  1. this definitely takes the cake for my favorite Kai mix. i play this loud whenever possible cause it deserves to be Felt. the intro’s already remarkable, what with the way Kai develops the first minute and then layers on the bass. but that piano sequence around 2:00? dude. i Melt
  2. like an ocean breeze on a sunny day. that’s the kind of relaxant that this song is. the lead melody molds itself right into you, banishing away all thought, and by the time the choir comes around you feel like a million miles away
  3. oldschool r&b’s the name and its done very well. the bass and vinyl scratch are two things i happen to dig. not much else stands out individually, but taken as a whole this is great to chill to as long as you’re checking out NoppZ, be sure to get my favorite mix of his, Final Fantasy IV - Damcyan Gangsters (extend this bi0tch!!) surprisingly, the guy also has some great solo piano mixes: Zelda 64 - Ocarina Piano and Final Fantasy VII - Aeris Theme (Piano)
  4. what’s cool about this is that from the intro you can imagine the lead in the distance coming in louder and stronger, when BOOM, there it is center-fold. from there, it just keeps building, breaking down, and layering up. 2:44 gives me a high with each listen when the new synth joins the lead
  5. madd phat riddims. arrangement itself is tight. i love how the first minute is dedicated to that reggae bassline (it ownz Badly), transitions into a sweet despairing melody, and ends the last minutes on the bassline again. there’s a few songs that claim to be reggae on OC but this is the only one i’ve come across so far that has commercial appeal. now to get Hot 97 to pick this up..
  6. great mix. to be honest, i only listen up till 2:07; the second half bores me. but what’s there more than makes up for that. i like the Renaissance feel of it and this definitely uses of one of Russell’s more catchier leads (1:00). the way he expands on it totally makes this mix anyway, i’ve been sounding too negative. Russell’s released music elsewhere (http://squareamp.com/remixes.php) and i gotta say, they’re a lot more accessible than his OCRs. i Highly recommend Chrono Cross - Faraway Dreams, and following that Final Fantasy - The Elven Prince Awakens, Chrono Trigger - Promise of Friends, Final Fantasy VIII - Arriving . . ., and Chrono Trigger - The Sealed Door (Arranged)
  7. guess i’m not quite the Russell Cox aficionado that other people are. maybe it’s the source material..whatever, i find most of his OCRs boring. not this though. it’s got something in it that i wish his other mixes had: an actual, physical sense of motion like you’re adrift at sea, right from the intro. sweet
  8. that Metropolitan feel..ooh yea. intro's gotta be my favorite part with the catchy bassline and synth; also makes me feel like i’m taking a walk down the street. the breakbeat is tight, though i find it amusing for some reason. mad Powerpuff Girls yo
  9. without a doubt my favorite JAXX mix. it ain’t trance; it's a simple mix really. man, those breaks at 1:05, 2:15 own me. Endless. Flowing. i love the way the bass drops out and the beat pounds away. piano has the same aforementioned qualities as well, and complements the whole mix excellently
  10. has an underwater feel to it, especially when the waves pass by around 0:10, 0:20. arrangement decisions are superb. everything's spot on, and the timing of the thrash guitar's impressive. this is one of those mixes that’ll have you anticipating what will happen next
  11. been a while since i’ve listened to punk. there’s that fast bpm that i remember. one thing that always gets me in this mix occurs around 1:09. the way it breaks off and sounds majestic at the same time's very moving. the buildup around 1:52 also has some heartfelt emotion packed into it. great guitar playing, great drums
  12. step 1: adjust your volume to the Max position it makes all the difference, trust me. your hardcore/progressive style is something to be admired and i respect the fact that you add it to FF music, Orkybash. the Mood of this song r0x0rz pick up Orkybash’s Final Fantasy VII - Doomed World and Seiken Densetsu 3 - Few Paths Forbidden for more
  13. sweeping ambience & piano combination, and a great beat that alleviates the fact that this is a FF mix. that electro-synth that enters around 2:07 and then the freestyling piano around 2:22 still has a hold over me. good job
  14. downright magical. had to give this several listens to really appreciate, and i gotta say, that Dido-like drumbeat helps. of course, that could be because i’m partial to Thankyou. the progression in the mix also helps make it; Very controlled and intelligent
  15. dude, you know my secret passion for medieval music. what i like about this is the steady progression, from the way the strings slide in around 0:25, to that grooving beat that enters around 0:40, to the tempo change at 0:57
  16. never touched this game. but oh man, where the hell does all the nostalgia come from when i hear this? so familiar-sounding… Awesome beat, especially in the intro. everyone could use some Surf Rock once in a while
  17. good intro, nice use of the plucked "string." the lead melody’s great as well, but the main thing i focus in on in this mix is the pure BASS rhythm. it layers itself over Everything. yesss. excellent breaks too. the summer-y feeling’s achieved, which is exactly what the title states. aaah..Ibiza
  18. it’s true. this ain’t simple listening pleasure. the intro/outro may be a turn off for some but i gotta have my progressivism. the dramatic midbreak mellows things out though and pours in some oldschool energy as well (great, fitting vocal samples). so don’t hesitate on this one, clubbers
  19. love the first minute of this. around 0:35, the synth starts to sound late 80s, early 90s synth-pop. even the lead that enters later on doesn’t sound at all like the ones you’ll hear in Melodic Trance tunes of today. it don’t matter though. just goes to show that U-ji can mix up some creative things if he so chooses
  20. one of the finest mixes to grace OCR. the atmosphere ownz, can’t stress it enough. at times, it even seems tangible; it’s that thick. it’s the strings that steal the spotlight though. about 1:35, they come in quick and phrenetic, pleasuring my brain
  21. count on the chef to dish out sincere-sounding pieces. yeah this is short, but the slow and deliberate take on it makes it seem stretched out to infinity. lovin’ the strings if you’re looking for a similar sound, get his wondrous Seiken Densetsu 3 - Sea Breeze Strings mix
  22. oh shit son. i’m in jail. man, the slow & lazy tempo of this mix definitely can make one feel as if their life is on hold, idling away..which mine is..
  23. this sounds like one of those old black & white romance/murder flicks, the first half anyway. good latin-esque tunage. i prefer the second half however. starting about 1:45, i like the bittersweet/regretful feel incorporated into the mix. the very end’s especially touching, good chords
  24. wheee. this tune always reminded me of The Lion King, a fine movie if i do say so myself. the uber-cheerful vibe’s contagious. i can’t help but smile. the smooth guitar lead’s the best part, very catchy
