  1. SPOILS YOIt annoys me to no end that people are complaining about Peter Parker being too "wimpy" or "nerdy," and the fact that he uses web cartridges. THAT'S THE WAY IT WAS IN THE FUCKING COMICS. This isn't Tobey Maguire Spider-Man (which was kind of shit imo). And besides, Andrew Garfield blew it out of the water. Apprehensive about himself and brooding because of how much death he's witnessed at such a young age, yet still has such a strong desire to help people in need, and able to crack some wise. Perfect Peter Parker. It felt to me like an awful lot of story to develop and pack into... even the 2.25 hours it lasts. Parts of it felt kinda rushed to me. Not to mention the crraaaaapp CGI... but I saw it in 2D, and I feel like it was the opposite of what usually happens with 2D/3D films, where its filmed in 2D and then converted to 3D as an afterthought, and looks awful in 3D. I genuinely feel like this movie would've looked even better in 3D than in 2D, and that's how the creators intended it. That being said, the action sequences were AMAZING, and I love Garfield even more for doing most of his own stunt work. I'm really curious what they're going to do with the story; I'm really, REALLY hoping Marvel makes a deal with Sony to have Spider-Man in the Avengers story. Since they're making Iron Man, Cpt. America, and Thor sequels, I think they'd have time, and certainly space for a Spidey sequel before joining. But the fact that Norman Osborn wasn't mentioned much, and looking at the new War Machine costume, it'd be absolutely EASY to have Osborn get his hands on the suit and become the Iron Patriot, making the Avengers public enemies and heading the Dark Avengers in a third outing of the series. Wouldn't that be fucking awesome?! WOULDN'T IT?! In case you didn't know, I have an enormous nerd boner for comic book stories
  2. Oh good, I'm even wearing my chiptune shirt while I'm listening. But a change of pants seems to be in order
  3. Hahaha... did he send you a message? Sounded like he was too busy, but hey, it was worth a shot, right?
  4. Dude, go ahead and join the compos regardless of if you think you're "up to snuff." I've improved SO much by competing and getting criticism and feedback here, it's a bit ridiculous. Should've heard me a year ago Anyway, this is nice. Not sure I'd call it trance, it's got more of a dark ambient feel to it. Seems a bit repetitive, but that's sort of a staple of the style, it's not really a bad thing here. It never really *bores* me, just anticipate what's going to happen next more. Excellent soundscape too. Glitchy drums are super cool
  5. Oh, DUH, I knew that... I've written shitloads of drumline music in Sibelius. That writing knowledge seemed to have run off to a far corner of my brain. Oops! I'll give you that... Finale is one of the worst designed and most clumsy programs I've ever had the displeasure of... well, buying. And as such, it's my only means of scoring, and so the only program that I'm really experienced with. I looked up LMMS, it looked similar but I can't be sure without actually getting in there and trying it out for myself. I'm pretty sure there IS a free demo version of FL (which was just rated #1 DAW by Synthtopia, so you bet I'm a proud FL user ), so get in there and check it out if you want, or don't and keep your eyes peeled for something else. I'm honestly not really sure about other Windows DAWs. I've heard things about Acid and Reaper, but never really used either for myself, so I couldn't tell you. I could put you in contact with people who use both though, if you so desire. I really am quite surprised with how well you're doing in Sibelius, which makes me more anxious to see what you'd do with a full power sum'bitch
  6. Congrats on making the front page! It's been a long time coming. I'll be sure to follow soon :D

  7. Well, the thing with chiptunes is that less actually forces you to produce more because of the limitations. Granted, I'm working in FL, so I'm not *technically* limited, but you gotta get inside the mind of a chip composer and learn how a tracker works if you want your stuff to sound authentic. It's not all about the pitch bends though; there's duty modulating on pulse waves, arpeggios, stutters, all kinds of stuff to give it that "chippy" sound
  8. It wasn't all meant for Lucavi, those were general statements. That post was just the one to make me say "Ok, enough is enough; we're all musicians here with a common interest, and this shit shouldn't be happening, ever." When people start feeling like this, it's time to speak up. So I did EDIT: and Rexy.. you can't tell me you wouldn't be up in arms if he'd predicted B-Strade vs. Amph...
