  1. What's January's theme? ...or am I too early?
  2. http://soundcloud.com/evan-mcardle/out-of-control If you're reading this, could you please post some feedback on this track?
  3. Thanks. I think I have some grasp on it now. I've looked on Wikipedia to learn a bit more. Is there anybody here that currently works as a DJ that can explain their work? Insight from such a person would be much appreciated.
  4. Wobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwobwob At the start of the year, I wouldn't have listened to dubstep at all. Now, somehow, I'm finding myself listening to it way more than I probably should. Why?
  5. In the last month or two, I have had heaps of people commend me on my music (not trying to brag). The "Curiosity" link in my signature is actually a link to my soundcloud account, so you can take a look for yourself. About a dozen of those people suggest that I should consider being a DJ. That sounds like a good idea, but I have next to no idea what DJ-ing involves. I know that they play songs and scratch discs, and the good ones make their own music, but that's about it. So I have two questions: 1) With the level of knowlege and competency of music that I have so far, how difficult would this be for me to do? 2) What exactly does it mean to be a DJ: a) both 20-30 years ago when it was new and Nowadays? Thank you for your input.
  6. Yep, ready whenever you are. What are the lines?

  7. Are you still searching?

  8. Is it dynamic enough now? (See first post for link) I also reduced the volume for the bass, like Wii Tank suggested.
  9. Who likes Dubstep? Who likes Sparta Remixes? If you like either, or both, you have got to listen to this. Although it is finished, it will still need to be mastered. Nevertheless, here it is. And in case you were wondering, I made this from scratch, only taking soundbites from the movie, and listening to other remixes. 10. It seems that you're being a bit stingy and restrictive with your offer. Most people will overlook this proposal if all they're going to get back is five copies of what they already have. It's not a very appealing offer, to be honest. Most musicians swarm whenever there's money involved, though...
  11. Hey! How's the song going? Did you do anything more with it?

  12. I made a few minor alterations. I also changed the ending, like Korak The Mad suggested, and I think you'll like it... Also switched this thread to "MOD REVIEW". Hopefully they'll notice.
  13. While lying in my bed late one night, trying to get to sleep, I suddenly got this song. I thought it to be witty and interesting, so I sung it softly to myself, and went back to trying to get to sleep. It didn't go away. In fact, it plagued me for another hour. And then almost as soon as I woke up, I remembered it again, and it plagued me for another hour and a half. Eventually, I decided that I'd try to make the song, so I could still keep it without it interrupting my regular thought processes. So... here is the song. I checked to see if someone else had done this (via Google), and the only thing that came up was one person's Twitter post, so I am sure that this is original, and not a subconscious rip-off of something that's been done years ago (you wouldn't believe how much that happens to me). Here's a Youtube video for those that don't like Soundcloud. From now on, I'm going to post a link to this whenever someone tries to troll me. Please give me any feedback, direction, and money (jk) you have for me. Evan McArdle
  14. Okay, after months of hiatus, I started to work on some of my songs again... (See first post for track) I improved some of the samples, so that they're not Halion. I personally like the way it is arranged. Unless someone can pose a better arrangement, I'm going to stick with what I've got.
  15. This may be too liberal for the judges to accept, but I think this is very clever. Do not abandon this. Keep it. Forever.
  16. ReMix is missing. Could you please repost a link?
  17. The bass is great, The trumpet is great, The strings are great, the organ is AMAZING! The only thing I disliked was that the drums can be a bit overbearing at times: 0:00-0:42, 0:45-1:13, 1:58-2:34 (just a bit), and 2:51-3:12. If you just turned down the drum's volume, that would be easily solved.
  18. Yeah, I agree with Emperor Charlemagne . This is clever: I would never have thought to put it in this style! I love the layering, and the way you guys built it up. Despite that though, if you were planning to submit this, then you may have to adjust a few things for OC ReMix to accept it: 1) They'll want more variation (This happened to me a lot). Essentially, it just means throwing in another song or making up a short original part in the song. 2) The bass at 0:15 sounds a bit sharp at the start. No other complaints, this is great. Keep mixing with your band.
  19. Okay, after months of this sitting dormant, I gave the Halion instruments different samples, since nobody likes their sound quality. This version is better. Not perfect...but better. http://soundcloud.com/evan-mcardle/everything-is-ice Please comment.
  20. I started off trying to make my first Dubstep track, and I ended up with a Video Game tribute. No idea how that happened... http://soundcloud.com/evan-mcardle/aquaria-tribute It's still a work in progress, though. Not really sure where to go from here. Any ideas?
  21. There you go: http://soundcloud.com/evan-mcardle/burning-like-metal
  22. Sounds great, although the guitar needs to be in sync with the beat. I was thinking of a phrase that I was going to call a song some time ago: "Burning Like Metal". So this became the Chorus lyrics: This is what we used to know. They killed it so long ago. We'll burn it up higher: This funeral fire! I'll send you a vocal track on Soundcloud soon. It would really help if you told me the BPM, though.
