  1. I really do love what you've done here, its definitely a nice take on the themes used. I think the clipping is just the bass drum being too loud, if you turned that down a little and just maybe messed with the EQ slightly (so you don't lose the power) would sound awesome. As for the transition to the underground theme, maybe a quick pause then the sound effect of going down the pipe might make the transition a little more fluid. The bass isn't too shabby, maybe with the bass drum lowered in volume you wouldn't get that slightly static/clipping sound. Overall though, i think maybe the instruments are still too loud. Are you running a compressor on the track? If not, try using one on the whole track and using an EQ on the whole track to really bring out the highs and lows better. All in all, i like the overall tone of this. Especially the underground theme, the big band sound really come out in this. Keep up the good work, its well on its way.
  2. I agree that this is definitely something to work on, but its already halfway there. I like the beat, but think that the drums should have more power to them. Also, maybe trying to pan some of the instruments to create more of a stereo effect will help in the overall tone of the song. The song does need to be lengthened a little bit, maybe adding a solo or something of a different pace might help spice it up a bit. All in all, i think its a great start. I would like to hear the end result.
  3. Thank you! Ya know its funny, cause the original ending was the continue/retry/save screen theme from the Zelda game, but i cut it out cause it made the song way too long for what i wanted. lol
  4. I put a link to it up on rapidshare at http://rapidshare.com/files/212752933/NintenJoe_64_-_Voices_Broken.mp3 in case anyone wants to hear the cd quality version.
  5. Hmmm...Its kinda like if they made sonic 2 for the N64, lol. it has that sound to it. I don't think its too shabby, but i think maybe it would sound a little more epic, or better, if instead of the clean midi guitar it was something like a string synth or orchestra vst it might sound a little fuller and such. But as far as small changes go, try adding more bass to the drums for nicer, crisper sound. Either way, its catchy, but nothing amazing yet.
  6. Alright, i've made couple other small changes that glasfen suggested to my mix and came up with this http://www.soundlantern.com/UpdatedSoundPage.do?ToId=36238 , to stream, and http://rapidshare.com/files/212558674/NintenJoe_64_-_Link_s_Labyrinth__Legend_Of_Zelda_NES_Dungeon_Final.mp3 to download. The download link is probably better quality than the stream. Let me know if you guys think this one is good enough now?
  7. I took Rozovian's suggestions and applied them to my mix and reposted it on sound lantern, found here: http://www.soundlantern.com/UpdatedSoundPage.do?ToId=36178 Let me know what ya think of the revisions! )
  8. Thank you! I appreciate the feedback!! I use a Line 6 Toneport UX1. I plug my guitar into the Toneport UX1 then it plugs into a USB port on my computer. So the computer becomes an amp, so to speak. Then i just use Mixcraft 4 as my main recording program and Beatcraft for the drums. And thank you for mentioning my soloing!!
  9. I've been writing music almost full time since about January of 2008 and have been playing guitar since 2000. I've come a long way since my first song since then. NintenJoe 64 does completely original music ranging anywhere from rock and hard rock to death and power metal. If you like any of the songs you hear here, let me know and i'll give you a link to the cd quality versions of them. ENJOY! ) I have quite a bit of my music up for listening on Sound Lantern, which is basically if Youtube only did music. http://www.soundlantern.com/UpdatedUser.do?UsName=jabond21&UsId=4868 But i'm really looking for an opinion on a song i wrote called Voices Broken ( http://www.soundlantern.com/UpdatedSoundPage.do?ToId=35536 ) . Voices Broken is a mix of hard rock and some metal. It kinda reminds me of Filter. Please let me know what ya think of it!
  10. I like this version. Its funny though, cause i was working a remix of this theme myself before i found this and it came out eerily similar. Oh well, its still a rockin' tune and the breakdowns are catchy
  11. I gotta admit, thats definitely interesting, lol. Seriously though, its definitely catchy. I think its a good base but needs to be built upon more. Maybe some string synths or a square lead or sumthin along those lines!
  12. Very nice! I do agree that maybe the quality of the strings in the beginning is a little low, but doesn't ruin the overall listening experience. The lead at 2:25 does kinda sound a little bland, maybe messing with the eq for a little more high end or so, just to make it a little clearer. I love how you capture that underwater setting, its kinda dark, but yet hopeful and tranquil at the same time. I would love a link to the mp3 if ya don't mind! Its definitely OCR worthy though!
  13. This is awesome! very epic take on the bowser theme! lol I don't really ahve any suggestions other maybe like a couple other guys mentioning adding an organ somehow, maybe during the middle break or so. Either way, i think its OCR ready!
  14. Hello everybody! My name is Joe and i've gone and did a remix for the labyrinth theme from basically any of the zelda games, but more precisely, the first one. Its definitely a heavier remix, a lot of metal influences. Also, all the instruments are played by me, except the virtual instruments, which are programmed by me. I've been working on this remix for the better part of about a year. It was until recently that i started getting sharper on my mixing/producing skills. Please let me know what ya think of this? http://www.soundlantern.com/UpdatedSoundPage.do?ToId=36135 to stream it or http://rapidshare.com/files/212293895/NintenJoe_64_-_Link_s_Labyrinth__Legend_Of_Zelda_NES_Dungeon_2.mp3 to download it THANK YOU!
  15. yes he should be brought back!
