Hi @Bundeslang. First, I want to sincerely thank you for keeping PRC going for as long as you did. PRC was a huge part of my development as an artist in the early days of OCR along other older competitions like IMC and I made a lot of collabs and friends in these competitions. I am no longer making music, nor I am around online much but when I saw the email about this PRC being the last I had to jump in to salute and thank you and the oher artists.
I would say the absolute best part of being part of the community by far were PRC and other compos. The constraints of the competitions I felt really helped me break out of some walls, and some of the remixes I made here both as sir_nuts and as showroom dummy made the jump to the front page.
Again thank you and all of those who participated over the years. Hope you are doing great and wish you nothing but the absolute best in the future.I have similar feeling towards this post. I really looked up'd to SIr's tracks along with a lot posters, OneUp especially (whenever you guys posted, we had a real compo on our hands.) I was really encouraged by everyone's remix and especially their crisp production. Doing these competitions was never about winning The ultimate reward for entering the compo was just the feedback from everyone. You could be the last loser, and your feedback to me was just as important, that's how we grew. I miss that.
I hold a little pride knowing that I was the only guitarist to hold his weight with some of the giants from the compo forum; back then recording guitars we're sooo difficult to. Production and creativity were so hand-in-hand.
I'm from America, but I actually moved to Beijing, China 10 years ago for work. I still live here. That's ultimately why I dropped off making music. The thought lingers heavily.
But due to this forum, someone from this forum bought some nice recording gear to help me make some music for a game--the game never succeeded (he is somewhere on the OCR--thank you). I would ultimately like to see a revival.
I'm somewhat active on Instagram under the same username.
Biggest thanks you. You helped everyone. You kept this thing going.
May I ask,
Who was your favorite artist?? Spicy question

This one of my all time favorites

I support this, but I think other things are now more important for PRC...
Like what?

Voted. Btw, I also thought what held this back was the never being able to select a previous songs. So now everything is just obscure songs. I think you should cancel that rule—or limit it to a year. Allow rematches to add previous entries get added to the voting pool. Also the collabs we're my favorite~

I can supply the drums if you (or anyone) wants to supply everything else for a rock/metal version.
Interesting notion. This round is close to ending, perhaps the next round?

This source needs heavy guitars and drums

I've been enjoying this plugin a lot, Bad Buss Mojo, on my kick (and sometimes bass) to add some fatness and dirt.
It's free-ish, evaluation copy just means you have to wait 5 seconds when you load it up. Worth it

Nice source. Anyone want to collab?

Simple,
I want to know:
What did you do to make your mix sound better than your last one -
Off the next two days if anyone wants to collab a beast groove
-
You are a genius.

The midi file doesn't work for me :/

I did a guitar cover of this a few years ago

Wow, this might have been the hardest round for me to vote on ever. I had listen to everyone's mix several times. Each remix sounded really good and I could hear you're guys' individual qualities in each one which was really cool. Yes I had to make a vote, but there was certainly no losers this round. Every remix was very well made and enjoyable to listen to.
-
WTF you are from Richmond too?
lol how about that, fellow RVA'er in the PRC. What are the odds
-
Man, that Star Control 2 source is so up my alley.
-
Man, I missed the voting! I enjoyed everyone's remix, it would have been hard to play favorites anyways
-
Why would you want to mix in mono? Every single tv, headphones, every modern speaker system, etc. is capable or reproducing stereo. Stereo is far superior. not being confrontational, you've just peaked my interest.
-
Awesome job OneUp! I had a great time listening to your remix haha

This seems to me like the same theme as the Battlefield 3 theme, for which there was a PRC already that I participated in. It has the exact same melodies and motifs, with some minor differences in the way it's arranged.
Yeah, its basically the same theme. I remember picking that source for BF3! Oh well, I'll definitely enjoy hearing the remixes
-
I hope no one gets tired of metal crossovers because more are coming! I'm not working on a different style until I get a 1st place metal mix on PRC!
At last I am no longer the only one that submits metal remixes
