  1. You forfeit your punch when you declined your invitation
  2. Lol, Nathan's already left with nothing but treble I sense an imminent internet punch <3 u Ecto
  3. YES, it's been irking me all week, now I finally have an excuse to post a source breakdown: Beginning to :18 - Sheldon intro :18 to :36 - More straightforward Sheldon, with interp on the A melody :36 to :54 - Groovin' on Turtloid's intro bassline with alterations in the 2nd and 4th bars to help it fit the progression :54 to 1:30 - Really. Really. Really straightforward Turtloid A melody 1:30 to 1:48 - Turtloid A2 melody, immediately following the A melody in the source (with a lead-in to the next phrase from the Sheldon intro) 1:48 to 2:06 - Same thing with different instrumentation and some harmonies added 2:06 to 2:15 - Yuck, awful transit in this unpolished version to Sheldon bridge with lots of alterations to chords etc. 2:15 to 2:33 - Sheldon outtro that lasts waaayyy too long 2:33 to 2:40 - Sheldon bass break with extended drum break, used as a lead in for... 2:40 to End - Sheldon stuff from earlier As I mentioned before, 0:00 to 0:36, Sheldon; 0:36 to 2:06, Turtloid; 2:06 to 3:26, Sheldon. That's 1:56 of Sheldon, 1:30 of Turtloid. 43.5% Turtloid, 56.5% Sheldon... Looks pretty close to equal to me. Not that I'm complaining, I'm thrilled that you guys apparently liked my entry I'm just really confused that you're not hearing the Turtloid is all. Hope that clears things up! (and I did end up polishing it, and I WILL post that version at the end of the round, and likely sub it soon after!)
  4. Hey, all that sounds good to me. I'm a HUGE SNES fanboy, so it wasn't really a huge gripe, just kinda thinking out loud. Gonna echo the "good luck" statement! I may be around, I'm trying to work something up for SNESology at the moment, trying to make this sliver of free compositional time count while I've got it Also, I've seen a bit of Genesis music around, it's not terribly hard to find. Harder than SNES, but still, you don't have to turn over too many stones. Turbografx/NeoGeo music would be fun
  5. If it's only SNES music, you may want to consider changing the name; there were, after all, more than one 16 bit system Just a thought
  6. Almost done polishing, next step submission :3 I'll post it here when this round is done, but only if you promise to finish yours
  7. :36-2:06 is Turtloid. 1:30/3:36 = roughly 43%. That's... not that brief
  8. DAMMIT I WAS ABOUT TO POST SOMETHING LIKE THIS BUT MY WORK INTERNET BLOCKED ME. But yeah, finish that. I need you to. I got the jimmie ears, man... It's serious
  9. It means you're "friends" with them, all facebook style and stuff
  10. Fuck I just realized that I biffed the naming on my sub. Apologies, DS
  11. Didn't have time to develop as much as I'd've liked, and production is ass in some spots, but I hope y'all enjoy regardless BRING IT MATT!!
  12. Unfortunately, I didn't get a weekend, and I only have an hour left before I have to leave (KU marching band is playing at the Chiefs game, you could probably see me on TV if you tune in ) to make call time. However, this thing is still tasty. I may not have gotten all the time I wanted with this, but it's still one of my best yet, if not THE best.
  13. Me neither. I may very well be sitting on my best VGM remix to date
  14. Loving all this stuff. When my time frees up a bit, I'd LOVE to get involved in making some SNES tunes. I can't wait till I get things taken care of and clear things off of my commitment plate a little so I can start
  15. Yes, exactly; ending phrases so that they flow into the following segment less jarringly
  16. Just use some cowbell. That's what I'm doing. That's right. Cowbell.
  17. I'm gonna try to do something with Character Select + Something Else from the original Smash Brothers. Hopefully I'll have enough time, what with other obligations (Maverick being one of them). If someone else submits something before me, I'll still probably finish up my mix and send it to you for the hell of it EDIT: When you say "ONE remix" you don't mean only one source, right? I love the Char Select theme, I'm just not sure there's enough material in all EIGHT REPETITIVE BARS OF IT for a full remix, haha
  18. I'm bringing the heat this week. Remix is shaping up nicely, though I only have about :45 Matt I hope you're having as much fun with the sources as I am!! As Tuberz said, I'm excited to see what my opponent brings to the table, as well as all the rest o' ya
  19. Now you're getting it! Weird is the name of the game!! PS: Christmas carols aren't off limits
  20. Hey this is pretty cool The piano sounds pretty mechanical, some of it's the sample/dryness of processing, some is the lack of velocity modulation. I hear that "FL Studio Hit 5" in there too may wanna process it more, or stack other samples on top, etc. Just whatever it takes to make it less identifiable. Chimes are a sweet idea, but they're when they're holding a more melodic line, it's usually a better idea to have them more in the back of the soundscape, with reverb and additional processing where necessary. This has huge potential for lots of things; first, I'd love to see a humongous climax. I'm a big whore for that kind of thing, and it would give the composition more direction too. There's also room for lots of cinematic textures. If you're unsure of what I'm talking about, look up the Evolve Mutations sound packs from Native-Instruments and check out the demo tracks to get some inspiration. Not a bad start, keep it coming pH
  21. Hahaha, can't say I've heard that one before ;) Still looking forward to seeing what you come up with

  22. GO EASY ON YOU?! Hell nah man, I'm bringing it all, and I expect you to do the same!! And I'm not opposed to seeing your WIPs, but I imagine it wouldn't be to your benefit Best of luck man, Turtloid and Sheldon is gonna be a fun one!
