  1. Congrats to Argle for winning and great job to everyone on their entries! Sorry I didn't vote this time - will make sure to do so in the next round! In regards to your PM, HoboKa - sounds awesome to me!
  2. Entry submitted! Trism - This was an excellent pick (I hadn't even heard of this game until now)! It definitely is like an 80's action movie ending - victorious and uplifting! Also, thanks, TheVideoGamer, for the additional MIDI! I really appreciate it! I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's entries!
  3. I wanted to participate in the free round, but I couldn't decide on a source (until AFTER the deadline). But I'm definitely gonna give this one a go! On that note - Zephyr's quite an excellent source pick, TheVideoGamer! I'm glad you liked my source pick! So, I have... something, but... it's under the genre of: "Randomness & Spontaneity." ...yeah, I'm gonna give it another listen tomorrow and send it in (soon). Edit #1: Okay! Things sound a bit better. But, some parts, upon additional listening, need more tweaking, but that happens. (Late) Edit #2: Sorry I didn't submit anything - my entry was a complete disaster.
  4. Thanks for the entries, Trism and HoboKa! I'm looking forward to what you pick for #99, Trism. Also, I hope you all have a Happy New Year! Belated edit #1: Thanks for the comments, TheVideoGamer! I was especially focused on making it sound as realistic as I could this time, so I'm glad that paid off! Belated edit #2: TheVideoGamer gave some great critiques: I can't really think of anything to add! So, basically, I wanted to echo that I also loved HoboKa's sudden shift to a polka-style in the latter half of his mix (and that ethereal choir, beautiful), and I really loved the synth instrumentation (those bells, wow) and ambience of Trism's mix. Great mixes all around, here! Thank you, once again, for your mixes and time this round, and I'm looking forward to next time!
  5. Sorry to hear that, HoboKa. And no worries! I kind of figured that since it was Christmas, everyone was focused on that instead. Either way, thanks for the extension. With that said, I hope you feel better soon.
  6. Sorry it's taken me so long to submit a bonus mix - a couple of the initial ideas I had didn't pan out quite as well as I had hoped (in addition to getting ready for Christmas!). Either way, I'll definitely have something in today! Edit #1: Bonus mix submitted! I hope you all have a Merry Christmas, and if you don't celebrate that holiday - I hope you have a wonderful day!
  7. Thank you, and thanks for your critiques! Also, I don't think there's anything unfair about your criteria - I'm glad you liked it, though! Sorry I didn't have much to say about yours (or, really, anyone's mix), but I did enjoy what I heard (that's usually what I focus on first, with production second) - it took me back to old Castlevania days and was cleanly produced! Once again, I really enjoyed what I heard from you, and everyone this round! With that said, I hope you'll all like this suggestion I'm submitting. Edit #1: Submission sent!
  8. Thanks for all of the comments / votes, everyone - I really appreciate it! I really enjoyed all of the entries for this round. Thanks! I was certainly surprised, both times! Edit #1: Okay, I think I've found something to suggest!
  9. Voted! Voting was a bit difficult - I liked what I heard from everyone! Edit #1: Thanks everyone for the kind comments! I'm glad my fake guitars didn't do too much damage. Edit #2: Thanks again for the critique and a great job to all for the songs this round! The source selection for MnP #98 has been submitted, HoboKa! I hope you all like it.
  10. (Dynamic and first PRC) entry submitted! I wanted to give this one a try (and, this time, had something of an idea). Even though I haven't played this Castlevania game either... I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's entries.
  11. Entry submitted! I was at the point of second-guessing everything about my entry (a bad habit I have), so I figured it was time to submit what I had. Either way, I'm looking forward to listening to everyone's entries soon, and, on another note, I hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving this Thursday! If you don't celebrate that holiday (or you have it another day), then I hope you have a happy day! Edit #1: I slightly updated my entry. Listening to it, one part felt kind of empty, so I added an accompanying synth. Hopefully, it's a bit better now!
  12. Dang, I love this theme! Though, I cannot, for the life of me, find a way to end it. What I have now is a "come on, you can end now" ending. I may have to go with that. On the other hand, I was finally able to use some synths I haven't been able to before because they fit with energetic vibe of the song! Either way, I'll definitely be submitting this one soon, as I've done about everything I can think of with it. On another note, how's everyone doing on their entries?
  13. I agree with Dextastic, but I see what you're saying, HoboKa. I think, after the holidays, this question can be revisited. But, the proposed time window of one month, again, is probably the best for holidays / later in the year to allow for the maximum amount of possibilities / participation.
  14. Voted! I also agree that more time to work on entries is a good thing. To be honest, it'll especially help around the holidays (coming up soon). And this is an excellent pick; I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do with this one!
