  1. And that part wasn't bad at all, just that one little section (2:32 - 2:47) sounded a bit off. hahah, yeah I think the guitar might work better! That would be amazing and I think it would sound great. You kinda already had something going like that at the end, but then it just sorta faded out. Can't wait to hear what you work up next!
  2. Wow... this is a rather significant update. I never downloaded the previous version, so I can't compare directly, but I could tell there were some major and minor changes. Here's my critiques: I really liked some of the minor additions in the beginning of the track, such as the higher pitched background synth from 0:44 - 1:00, and the expanded bass section from 1:15 - 1:45. I think they really added to the soundscape. Nice synth melody improv from 2:02 - 2:16. The "transition" section from 2:17 on felt like it meandered a bit, especially the parts from 2:32 - 2:47. Maybe tighten it up a little, make it feel a bit more cohesive & purposeful. From 2:48 - 3:02 was great though in my opinion. Yeah I'm not really a fan of the organ from 3:03 - 3:30. I think the arrangement is great, but maybe not the best instrumentation choice? It seems to blend with rest of the soundscape and sound a bit muddled. Maybe it's just a matter of choosing a different sample or tweaking the EQ. The ending, although not bad, still feels a bit anti-climactic to me. Overall great track though, definitely way better than anything I've made, so take my critiques for what they are. I really love the style throughout, keep it up!
  3. Any progress on this awesomeness metaphist?
  4. Wow... I didn't even know this thing was that close to being released. Nice trailer though, I'm pumped!
  5. This is one of my favorite recent OCR mixes. Great job! I really love the uptempo feel throughout the song. Nice guitar work as well!
  6. Very nice! I'm not familiar with the source (never played Portal), but this song sounds like a lot of fun, and with my limited knowledge of the game it seems like the lyrics fit the game/themes well. I really like the style you guys got going on here. I also can't wait to hear the Plaid Muffins version of Armored Armadillo on Maverick Rising. Just sayin'.
  7. Oh nice, welcome back Bahamut! I can't wait to hear the whole album!
  8. I'm really liking the groove here... very funky. A couple things I noticed: the drums throughout, and especially in exposed areas like the intro, sound hollow and fake. I imagine they're just a place-filler, but I'd put some beefier sounding drums in there, or maybe a little reverb. The drum writing is great though, I think it fits great with the groove. The bass, again especially in the intro, sounds a little cheesy, but I actually think I kinda like it, it seems to give it more of that 80's feel. The ending is rather abrupt and anti-climactic, but given this is a work-in-progress, I assume it's not done. Overall I really like it, hopefully you finish it up! Good job.
  9. My toughest vote was definitely the 1st round matchup between Gario and TheGuitahHeroe. Both were so damned good. I think both remixers could have easily made it to the bracket finals if they didn't get matched up in the 1st round. Favorite tracks were "Ground Based" - PrototypeRaptor, "Jumping Flash" - AeroZ, and "Scorched Ice" - MainFinger.
  10. Nice mix! It's good to see GuitahHeroe posted on here! Your GRMRB tracks were great, keep it up!
  11. I don't really have anything constructive to add, I just really like this song. Nice job man.
  12. Oh yeah, I too have been eagerly awaiting this game. And my hardware can definitely support it (sorry Gario ). I looooooved the first one when it came out years ago. And I played about 5 minutes of the second one. DXHR definitely looks like a return to form.
  13. Yeah great job everyone! I thoroughly enjoyed listening to everyone's mixes each week! I can't wait to see what else Darke has in store for us.
  14. Why can't we all be friends? Although the drama in this thread is nothing compared to what we just had in the GRMRB compo... Plus I was looking forward to hearing Brandon's Wild Arms tracks...
  15. Oh wow, that was an awesome preview! It sounds like there is going to be quite a bit of diversity on the album, yet it all still feels like Wild Arms. I love what Level 99 was doing with "To the End of the Wilderness" at the end there. I can't wait to hear the whole thing, great job guys!
  16. Yes finally a preview! Now we just need a link... EDIT: oh nevermind... It's in my messages. How kind and thoughtful I'll check it out when I get home from work tonight! Thanks Jade and Emu!
  17. Interesting mixes. Geeky Stoner: Your track sounded pretty good. Some interesting ideas going on. Production values were pretty good. The low end & percussion sounded a bit muddy at times, but the lead synths were crisp. The themes themselves weren't blended together very well, but that be hard sometimes given the source material. Overall this felt very similar to your GRMRB track, which isn't a bad thing. Silvernix: I can tell you tried to improve here. I have to agree with the others though, you tried to transition the pieces, but it sounds like your kept each theme in it's own key signature, which leads to a very painful clash when there are off-key notes playing over one another. If you can make the key sigs agree, then you will get rid of that "clashy" sound and the transitions will sound a lot better. I liked what you were trying to do here, some of the little improvs on the themes and the "storm" idea are good ideas, they just need to be executed better. Fix the key signatures and you'll be onto something.
  18. The other problem with voting is that you are likely to have a much smaller audience here than in the actual GRMRB, so voting may end up being inconsequential. And like others have said, having two threads or a social group would be unnecessary messy for what this is. I'd say it would be best to just reply with more in-depth constructive feedback (something we didn't do as much in the GRMRB) and if you really want to "vote" you could just end your post with "I preferred X's song".
  19. Hahahaha, maybe not the best thing to say about the people responsible for getting the album posted But yeah it would be awesome to be able to release the album on the 15th year anniversary of the game.
  20. So what happens if not all tracks are claimed/finished by Sept 1? Are you just going to dump those tracks? Does the December release still seem probable in this situation, given the backlogged album queue and everything? Good luck!
  21. Yeah, I know, I'm just impatient And yeah I know the album queue is humongous right now...
