  1. Hey all I recently began creating an album, of metal remixes of music from the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. It's still in the EARLY STAGES and I don't have a release date as of yet. But you can check out a promo video here http://youtu.be/Ledd6kiqqjY
  2. The answer to why Sega wanted the remake taken down? http://www.destructoid.com/streets-of-rage-2-hits-ios-today-198834.phtml
  3. Oh no, I accidentally leaned on my keyboard. http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/6311443/Streets_of_Rage_Remake_v5 Wow, what are the chances it spelt out a link?
  4. Inb4lock lol. But seriously, I think you have the judges and the site all wrong. I see no reason for them to be "elitist" or "biased". I can understand that it would be frustrating to wait a long time for your remix to be rejected, but use that as motivation to improve your skills and make even better music. What reasons did they give for it not being accepted?
  5. Thanks Turtle. I now feel ok listening to that song.
  6. Some good suggestions there, I would love to see a SMW and Streets of Rage album. However, you must remember that albums generally take a long time to complete and require great organization skills from the creator.
  7. This is really good, it's a nice blend of chiptune/dance style. Also the glitch breakdown is sweet. But I think I heard minor clipping at 2:57 - 3:01, might wanna check that. P.s I don't remember Kefka being in Sonic
  8. @Caliostro I think you could be right about the "out of sync" issue. It all seemd fine in my video editor, but now I watch it again some parts are a bit off. I thought it would be cool to start off with a more melodic section, in contrast to other remixes of the song and I'm glad you agree. Thanks for the feedback, hail to the king! @Cyril the Wolf I've now included a download for the song, so feel free to experiment with some vocals on top of it.
  9. Thanks for the comments. And yeah it would be interesting to hear a vocal take on the song. A job for www.youtube.com/brentalfloss maybe?
  10. Here's my metal remix of "Grabbag" from the Duke Nukem series. This was made in celebration of the upcoming game "Duke Nukem Forever". So take out your double-barrelled shotgun and get some hot bitches at the ready Original Remix http://soundcloud.com/sbeast/hail-to-the-king-baby Remix with video
  11. Badass. Crush 40/Pendulum mashup...who would of thought that it goes together...but it does. Great job!
  12. I think I can help with a couple of your questions about compression/limiting. Here goes... It depends on the instrument, genre, performance e.t.c. But as a general rule a compressor should be used when you feel like you need to reduce the dynamic range of a sound. It also has other uses; such as side chain compression; or shaping the volume envelope of a sound (the attack and release come into play here). A limiter should be used to prevent the volume of a sound going beyond a threshold which you specifiy. This is a must on the master chain to prevent clipping. I'm not sure if it is needed on individual tracks or not. You can also increase the input gain to increase the "perceived loudness" Hope it helps.
  13. A really great soundtrack Zircon, it has a retro vibe but with modern production. There's also some decent remixes and even though I didn't win, I'm still happy to have mine included with the others.
  14. Damn man, that's really good! Nice use of the loop pedal and different articulations.
  15. 11 years? Wow. I have known for a couple of years, wish I had found out sooner.
  16. Thanks for the comment. Yeah I tried to keep it interesting stylistically. The drums are a custom made EX24 instrument with some processing effects applied to them.
  17. I have just completed a Metal Medley of some well known Christmas songs. There's also a video to go along with it. Happy (early) Xmas 2010 Version 2011 Version
  18. This is actually pretty good. It's nice to see an underrepresented soundtrack get some attention. The Dr Breen quotes fit in really well too. Nice!
  19. The Gorons approve. Really nice chiptune remix. Moar please.
  20. The legend of bass The bass of time A link to the bass Ok enough puns. It's an interesting idea and overall it's pretty good. Not sure what else to say really.
  21. Is it too late to send the WAV file? I just found out your having a torrent release and I think I only sent an mp3.
  22. Most EQ plugins that come with the software are usually good enough to start with. Learning how to EQ, and having good quality recordings/samples are more important IMO.
  23. Fuck you youtube. You penalise a decent member of the youtube community whose sole interest was the promotion and celebration of video game music.
