  1. I'd love a chance to win! His music has inspired every emotion in me that I can imagine.
  2. If you want me to perform on a track please email me at clockworkengine(at) gmail(dot)com
  3. Actually, I'm about to receive my midi converter in the mail (since sadly this kit has no usb functionality). When that happens MIDI will be fine. I plan to use the Steven Slate drums package, which according to reviews and my own assessment seems to be the best drum package available, plus it's only 80 bucks!!!! Check out this link for some vids of those libraries in action; it's unbelievable! http://www.stevenslatedrums.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=41 And PS- anyone may borrow my skills at any time.
  4. Personally, I think this is an excellent track, if I were you I wouldn't touch it, even if it isn't "up" to OCR standards. Having standards is fine, it keeps the junk at bay. But I think it's a little over the top on OCR; it saps the fun out of it.
  5. Here's a video I made of a drum performance along with Gradius III's Cosmo Plant. I hope you'll check it out, as it is sort of a demo I made in hopes of generating collaboration interest with musicians online. I welcome all criticism.
  6. You're sure enough to not try? With the same conviction, I say no programmed drums can outdo my human touch. If you like, we can put that to the test, since you're so sure EDIT: I listened to your tracks and they sound good. But I see now why you prefer sequenced drums. You're sound is completely electronic. I should have done my research before I requested a part; I'm not that into electronic music. There is very little work involved in getting a great sound out of prerendered samples and synths, so I guess I can understand why you don't want to work with something a little more challenging. I love the challenge, and I guarantee what comes out of my studio on one track can match the quality of Superior 2 samples with ease. At any rate, thanks anyway.
  7. Guess I can't help then. It sucks that you won't even try. Do you think all drummers are the same?
  8. You won't be disappointed. My electronic kit is a yamaha dtxplorer which is a mid range electronic kit, velocity sensitive and humanized. And they record crystal clear and pre mastered. Not much need for a multitrack. Add to that that I'm a professional drummer with a rock solid meter, so there's no need for quantization either. You're a skeptic, I'm sure. But if you try you won't regret it. That's all I can say.
  9. I'm not set up through midi, so no on multitracking. But they sound great anyway, on one stereo channel.
  10. I have both acoustic and electric sets. I intend to use the electronics, but they have great sound quality and can be played to the fullest. Provide me with a click or the information I need to make one and you won't need MIDI, as I don't send out a recording until it's flawless to the metronome.
  11. I'm interested in playing drums. As in, live kit. I don't have any youtube videos but you can check out www.myspace.com/virtuousarmor if you want to hear my drumming.
  12. I've got a set of yamaha electronic drums so it's pretty easy to get a crystal clear, high quality drum sound out of them near to or on par with that recording. I didn't use them for that recording, but you can expect a similar quality from any recordings I submit for this site. And yes, I can work with and/or expand on any existing drum ideas or tracks you may have.
  13. Only some original stuff. I also played most of the other instruments on the tracks on this link as well, with the exception of the vocals (although I did write them, as well as the lyrics). I haven't done any ocr collabs yet but I'm very interested. I don't mean to sound egotistical, but my skills are quite high, and I want a chance to work with some equally skilled musicians. I figured this is the place to do it. http://www.myspace.com/virtuousarmor
  14. If anyone's needing drums for their ocr project, let me know.
  15. The fact that we even have to debate whether or not the 3DS is a rehash or an entirely new system speaks volumes about Nintendo's recent strategy. We know there have been a million different ds and psp versions in the past few years, and it is difficult not to wonder if we shall be faced with another shortly.
  16. Love the jazz fusion swing treatment of the Super Mario World underground theme.
  17. Hey, since Apple computers have been using Intel architecture for a few years, it is possible to cleanly install both Windows and Macintosh. I used to use a mac to record, but now I use a pc. Windows is pretty buggy with cubase, so I tried dual booting mac, and let me tell you, it was difficult! Since it's different for every computer setup, it's hard to know what options to select during installation. After two full days of working on it, I finally finished the task. Whenever I start up my system, it boots to windows, but if I press F10, it boots to mac. Even on a pc, using a recording interface with the mac os is so much better! I've been recording for hours and haven't experienced any dropout or artifacts. Macintosh runs flawlessly, and in fact, my MIDI and recording latency went from 11.6ms to 8ms just by switching to mac! Since 8ms is fine I haven't tried to tweak it, but I bet I could get it down to 4 or 5ms. If anyone is interested in trying this on your own systems, let me know and I'll post all the best links. Or google "kalyway" and go from there! Oh, some interesting information- I took a gamble and ordered the Ion IED05 USB drumkit. http://cgi.ebay.com/ION-USB-Electron...item1e589ec3a3 It is a USB kit with six velocity-sensitive and durable pads, plus two pedals for a total of 8 channels. The cymbal pad can be choked and the left pedal switches the hi-hat channel when you press it. It's made by Alesis. The reviews I read on the kit stated that it was underfeatured and came with crappy samples, which is true, but they never mentioned that you can connect it to any vst-compatible recording software and run it through your drum vsti! You can even connect it to drumkit from hell! The thing costs $160, and for a recording drummer, that's an unbelievable price for what this product is capable of.
  18. Everyone always says the original link was a kid, but just because his sprite is small and cute doesn't mean he was a child. The Adventure of Link takes place just after the first game and Link is a young adult in that game.
  19. My apologies for disgruntling you, sir. My post was actually directed at the gentleman who submitted the song, as an alternative to yours and a few other opinions on there. It was not meant to provoke a response from you. In response to your suggestions, no, I'm not intimidated by your quoting the submission standards. Based on Judges' reviews on this forum, I suspect that your interpretation is less than accurate. No, I'm not closed-minded for suggesting that he can keep his string plucks right where he wanted them. Yes, I've already read several judges decisions, and yes I've read the submission standards. So, once again, sorry I disgruntled you!
  20. I hope the poster beneath me is not representing the general viewpoint of this site. I listened to the entire track and I found plenty of variations in there. I think the arrangement you're using is progressive and interesting. As far as using low quality samples, I think the quality of the arrangement is sufficient to dismiss that single shortcoming. I'm new on this forum so I don't have the general feel for the spirit of the place yet, but I hope that some of these dismissive posters I have seen thus far aren't the norm here. Some of these submission standards that have been reported on below are quite subjective, and from my interpretation they aren't meant to be combined like a dog-pile on an unsuspecting receiver. I believe they are meant to steer submissions toward a certain level of quality, and I believe some balance is needed during the weighing of them. Furthermore, these interpretations of your 'pizzicatos' are a bit personalized, aren't they? I mean, did they ask you if it was your intention for them to sound the way they do? Are they saying that fidelity is not an artistic variable in electronic music? I hope not, otherwise their opinions might be considered lacking in texture and understanding of the limitless nature of music and the imagination. And isn't it a little oxymoronic to suggest that electronic music must be humanized when it is based on a medium that was incapable of humanization? Sure, you could choose to humanize it for effect, but you chose not to, so I don't think you should "work on that" unless you see fit.
  21. I use a Gretsch Catalina ash kit, six piece. I use zildjian and sabian cymbals. I have a broad range of mics and condenser mics. For recording I have the firestudio, a ten channel 24 bit 96k recording interface and cubase studio 4. But for the purposes OCRemix collabs, I plan on using my electronic kit and hifi midi samples through a edrummer vst plugin.
  22. If anyone needs some skilled drumming on their projects let me know. I'm looking to help the scene however I can. I specifically want to do nes tunes; konami or capcom most preferably, but I'll help with whatever really.
