a much shorter song involving the intro. Also, if you do like this stuff, visit my reverbnation page cause i've got my last original album up on there. Its a little more rockin so i think you'll enjoy it more. There's a link to it in my sig.
  11. Thanks Kenogu, i should've really listened to it at a higher volume than i did last nite, lol. I'm working on it now and i'll upload it in a little bit.
  12. So here's my Mega Man Battle Network 3 N1 grand prix battle theme remix. Damn, that's a long title! I feel this is almost finished, but i really need some advice to polish it off. I usually do straight out metal remixes of songs, but i feel that's sometimes a little overboard. I spent a lot of time on this over the past couple weeks and really trying to nail it down. My hope is that one day, i make a remix worthy of this fine website. Source : Remix:
  13. Hey man, i'm loving this remix. I'm glad you finished it up cause its very worth while. Its a little different take on the theme and i like it. I'll post more of a review when i've got more time, i just wanted to let you know i'm loving this mix.
  14. Alright, that's coool. Thanks guys. I didn't know Pro Tools needed specific hardware to work. I suppose that would be the better option anyways, just for quality's sake. Although, quality would really come down to how long i wanna spend getting a track to sound "good". I'm definitely gonna check out Cubase and looks into Adobe Audition also.
  15. The sound that's fading is just a drum beat playing a few measures. I hear the phaser too along with the filter, but i guess i'm specifically looking for how to fade in the EQ like that. I wish i could think of a better example. I believe in techno they use this effect sometimes.
  16. Yeah, its kinda hard to describe. I suppose its some kinda ambient rock song. Its very soothing. I suppose it like such bands as Ayreon, Pagan's Mind, Sonata Arctica, and the like, then you'll like this song. Its a nice, slow, enjoyable song for the most part. The middle gets a little heavy with the solos and such. It starts off with a very nice calm and almost floating melody. By which i mean its kinda like floating through space or in an underwater city looking out a window and wondering. Then continues on for a while slowly building up the interlude/solo section of the song. Finally it finishes off on a slow and quieting decent. I'm hoping you guys like it.
  17. Hi, i'm looking for an effect, or even a particular way, to fade in a track. I'm fairly certain its an EQ effect, but i'm not sure how to go about doing. Or if there is a vst that will do it for me. Here's an example. Pay no attention to the song, i just like metal and its the first song i could think of off the top of my head to show what i'm talking about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HY_B0fQ4DDg Please let me know, cause i've been wanting to figure this out for some time now and can't get my head around it. Thanks guys!
  18. So, i've decided its time to start looking around for a better DAW than mixcraft 5 finally. I personally think mixcraft 5 is an excellent program, but i feel that sometimes i should be able to do more than i can with mixcraft. I know of some others out these such as Cubase, Pro tools, and the like, but i'm looking for opinions on what would be a better upgrade for my music production needs. For the most part i do rock/metal songs, but i've been getting a lot into using Eastwest and some other fine vst's and find that sometimes mixcraft is picky with them. This is especially true with my Ezdrummer program i use for all my drums. Here's an example of something i can create within mixcraft: Now, its decent, i think, but certain things like velocities are hard to control in mixcraft. Even sometimes writing out the vst tracks can be a pain. Changing little things like pitches, expression, and velocity take some time. I'm willing to put in a good deal of a time to make a song sound good, don't get me wrong. On the other side, i've used FL Studio with some success, but i suppose i should really delve deeper into the program. I write a lot of original video game music and always that FL Studio would be a good choice for that.
  19. So yeah, how's this coming along guys?
  20. Yeah, i can incorporate that into the song. About how long of a song do you want?
  21. Hmmm....i might have something for ya. How soon do you need it?
  22. Yeah, there's a demo HERE. Or you can check out the other vsts they make also HERE. To be honest though, i haven't used or tried any of their other vsts. They have a strings one, and it sounds alright in the demo song. I used the mixcraft strings/choirs for the longest damn time before i found the magnus choirs and the EastWest free stuff is great. Under the Orchestra section, the Orchestral Stings is a nice combo of 4 other mixcraft vsts and gets the job alright. The choris i liked for the longest time til i heard the magnus choirs. EastWest has a symphonic choir ibrary, but it gets pricey, at least for me. Also, mixcraft has some default brass/sax and woodwind vsts and they're ok, but i would only use them if you can't find something a little higher quality.
  23. Yeah, i use mixcraft for all my music. I hardly use any of the mixcraft default vst's cause there are a lot better quality ones, but i'll use them to write out the track then switch over to the better ones once i'm ready to mix down a track. I've been using it for over 2 years now and i'm very content with it. Sometimes when i start to use a new vst, especially bigger ones (ie EWQLSO Free Edition), it will be a bit buggy. Usually just crashes randomly. Once you figure out why, its fine and i use them all the time. I noticed that sometimes when using my EZ Drummer vst that it will crash, but doesn't do that anymore. Bottom line, i'm happy with it. It was cheap, works well enough for me, and with enough learning of general music production, can make some great stuff. I write anything from metal, rock, video game, orchestral, and even some techno with it and get great results. BUT to each his own. Here's an example of a song i just recorded with it very recently:
