OCR01054 - *YES* Flashback 'Nostalgy Dimension'
djpretzel replied to djpretzel's topic in Judges Decisions
That's not a slap bass. -
Though this is closed, I'd like to add personally that I agree with the no - I'm a fan of the Coop's arrangements, but sound quality continues to be an issue and needs to be addressed in my opinion...

Song: Four Fantasies Game: Final Fantasy IV Handle: Kevin Stephens EDIT: Russ requested that this song be solely credited to Kevin as Russell's modifications were very light. -Prot

Note: I think this is a great piece of music, with some of the best rapping I've heard in a game mix in terms of rhythm and changeups, not to mention the lyrics. The only concern is whether it uses enough of the game music to qualify. I wrote the ReMixer regarding this, here is his response: Because the original BGM is sooo minimal, it does actually "cover" the source material. The decision is this panel's to make as to whether there's enough "there" to pass as an OC ReMix. In other regards, I think it's a highly creative mix that involved some real talent. -djp Credited to: DJD & CO-2 Game: Herzog Zwei Rmx name: HerzogFlow This is my third submission. I made it a while ago and then forgot about it, so when I was about to submit it, I decided to start again from scratch. Im very glad I did because it came out way better than the first time. The beat was made mostly with Project 5 and some fruityloops (I just got Proj 5 and I was still learning bout the program). The vocals were recorded in Cool Edit Pro 2.0. If it will help the judging process at all, click the "song info and lyrics" button if you want the lyrics. The beat was made by me, DJD. The first verse is me, the second and third verse is my friend C0-2, and the last verse is me. *N/A* Dance Dance Revolution 5th Mix 'Hot Limit'
djpretzel replied to djpretzel's topic in Judges Decisions
update: called Cox - apparently the issue is IP contention - someone on my node is attempting to hijack my legit, static IP as their own. Probably a typo, in actuality, but until they resolve it I'm on DHCP. This *should* actually work, and you *should* be able to get to the files as of 6PM EST tonight, but until the IP is back to static and the contention is resolved, there's no guarantee. -
*N/A* Dance Dance Revolution 5th Mix 'Hot Limit'
djpretzel replied to djpretzel's topic in Judges Decisions
It's either Cox or me, I'm still trying to figure out which. I'll be giving them a call if there are still issues tomorrow. -
Pretty cool... - djp Two links to my submission: Details: The ID3v2 tags are all filled out. It's a remix of the World 7 theme from Super Mario Bros. 3. It's a short one (only about 2 minutes), but justifyably short! I had only 2 bars of original material to work with. I hope you're okay with the amount of "interpretation" I did. Thanks in advance for considering my submission. Your site rocks my face!

Howdihow! I've made a Chrono Trigger(My favorite game ) remix of "Secret of the Forest". The title is: Enigmatic Forest I've been on the site for very long time, but it's first time I've made a remix so here are the required informations about me. My artist name is Jenkie, and I'm from denmark. It's not the first time I've made a soundtrack so I have some experience. The things that I really wanted to be clear in the remix is that, you really fell like you are in a magic forest. -Jenkie- Hope you'll enjoy it!

Hello. I'm writing in order to submit an arrangement/remix of mine called "Flames of Valor." This orchestral arrangement consists of pieces from Breath of Fire for the SNES: the first Overworld Theme, "Alan and Cerl Forever," and the Title Theme. As a quick aside, I did submit an arrangement to your site on 02/23/2003 entitled "Dollet Unbound," but according to what I've seen over the past few months at the Judge's Forum, the arrangement has not yet been judged nor listed. Unfortunately, due to my extremely limited webspace, I have replaced "Dollet Unbound" with this newer arrangement. If you happen to come across "Dollet Unbound," then please accept my apologies for any confusion, and disregard it, as I feel that "Flames of Valor" is a better submission. Anyway... name i want it credited to: Vampire Hunter Dan my website: http://vhdan.tripod.com my email: vhd@look.ca URL for the arrangement/remix file (please note that you might need to copy and paste the address, but this probably will not be necessary; if all else fails, you should be able to visit and download the file from there):

david & judges: This arrangement has been a long time coming. And I'm glad it's finally finished. Prepare for the life story of a remix that almost died... (Or just scroll down till you find the link.) See, I started this back in June 2002. It was originally just a little orchestral/techno remix I made in fruityloops, by the urging of one Douglas "SgtRama" Arley, for a failed "TFAT" (To Far Away Times) flood he attempted at that time. Well.. not completely failed. See, while I had heard the song before, it was after I had arranged it myself, that I fell in love with it. I swore to one day complete the remix. Fast Forward to late November, early December 2002. I had just gotten my first remix posted on OCR (yay!) and was looking for more material to cover. I asked around in #ocremix, and of course, Douglas brought up "TFAT." Since I had already fallen in love with the song, and sworn to complete my previous remix, I decided to go for it. At this point however, I had realized the true crapality of my original remix, so I decided to begin again from scratch. Over the next several months, many hours were logged, trying to complete a trancy arrangement of the song that would pay homage to the original and its true master, Yasunori Mitsuda. I later on decided it should become a sort of medley, and incorporated the Epoch theme in as well. Then in April, I hit a snag. As several of you know by now (due to my constant bitching in #ocremix) my hard drive died. I lost all the source files for everything I had worked on up to that point. But I didn't give up. After lots of searching and help from a few truly great forum/chat people, I was able to get back the most recent version of the song. I played with it endlessly. If I couldn't finish the track, I'd damn sure try my hardest to master/EQ the track to the best of my abilities. So after many more hours of tweaking reverb, compression, EQ, I have finally come to a pinnacle. I take pride in the effort put into this mix. It's my dark horse. Blah blah blah, enough mushy crap. You can find it here: As always, enjoy -Ty "Suzumebachi" Guenley P.S.- You know where to find me should something go wrong with the hosting or what have you.