  9. That's not the point, the point is posting stuff like that is a real downer for the people he's not rooting for. I'd be pissed if I was in Gario or Amph's shoes. And hell, I'm still a little pissed on their behalf anyway. Everyone who's made it this far has more than proved themselves to be talented musicians, and the rounds are totally up in the air. "Calling it" is basically saying there's mixers who are clearly better than others competing, and that's just not the case here. And even if it WAS the case, it's still a dick move to rub it in someone's face. There's been a lot of beating around the bush, but I'm just shooting straight. "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all," to quote everybody's mother I mean, come on guys... nobody wants to be undermined. And that's ALL that's been going on lately. I'm sick of it. Everyone who's being a poor sport, knock it off. It's a competition, we're here to be pitted against each other. But we're here to be pitted against each other FOR FUN, not to shit on each other. Cut it out Learn something from Brandon
  10. You do realize that stuff like this is not particularly respectful to the remixers involved, yes?
  11. The soundscape on this one is a bit drier, but there IS a bit of subtle delay to fatten up the sound (which you can hear when the note lets off at the softer section). I also chose to keep the notes as pure sustain rather than a shitload of vibrato and stuff because of the harmonizations that happen later. But, that being said, I do need to work on the expressiveness of my leads. Mainly the ones that are just custom waveforms plugged into the triple oscillator (which is most of what I use), because a lot of the expressiveness is really annoying to do, but I suppose I should stop being lazy haha. SO much easier with something like PoiZone (which is really the only other synth I use (because poor kid is poor), and as such am getting a pretty good grasp of it). There's still lots of portamento going on though, I just kind of wanted that melody to do its thing as is. The sustains work, especially on the harmonies Actually, no reason. Felt like it, and now I'm rationalizing Glad you're digging though
  12. Hey man, no worries! Any comments are appreciated, and it's feedback all the same. Besides, this forum gets... I believe to quote zircon, "woefully low traffic," and getting any sort of comments is like pulling teeth. So hey, like I said, anything's appreciated. Keeping a straight quarter at all the messy odd meter stuff isn't a bad idea. I'll mess around with that. The chimey things are actually samples from Link's Awakening, which is one of my favotire 8 bit OSTs. If you listen closely at the drop that follows, there's also another sound effect to make the impact more... impactful Thanks again!
  13. YAYAY TEMPLE JAMS!! Great mix, in a genre I absolutely love doing myself
  14. Hahahaha! Making the change

  15. Ooooh, synth solo! Good idea guys. I've been looking for ways to improve the arrangement, and that could be what gets the creative juices flowing to do it. I can definitely work with the expressiveness of the lead... It's annoying to do vibrato work, because most of my synths are actually custom waveforms plugged into a super basic oscillator with a shitload of processing I didn't have time to do it when I was initially working on this, because I procrastinated till the last night of my mixing round to put it together, but I can certainly work with it now that there's no time crunch. And professional you say!? Haha, I don't think I'm there yet, but I have learned a LOT in the year I've been working with FL, and I'm really excited to be improving. I fully intend to be at a professional level sometime, but I've got some work to do Thanks for all the feedback guys! pH
  16. This is awesome man. That note at 1:10 still might be a tiny bit piercing, but if no one else has said anything, it may just be my headphones. Extra piano zazz is fucking ritzy as hell. I need a top hat and a cane to swing around when that part comes on. Things feel sort of rushed tempo-wise after the trumpet solo, you may mess with lowering the tempo of the whole thing. That rhythmic synth would be way cool just a *tiny* bit slower. But at the same time, you don't want it to drag, and the rushed feeling may be inevitable after the trumpet solo just as a function of the arrangement. Idk, play with it, and if it's best where it's at, then by all means, don't listen to me Great piece man, glad you're gonna sub!
  17. Wow, what the fuck is going on here? Kinda pissed my drums are now associated with self-righteous assery, to be honest... The drama's not really necessary on anyone's part I already made my feelings clear about Jordan's mix. Shit was hella smooth
  18. Holy wow Amph, I feel like I'm a-gonna float away while listening to your track. Nice, nice sex work (typo, but WAY too good to change) Xenon! Rexy ur drums r suk
  19. Thanks man! I'm hoping so too haha. Glad you're digging though Lemme know what you think when you get a good listen in
