  1. Hey DS, you might want to fix the voting deadline in the first post. As TheGuitahHeroe pointed out, it said voting for the Mega Man Bracket ends 5/21 at noon, I think you mean 5/28. Gonna listen to the mixes now!
  2. Since Starphoenix and Devastus were going up against each other and if they both drop out... how's that going to work? Hopefully you guys got something done...
  3. Last time most people gave a brief write-up on what they liked, what they thought needed work, etc. for each track. Some people were more in-depth than others. It's not necessary, but I always like hearing feedback on my work, so I try to give constructive feedback when I can.
  4. I'm really looking forward to hearing and giving feedback on these first batch of mixes tomorrow afternoon
  5. Wow! This is great! I love the style and vocal performance by Ashleigh! I was a big fan of the Wild Arms collab track you guys did awhile back as well. Speaking of, I can't wait for the entire Wild Arms remix album, it should be awesome.
  6. Since the mixes are due noon on Saturday, will they be released for voting sometime shortly thereafter, or will we have to wait until Sunday? Just curious. Thanks.
  7. Hey don't overlook BlackPanther... He had some great stuff in the GMRB!
  8. Whoops, don't know how I missed that. I fixed that and some blurry crap in the corners of the blue bar. Yeah I figured, I was just giving you guys a hard time Why thank you. That track was a blast to make, but unfortunately it didn't pass the judges panel. Larry wasn't a fan of the brass or sax samples. Which, I can respect, I tried getting some people to collab with me for some live instrument recordings, but nothing ever materialized. It's a fun song nonetheless IMO. I'm a big fan of jazz and Latin music in general. I've currently got this idea for a Latin & samba style Quickman mix that I am just dying to make, complete with some live trumpet, congo drum/hand percussion, and perhaps even some xylophone. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to that... Here's the updated banner now though in PNG:
  9. Since no one made a sweet banner for us supporters for our signatures, I did so in about 30mins. What do you guys think?
  10. I know in the GMRB we knew who's songs were who's, because during the voting we would say which remixer we were voting for.
  11. Are you guys making any sort of generic, minimalist GRMRB 2011 banner for a sig? I'm not remixing, so it'd be inappropriate to use one of the bracket sigs, but I'd like to support the compo.
  12. Shade Man's theme is awesome (I made a decent remix 7-8 years ago). I'm also a fan of Burst Man's theme, which is often overlooked. The intro stage and credits theme from MM7 are great too (although those obviously aren't Robot Master themes).
  13. I don't think the matchups have been determined yet guys... DS said they wouldn't be up till Saturday. That way it will be a surprise and no one will have a "head start". The brackets are probably just numbered for the sake of numbering... I think we're looking to much into that.
  14. Here's an idea prophetik... you should run with that giant penis analogy. Slow down Spring Man's theme, add some deep bass and make it sound like a cheesy porno song. That would be awesome
  15. LOL @ out-of-ideas man ...yeah Spring Man probably has the worst MM song ever. Good luck with that.
  16. I figured... I am just eagerly awaiting all the epic match-ups!
  17. I can't quite put my finger on it, but whatever you did (particularly with the middle section) just sounds better now. It feels like there is more going on, more intricate rhythms, melodies, etc. The only complaint I have is like DaMonz said, the ending is a bit dry. It felt like it was building up to something, but then it just kind of fizzled out. Overall though, I don't think it really takes away from what the rest of the track was doing. Great job!
  18. No offense, but I don't know if I'd go that far. The judges are pretty rough. If we are going by judges standards, this mix is rather conservative. It sticks pretty close to the source until the section from 1:54 - 2:55, which while original, just seems to feel a bit empty. There isn't anything particularly exciting or defining going on in that section. Maybe introduce a new melody, or try to fill out the sound with some additional instruments. The ending from 3:44 also deviates from the source a bit, which I like. With that said, I really like the update for what it is. I think it is a great interpretation of Quickman's theme, and something along these lines would work great in the GRMRB. Sample quality and mixing sound pretty solid. I think this sounds great as is, just in response to Nonamer, it would need more work if it was intended for the judges panel. Great job, GuitahHeroe, I look forward to seeing what you do in the GRMRB.
  19. I have always wanted to do a full on latin/samba version of Quickman's theme. Spice it up a bit. The source would fit perfectly with live trumpets, sax, piano, perhaps some xylophone, complete with some congo/tom-tom and hand percussion. Someone needs to make that happen. Oh I do like your brief rendition here too BTW. Good luck in the compo.
  20. Hah oh I know... I really would love to join. May and June are all sorts of crazy for me though. I am defending my masters thesis the third week of May, getting married in June, and searching for a job in my new career during this entire time. If it really came down to there being 31 people, then I suppose I could forgo sleep for awhile and do some remixing , but I'd absolutely have to be in the second bracket, because there is no way I'll have time before my masters thesis is done. Thanks for the support Gario
  21. The computer was needed for the business of remixing. And that must not stall. Get on it.
  22. The other side of this argument is that, in this scenario, we will be guaranteeing elimination of top notch remixers in the first round. Some sort of random assignment/pairing would probably be the most fair.
  23. Why not though? He's not one of the "traditional" 8 Robot Masters, but he was part of the DLC in Mega Man9, he has his own stage, and you fight him at the end of the stage just like would any other robot master. I think we were mainly trying to avoid bosses from Wily stages that weren't really robot masters... Plus his theme is pretty awesome... Edit: I think we need a ruling by DarkeSword