  15. Congrats to Dex for coming in first place, and thanks to everyone for their entries and comments! I've gotta echo Dex's comments on your bonus entry, HoboKa - I loved those drums! --- As for mine: I kind of figured that I was really stretching rule #2 for MnP (slowing it down from 198 to 120 BPM), but I thought why not give it a go anyway. Still, I'm glad you all enjoyed it, and it was even compared to Metroid Prime's soundtrack. Heck, that alone made me ecstatic! So, thanks for the comments, Dextastic and HoboKa! Dex, you mentioned that you liked that echoing lead - if you have the Synth1 VST, check out Alfmeister's Magic Cracker soundbank (it's an 80s synth soundbank) - it's called Dreamer's Delight MW. The bass was from the Gecko Soundbank, and it was called Breakin' Bass. --- Once again, I enjoyed all of the entries this round, and I'm looking forward to the next.
  16. Thank you sir! I've been wanting to participate for a while now, but I haven't had any ideas (aside from sound sidegrades). And, to answer your question, I'm indeed KlevarKoopa on ThaSauce (also my YouTube username). I'm mostly keeping this name on here for nostalgia's sake (and it also aligns with my SoundCloud username). Once again, I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's mixes! Edit #1: I updated my entry - I edited the drums. After listening, they felt "off". I hope that I got it a bit better this time!
  17. Sorry that I haven't entered for a while, but I'm going to try to get something submitted this time! The past few times, I haven't been able to think of anything, but I have a couple of ideas I'd like to try this time. Edit #1: Okay, so far, so good-ish! I think I can finish this today. I think I'm really bending one of the rules for this entry, but, hopefully, it still is "close enough". Edit #2: Submitted! I'm looking forward to listening to the other entries tomorrow.
  18. All right! I think I have an idea for this one - I'll see if I can pull it off!
  19. Sorry I'm so late in saying anything here (man, the holidays really flew by...)! I hope everyone had happy holidays! --- I know this is really late and I don't mean to bring back bad memories, but I'm sorry to hear about your cat, HoboKa - they're like family, and it's so difficult when they go. --- Silverpool, I loved the retro vibe you had here, and I really enjoyed your synth choices! Sorry I don't have much to say - I really enjoyed your entry, so thanks for submitting! Chadlee, thanks for the comments! Yeah, I did want to do more with the piano, especially toward the end, but I was at a loss as for what to do at the time (glad you liked it!) For my entry, HoboKa's comment about nostalgia / Super Mario 64 really steered the direction I wanted to go this time - I wanted to bring in some Nintendo 64 vibes with the sounds, so there's some new(er) (the piano and toy piano) and old (strings and the accordion) in there. Heck, the strings are from a Banjo-Kazooie soundfont, so, yeah. Now then, gonna go check out the next MnP!
  20. Entry submitted! I'm looking forward to hearing what everyone's come up with! EDIT: Sorry, I tagged my entry incorrectly.
  21. All right! At this point, I feel like my bonus mix is conceptually complete (this source has been a blast!), and I feel like production's going a bit better this time around (hopefully!). There are a couple of parts with some kinks, but, hopefully I can fix those within the next couple of days!
  22. WOW! Okay, umm... well then! *ahem* Wow - first place - I'm honored! I really appreciate the votes, and I'm also glad that everyone seemed to enjoy it! Thanks also for all of the comments / critiques you all had - they were very helpful and I hope to fix them in the next round. Once again, everyone's entries were great and I really enjoyed listening to them! *Hurries off to find an wintery entry* *EDIT*: Suggestion sent, HoboKa! Hope it fits the criteria, and I hope you all enjoy it!
  23. (All righty, it looks like voting concluded a while ago, so...) I enjoyed all of the entries for this round, so thanks to everyone for submitting! Here are a few quick thoughts I had: Chadlee: Very clean production and good synth choice! You could just drop this right into the game! Nicely done! satoka-eldon: I liked the more downtempo approach (at least, that's what it sounded like to me) you had here, but it still kept the kind of festive feel the original had. I also liked the 8-bit synth you introduced at 1:13, though I would've loved to have heard more of it. Overall, it was a very enjoyable entry! Silverpool: Taking Paper Mario back to the past! I'm a fan of that lead synth (I love 8-bit retro goodness). Good work on this, and I'm going to have to try this genre one day. Thanks once again for the entries! *EDIT*: I was able to log in to my ThaSauce account! Thanks for the comments everyone! Also, thanks HoboKa for bringing up the issue and whoever fixed it so I could log in (sorry, not sure who the administrator might be at the current time, but if you're reading this - thank you very much!)
  24. Yes, indeed! KlevarKoopa is me! Still no success on activation, unfortunately. Also, on the current topic, I'm loving the entries so far! (Removed a question here, since it was answered below).