*N/A* Dance Dance Revolution 5th Mix 'Hot Limit'
djpretzel replied to djpretzel's topic in Judges Decisions
Thanks, man... hope we can post this, I thought it was damn fun. -
Been a while since I submitted a (decent) remix, This one begins with FF7's Those Chosen By The Planet's eerie beats and choir, mixes with part of FF8's Liberi Fatali. At 2:43, an eerie choir rendition of the melody from FF9's Kuja's theme comes in to play, and the piece finishes off with FF6's Terra's theme. Hope you enjoy!

Well, you don't hear this every day. Vocal grew on me. Some of the live trumpet and piano are just very good. Should we allow DDR mixes? They are game music, right? And when they're arranged to this extent... -djp Dance Dance Revolution: Hot Limit (Disco Arrangement) Aaron Ackerson http://www.mp3.com/Aaron_Ackerson spacecat@ameritech.net Aaron Ackerson ----------- My original music: http://www.mp3.com/Aaron_Ackerson Yahoo! Hi. My name's Mike Desnoyers. I found your site and felt inspired because there was no Magnet Man (from Megaman 3 of course). So here's my attempt at a remix. It's kinda techno-ish I guess. As far as a handle, my friends call me Heavy D so that's what I put for the tag. And here's the site: I look forward to doing more mixes in the future (in fact I have another... but I'll wait) and hearing back from you... if it needs improvement, I'm open to constructive criticism. Thanks!! ===== Aiight, that's it fer now. I'm out. later, ~Blaze the Destroyer~ "Beef on 3... 1-2-3 BEEF!!!" D-Line has more fun. Mike "Heavy" D. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? I was thinking of direct posting this... well, I wanted to see what you guys thought first. Different from our other jazz mixes, more of a blues feel -djp Hello- I am hereby submitting a prospective ReMix to your fine site. I did "Ultramarine" (from Bionic Commando) a while back, which drew some fire for its muddy, over-reberbed mixing. This time I've tried to keep things a bit cleaner, hopefully the results will please. Thanks in advance for the committees time and feedback- I learned a lot from your responses to my previous entry. -jcd

Hey, i'd like to submit this peice: And if you could somehow tell me that you recieved this, that would be great. (I tried submitting this about month ago and nothing ever came back to me saying you had gotten it) Flipsideshooze

repetitive, but catchy. I think it's worth providing the mixer with feedback in this case. With some ambient pads and processing to give it some depth, and a lil more variety, this could be a really funky mix. What say you? -djp Hi there, skulkrusha here. I've had this mix I did ages ago on my hard drive for some time considering if I should submit it or not. It's called "DoctorDanceRevolution" from the first Megaman game (it's based on the Gameboy version, but I'm guessing the NES and Gameboy editions don't have much variation). It's based on Dr Wily's castle theme, it's the first theme you hear when you unlock the level. The link follows: This was made on the FL 3 demo, using only the preset sounds. I've had the tune on my disk for a while, like I said. I was a little disheartened at the first remark I recieved about the piece, since it was nothing but complaints, so I decided to keep it away from OCR exposure. I've decided after some encouragement, however, that maybe I should try to submit it anyway. Oh, and, may OCR live for 100 years, or more! -skulkrusha

I did this remix for IMC Popcorn III, way back in like... january.. or february.. or somethin. Anyways, I won the contest.. partly in part because everyone else was too chicken shit to attempt a remix at this song apparently. But WHUTEVER. It's a remix of "the seabed of st. elles" or some crazy fuckign thing like that. I don't have the original (lost it in a hard drive crash, managed to back up this arrangement luckily) and i'm too lazy to go find it to get the real name, but I have a feeling what I said there was pretty close. I think. You can find it here: OR CAN YOU?? damn FTP thingy keeps screwing up the caps. oh well. anyways.. it's not really my usual stuff... if I even have a usual stuff... so uhm... Enjoy. -T.H. Guenley (Suzumebachi) P.S. - Xypher's FTP is somewhat intermittant at times, so if you're having a problem downloading the song, or if it's down or something, just get ahold of me. Greetings djpretzel! We have finnished an updated version of the remix 'Final Fantasy 8 Desperados'. What is new is that we have added and removed some small stuff, made a new intro, and properly mixed and mastered it this time. Anyway, get it at ftp.angelfire.com using the login name 'music5/standby' and the password 'ravekids'. Hope you like it! And now for the request: I dont know if you could do this but I want my previous remix ' Green Beret Hardcore' and also my 'WhoAmI' profile removed because I am not a solo artist anymore and I really hate that mix. I dont even know why I sent it to you, I was so stupid. If you'd be willing to do that maybe you would also have to alter the review of 'Final Fantasy 7 Galvanized Boss' a bit. Please, please, please remove me and that song! Cheers - Standby
