This track was my take on new jack swing, which a much younger Garpocalypse was infatuated with back in the day,  and the reception of it seems to be better than I was expecting by far. 
@SuperiorX Almost all of the synth parts utilized UVI's Darklight IIx which is a collection of sounds taken from the classic Fairlight. The patch I think you are referring to was Slap Bass Wah or something along those lines.  I think it sounded frog like enough to title the track based on it.    UVI really has a solid collection of quality stuff in their Vintage Vault. 
@Jamphibious It's too early to be talking rematch already! We still have some votes coming in!  Honestly though I think you did a great track with some more faithful and familiar interpretations of the sources. 

Wow, wow, wow!!! I absolutely loved both of these songs, it was such a hard vote. @Jamphibious groovy, well-produced, great instrumentation as always! @Garpocalypse daaaaaaamn, I think this is the funkiest thing I've ever heard you make - I loved those dirty synths (that one that first came in at 0:28 was so juicy - another new sound of yours?) and rockin' guitar parts. Hats off to both of you fine gentlemen!

Going on a week now since Round 6's tracks were due... any updates @DarkeSword??

I really enjoyed all 4 songs across these two rounds! It was REALLY really tough voting between Mak and Arceace. A few quick thoughts:
Gar: a really solid entry from you! I thoroughly enjoyed the instrumentation - the plucked strings, flute, Asian pipe thingy, the minimalist percussion - everything really clicked for me. Curious, was that Asian wind instrument thing a one-shot sample/loop or a VST? I loved the way it sounded, but I noticed as the song went on the articulation and attack seemed to be the same each time it played, so I was thinking it was a sample. It was more noticeable towards the end. It fit great regardless though.
JAMF:  totally digging the vibe here. I loved the interplay between the two themes, the Flash Man main melody really complemented the other melody. I really got into the 1:20 section with the bass taking the lead there for a little and the key changes / modulations. Really fun stuff.
Mak:  this was my favorite track of yours thus far from the compo! I thought you handled the two themes well. Air Man can be a little tricky to integrate, but it seemed to fit really well here playing off the Fire Man main melody. The guitar solo around 2:45 and the bridge section right thereafter were killer, nice work! The mix sounded a little muddy, but overall was very solid!
Arceace:  Whoa, I was not expecting a solo piano mix! It could have come across as hastily thrown together, but I think you made plenty of variations on the melodies to make it your own - especially with how you wove the two themes together. The humanization of the piano was solid enough, especially given the time constraints. A little short, but overall the arrangement steals the show on this one and bravo for trying something different!

It's the Emulator II Shakuhachi which was a patch used in a lot of 80's music like the start of Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer and Sadeness from Enigma and a sound I wanted for awhile. I finally was able to get it when I picked up UVI's Vintage Collection which includes all of their retro synth romplers. My only problem with UVI's EMU II Shakuhachi patch is that it's fairly limited and unflexible due to the sample used in the rompler not having much of an attack. Fast passages don't sound like anything regardless of the attack settings on the interface.  Sustains though sound ok though and you know how much I like those :). 
For this competition I aimed to emphasize one retro synth with each mix.  My round 6 entry makes use of the Fairlight CMI IIX rompler.

I think at this point we can all assume that DarkeSword has stashed all the musics in a duffel bag and hopped a plane to Monaco.

Oh snap, I didn't realize that I still had more time!
I threw something together last-minute and sent it in just in case there's still time left. It's definitely going to sound rushed and under-developed, but it's better than nothing! haha
 

Not fair. "Drunk Man" was made in one day and I wasn't much sober. So find 1-2 hours to make something please.

I was happy with what I was able to do last round with what time I had available but I definitely felt my mix was a little "safe".  Didn't venture too far outside my comfort zone.  Starphoenix had a more interesting take to me so I threw a vote that way.  Definitely keep it up!
I was a little bummed that I didn't get Flash Man originally but looks like I get a shot at that theme after all.  I'll see what I can muster up this week, considering I'm remixing my first and second picks now.

I plan on expanding on the arrangement of my 1st round track and touching up some things over the coming weeks, so if there is any kind of final compo release planned, I'll have that for it assuming timing works out.

Unfortunately nothing ever came together. I had some major writer's block. Believe me, even if I had a hot pile of garbage WIP, I would've turned that in to at least have something

I'm really sorry guys, especially @Arceace cause I really wanted to have a solid showing and I hate it when folks have to drop out of these compos.

Yeah, this didn't happen. I'd give a million reasons why, but at this point it'd just be excuses filling in for what was just regular ol' irl exhaustion. Still look forward to the entries, though, and can only apologize repeatedly for not stepping up like everyone else here has.
