  1. Alright, so. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9kACHqqJIo Umm, can someone help me find instruments out of this? I need the main thing...the ambient one. I really need the bells that come in a little later, too. That'd be awesome. I'm using FL9 if that makes a difference.
  2. The kick could be a little stronger... I really like it, so if you could update it more, it would be soooo awesome. I really want to see how it turns out!
  3. Wildfire, I take it this was all you? If so, thank you! (And I'm still waiting for the Wii remote sleeve )
  4. I just got my third present from my guy. I can't believe how much he gave me!
  5. I got mine, thanks dude! That was totally unexpected. And, I'm about to send mine through email to my dude.
  6. Some things I might like... -iTunes/Wii Points/Gamestop giftcard (any one of those) -Any Wii accessory (virtual console controller, wii jacket, etc.) -Anything vintage (N64 Game, or something of the sort) -Anything else you might think I'd like, based on these things Hope that helps, secret person!
  7. I found a tutorial that covered the basics of FL, and it explained the playlist in a way that made me wish I had been using it. Just google "FL studio from beginner to expert." The first one talks about everything, the second talks about drumloops, but also heavily involves the playlist.
  8. See that's the thing--I was using the pattern editor because I had no idea how to use the playlist. (I don't know how to use the mixer, either.) So I've been trying to avoid it, but sometimes it's just hard not to use it. And I'm pretty comfortable with the program (I've had it for a year), it's just that I'm only playing around with it at this point, as I barely know how to use any of the vst's/synths/etc. included with it. Would you like to tutor me/direct me to some good tutorials on each?
  9. Ehh, don't worry about it. It's really my fault for not saying that it was intended for practice.
  10. Ok, to clear things up. This ended up being a mixing practice. When I said, "this might be the one that makes it," I didn't mean it like pure midi rip (which is the way it is at this point), I meant after it was done. I was using this midi for reference (only for the melody, at least that was my intent). I kind of ended this mix before I did any edits (changing up backing parts, intro, etc.), and so it sounds exactly like a midi from vgmusic. Is that a good explanation? I sure hope so.
  11. I've been using the pattern editor to remix things, but most people that make original songs use the playlist. What should I use?
  12. What are you talking about? Nothing was on youtube but the source. And, the official OCR WiP thingy is way better than dropbox.
  13. Not to be lazy, but I completely agree with everything that M249-M4A1 said. Dire Dire Docks could be woven in there, and maybe even one of the water themes from the SNES games could work. I love this, and I'm gonna follow it.
  14. Ok. I'll start over. Whatever. So from now on, you can pretend this thread is called, "Finished My Ridia V.1 - Lower Maridia Remix." I've got the rest of today and tomorrow off from school, so I've got that time to get up a new WiP. I'll start a new thread, so look out for that.
  15. Bumping again. No comments on the new version? Fine then.
  16. Sure can! Don't be afraid to make it whisper quiet or crazy loud in different parts too, as long as it doesn't clip.
  17. I hated this theme, until I heard this. I crit more on production than arrangement, so that's what I'll be talking about. 1. Clippyness. At the beginning, when the harp reaches its lowest notes, there's a whole lot of clipping. 2. Further in, at about half way, there's a whole lot of clipping. So, to fix that, you can work on volume mixing, or sometimes compression helps. Other than that, I think you're good. I'm gonna follow this one.
  18. I have a big, big question. Is this going to be hosted by OCR? Do you know?
  19. I cannot say anything bad about this at all, y'know, except the ending, but you already mentioned that. Sounds are great, and Link's scream is perfect. GREAT JOB!
  20. I'm gonna start with this: the piano is so close to the standard midi piano, nobody would be able to tell the difference. Personally like it, but just piano gets a little old. Maybe you should record it! That'd be cool. Great arrangement by the way. KEEP AT IT!
  21. Even though none of my threads are active, I decided to try and update this one. I'll take one week's worth of comments, then update and switch status to finished. I really don't want to keep this on the brain. Maybe I'll submit it, maybe not. So, here. This update includes two new synths, a conga drum part, and some slightly different nature sounds. Crits, go ahead and critique away!
  22. BUMP. 1.5 months with no reply. GREAT. EDIT: Now that I listened to the ending again, the final note doesn't echo quite as far. I must have taken out the silent note that made it echo. I'll fix that in the next update.
  23. Welcome to OCR. I agree with what's his name down there...oh yeah, Mak. Maybe a composed solo? Or just some other part you've composed on your own. It IS "covery," so that would help. OCR is more about arrangement than production, and since the production sounds fine, arrangement is the only thing left to do.
  24. And you still might as well submit it once people here say it's good enough. I've seen straight covers (dare I say MIDI RIP) accepted. So you have a chance. You still might want to add something to it, like a solo, or something completely new. It might not need it, but it could help you out. Oh, and do what Rozo says.
  25. I meant it like, at first, I didn't recognize the themes, so I thought that most of it was composed. But once you pointed them out, I saw that there really wasn't much composed at all. So now I think it's conservative. Add some more of your own, and it'll be up to OCR's standards.
