  1. New drum kit. Link. Is it better? I think it sounds less sampled but still real. Well now I've changed everything I feel like I know how to do at this point. Should I possibly say it's finished?
  2. Flutey goes Synthy. Link. So, in the next version, I'll fix the "offending frequencies" (still don't know what they are). Maybe add something else too? I don't know yet.
  3. Both of these are great, but this one is my favorite. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it at all. Those sound effects just put the icing on the cake--I loved them. This thing could be accepted easy. I've heard much worse accepted--and this ain't that.
  4. It's really not all that hard. I don't know why you'd NEED a usb keyboard--all you'd really need for FL is your computer keyboard. Z to Period is one octave with sharps and flats, and then Q to P is another octave with sharps and flats. Soundfonts work wonders. DmiHammer has a VSTi that has a steel drum on it. Put it in the C:\Program Files (x86)\VSTPlugins path on a Windows computer (Vista). Here it is! Update on MediaFire/Tindeck. Not Youtube.
  5. I like the beat and the choir, but the rest is really just a track. I mean, it's a great concept and all, but maybe you should do something else with the actual theme. Like maybe recreate it with other instruments? This will help. You should try and recreate the steel drums for sure. They're really nice. And another thing, the choir is sometimes so far off key it made me want to turn it off. Try and fix that. That beat is really good though. PS. Youtube sucks quality down the ever-flushing toilet. Try using MediaFire (free), or Tindeck (also free).
  6. Courtney's slow right now, but we have a track! It's gonna be a medley of the Underground Crateria and the Space Pirate themes. It'll be good. If we ever get started. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Now, back to this song. I still don't know what you were talking about with the lead. I think it sounds fine. And with the drums, how could I make them work? A different drum kit, maybe? More reverb to soften it? I just don't know. Working on something with it right now where that flutey part goes synthy. It'll be good.
  7. I was saying that something extra that's not "sourcey" might add to it. The vibrato effects are really nice--they add a lot to the long notes, so that it's not just hanging there. Man, those percussion loops! Those are great! I've never heard anything like this on here. Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee submission acceptance, but I've heard much, much worse that's actually been evaluated and accepted. Once again, keep it up!
  8. SOOO many! This is miserably stupid. Stupid Sonic one. Stupider. Stupid Metroid Fusion song. Another stupid Metroid one. This makes me feel like a failure.
  9. Sounds VERY close to the source. But other than that, I like it a whole lot. I don't know what you could add, and I really don't have any suggestions on what to fix, cause there's nothing that I see that needs fixing. Keep it up!
  10. Sorry to be such a n00b, but "production?" What? I wanted to stay close to the source for this one, if that matters... I don't hear what you're talking about with the lead. What about the drums doesn't belong? I think they sound fine, but apparently nobody else does. I probably won't continue this much longer unless I get a big idea. Altermentality and me are going to do a collaboration, so that's what we'll be working on primarily, if Courtney ever gets back to me on what track to do.
  11. New Version. Again. -New Lead Version- Added a new lead in the bridge, reminiscent of a Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Sanctuary Fortress lead instrument. Is it doing well? Is the new lead good for it? I have questions, do you have answers?
  12. No criticism, but I still think that the nostalgia effect sounds would add to it a whole lot.
  13. New Version. -Added Pad- So that you guys can be more specific to me about which part I think is what... Intro: 00:00 to 00:24 Chorus: 00:24 to 00:54 Bridge: 00:54 to 01:24 Chorus: 01:24 to 02:06 End: 02:06 to End It sounds better with pad, right?
  14. I'm gonna get this thread closed. This one won't ever be good enough. I promise.
  15. Better, but I still think that it could be a tad bit earlier. It could go either way.
  16. Please submit it! I think, actually, I KNOW it'd make the cut. I JUST KNOW IT!
  17. I used SPCTool, and for the sounds from Brinstar 1, the sound was just static noise. And then for the part that wasn't, I didn't have time to tune that much. So a soundfont is my best option.
  18. A conga part, huh? Never thought of that. Too bad I've never done any drums at all by myself. I just can't do them. That might even be the reason why I didn't want to put them in in the first place. Can somebody help me with that?
  19. At first, I didn't know what the Ice Cap Zone bgm was. But after getting on this site, I remembered it. Just wanted to make sure that everyone knew where he was coming from.
  20. I like version 2, but at the beginning, the piano and guitar seem on different tempos, or in other words, the guitar comes in half way through a beat, making it sound weird. I guess if this was done on purpose, I'll stop complaining about it, but I think it'd be wise to do something about it. Don't get me wrong--I do like v2. But some parts (instruments, ADSR) of it weren't awesome to start with. Keep working at it. And please believe me when I say I don't mean to sound harsh. That's just how I happen to sound.
  21. First of all, be sure to quote a source, so people can compare. I like it, overall. I think that some of your instruments are a little too detuned, and they come in a little late for me, and unless that was done on purpose, it's something you might want to fix. I can't really think of anything to add. At the 3:00 mark, I love that change. I support drastic/not so drastic changes in a song. I love it when that happens/people do that. But the guitar (I think that's what it is) seems a little too fake. This sounds negative, but I really do like it. Just try to find a way to combine reviewer's comments into your own song. Good luck!
  22. Do not chop off that end part. I like it.
