  1. Not really an ingame bug but back in the day I had a PSOne Memory card that bragged about its 25x storage or something like that. What I didn't realize was that it used crap compression to cram all of those "blocks" in there. Well I had used the card to play FF7 and once when I was all the way through the extra side quests on the third disc and about to head into the crater the memory card corrupted all of my saves. Thankfully I had saved on a different card but the last save I did was all the way back in Cosmo Canyon. So I played like hell one weekend to get back to where I was. Not really a game ending bug but oh well. Moving On. -Gar Does Bug! for the Saturn count? I rented that once and didn't play any games on the system again until it became "ritually clean" a few weeks later. Game ending bug. Same deal with Blackfire though I kind of liked the game in a weird way.
  2. I had a Master System from a friend of mine for a little while. With it was some type of shooting game like duckhunt and a few others. Honestly can't remember them too well since I had a Genesis at the time. (my first system) Restecpah for anyone who reminisces about old Sega hardware. The games and the systems themselves had a feel and a look to them that Sega has long since killed off. Unrelated note, Just got my xbox back from MS and I LOVE SONIC AGAIN! Sonic 4! Weeeeooooooooooo. -Gar
  3. I was a bit disappointed with the music of the casino stage. The nighttime stages were always my favorite. (sonic2 and sonic cd (american st)for sure). I wish Sega wasn't so damn masochistic with their best IP's. Sega was going to buy Fighting Force from eidos and label it the next Streets of Rage. Thank God that didn't happen. So what do you think Sega will ruin next? Shenm-oh wait. Jet Grind Rad- Golden A- Toejam n'- hmmm. I guess the only thing thats left is Panzer Dragoon. The one game that didn't suck but made up for its not sucking by not selling.
  4. So, I came home today with some really bad news. My one roommate who was laidoff a little while ago finally found a new job, but its a nightshift. Which means he will be sleeping all day, every day. Naturally my practice time which is hard enough to get together as it is has just been thrown out the window. I had a thought of constructing a soundproof chamber just big enough to cover my studio area and just high enough to stand in (with a few inches over my head to account for my basses). I googled this idea and found....nothing. No one buying, selling or building such a contraption. This is kind of what i am going for http://www.techjapan.com/Article599.html http://www.teamdroid.com/archives/2005/03/28/sound-proof-chamber-from-yamaha/ Does anyone know anything about this or something related? Importing one from japan seems to be the only option if that even is one.
  5. Unleashed is getting pulled?! That was such a great game, with the exception of most of the werehog levels. S4 in less then a week and my xbox gave me the great E74 a few days ago and I have to wait two weeks for a new system to play it on. On the plus side, I haven't been this productive in years. Music and work have been picking up for me nicely. Guess I gotta give something up.... That'll be it. Monday I am punching my boss in the back of the head.
  6. I've heard this sound a few times before and I really dig it. I've tried to recreate it using Dimension Pro but I have been pretty darn unsuccessful at it. Can anyone give me some tips on making it or can say as to what library it is in? 0:09-0:40To me it sounds like a shakuhachi with dogs barking in the background. Any help is appreciated. -Gar
  7. Sorry about the lack of updates. I am a notoriously slow producing musician with a bad case of Bruckner Syndrome. What I have now is a more complete work that is in desperate need of some feedback (and fresher ears). This time I've posted two versions. One is a premixed version the other is mixed. Please compare the two and let me know how my Mixing and "Mastering" (if you can call it that with me) skills are coming along. As always feedback is always appreciated. http://www.last.fm/music/Gar23/ -Gar
  8. That's the plan. Just seeing how the first part is received. Hopefully I won't cave in on this one like all of my other one's i started By the way, For being such a great shooter it's too bad that Zero Wing regarded as a joke. Move Zig. -Gar
  9. How was everyone's holiday weekend? This is a big day for me, not only did I see a bunch of great SONIC THE HEDGEHOG remixes when I logged in but after several years of listening to great work on this site I finally got a project up to nearly listenable quality! A couple of things before we begin. First as you should be able to tell, my mixing abilites are somewhere in the range of Non-existant to Amatuer. If you have any Freq suggestions I am open to them! Second, I am hoping (after getting some feedback) to add a guitar duel in the next section which I am currently in planning for. This first part is mostly the Natols BGM played by guitars verbatim. I used EW:Ministry of Rock and Steven Slate Drums for this one. Any Feedback/Input/Flames are appreciated as always! Enjoy this first part of almost music. I may have made it a bit too loud so please turn your speakers down before loading it. Click here to listen to Zero Wing-Natols (Update 1-17-11)
  10. Thanks for the help. You just sold me on the Gold Edition. It sounds good enough to use for accompaniment to practice some concertos. Maybe I'll even use it live and say "Screw the orchestra! you've been replaced by technology!" Nervous laughter all around. -Gar
  11. With the recent East West sale I've been able to buy some of the vst's i've been putting off getting for years. I just bought Ministry of Rock and friggin' love it. (i've only been using cakewalk products so this is a huge step up for me). One collection I would like to get before the sale is over is a Symphonic Orchestra collection (gold or silver). Problem is I can't find much of anything as far as samples go. Has anyone used this in a remix or other piece of work? -Gar
  12. I've loved Star Ocean since 2nd story landed in the US on PSX. Sakuraba is a very talented VGM but I think SO3 had the best of his work. Too bad the game itself was the weakest in the series and don't get me started on that BS plot twist!
  13. Check the angle of your thumb. I've played bass (both electric and double) for over 10 years and my first injury was due to hyper extending my fretting hand. If you are new to the instrument and haven't developed the dexterity yet then DON'T LEARN FROM THE FIRST FRET UP! Alot of would have been musicians learn string instruments from left extreme to right extreme and then take the tension and awkwardness all the way up and down the neck until they get hurt. Pick something towards the middle of the neck to practice easy, relaxed fretting technique. The 12th fret works great if you are also starting to read music for the instrument. Sure it's and octave higher but it will be easier and more natural. Breathe and stay relaxed.
  14. I like it. Where did you find the soundfont? I'm a Sega nut myself and would like to see what you were using for this.
  15. I was looking into the Xboxlive Community Games as one of my possibilities. I like how you can input your own soundtrack into whatever game you're playing too, At the risk of destroying your experience of the game of course. When i was in college I did a few demos for some students who programmed for fun. They were more content to place random blocks on the piano roll in pirated versions of Fruity Loops than to use my stuff. not off to a good start. I wasn't sure if a degree in computer music or recording would help grease the wheels so to speak. Thanks for the ideas though.
  16. I'm a long time patron of Ocremix but first time poster. I did a search and couldn't find a similar topic so i'd thought i would make one. I currently have a four year degree in music and I've been a little too addicted to video games since I opened my Sega Genesis way back on Christmas of 1992. Right now since not much is opened to me job wise, i am thinking of going to get a master's degree in music education or forsaking all in order to get a time-demanding but steady job in the hospitality industry. However I just started thinking about pursuing something in the VG industry but I have no idea where to start looking. A few googles later, I have no idea how to get into this business or what I need education wise to get started. I have several incomplete remixes of my own that someday, when my mixing skills improve, I will submit to OCR. I would hate to give up everything and be assimilated into the business world just to get security to pay the bills. Can anyone give me some pointers to get started in the right direction? -Gar
