  1. It took me a long time to respond to this because I really needed time to process what some of you said....... That being said, while I will consider remixes again, BlackPanther, I'll need to think about who I am first......
  2. Have we spoken before? If not, then how do you know that?
  3. I've been gone for a long time, and I fully acknowledge that. To be honest, the reason I've been gone is because I haven't had the best experience here, given the elaborate criticisms over my music attempts. I've had time to improve when it comes to EQ'ing and mastering, thankfully, yet I'm still hesitant to do anything here related to remixes, even if it will help promote me. Do YOU all think I should dabble with game music remixes again?
  4. Going to start off this revival thread by saying that I may or may not finish a project I started of an alternate soundtrack to Minecraft. Here are two pieces I wrote for that project. http://sgtyayapproductions.bandcamp.com/track/underwater http://sgtyayapproductions.bandcamp.com/track/starry-night
  5. Sounds like we're sort of in the same boat: I also question why my most original material seems to sound not as good as the original material by someone else. And when I say my most original work, I also have the fear of risking musical plagiarism, even despite I'm trying to make my own stuff.
  6. I've had a fear of pretty much everything in my life, and music is no different. Sometimes I feel like my original music could be so much better, and the fact that virtually no one will even listen to my music, let alone buy it, doesn't help the matter.
  7. Well, first of all, I have reluctantly returned to this site out of desperation. Don't expect me to submit any remixes, though, as I have learned the hard way that they're not something I'm good at. A new album of mine is out, which focuses primarily on '80s music. http://sgtyayapproductions.bandcamp.com/album/prison-of-the-mind-2 It can also be argued that this was influenced by '90s game soundtracks.
  8. Tried to think of something completely original, and came up with this. Ideas for how to elaborate and/or improve on it would be deeply appreciated. http://soundcloud.com/sgtyayap404/symphony-of-the-waves-work-in
  9. Commented on the site. My username there is Python Blue.
  10. You didn't have to delete the original; I wanted to compare, for one. As for the current version, it sounds nice. Not sure if Celtic would be the right description, but it certainly sounds classical. Reminds me faintly of a famous Baroque piece I heard recently, but its name escapes me at the moment.
  11. http://soundcloud.com/sgtyayap404/demolition-work-in-progress Some more intense music, for a change. Loosely inspired by the early Wipeout games. Comments, even constructive criticism, would be deeply appreciated.
  12. Fair enough about lack of build. Keep in mind, however: this is supposed to be gameplay music, which, unlike film and game-cinematic music, tends to have a fairly constant mood. Thank you for the comment!
  13. Thank you very much for the comment! Fair enough about your critique. Yes, I did use Logic Pro. It's hard to say how many layers I used right away, though; even if I remembered how many tracks produced this, I'm beginning to harness the multichannel technology of MIDI for single tracks. :/ Thank you again for the comment!
  14. Some music for an upcoming (nameless) mod of Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Constructive criticism is gladly welcomed. http://soundcloud.com/sgtyayap404/the-caves
  15. Definitely looks interesing. I admit I'm reserved for the digital synthesizers of the past, but still, it looks like a nice virtual analog. XD
  16. Opening some of my pieces up to critique, again, starting with this. http://soundcloud.com/sgtyayap404/the-underworld Originally meant for an alternate Minecraft soundtrack, but I now doubt the atmosphere suits the game at all. NOTE: Any constructive criticism relating to the composition (i.e. the melody) and the mastering will be accepted and, in some cases, even welcomed. However, what sounds I used, for the most part, is who I am as a musician.
  17. I'm actually curious as to this question for advice on building a fanbase, myself, even despite the advice given by the first replier. I have a Facebook page, and have been updating it somewhat regularly, yet last time I checked, I only have 40 fans, only one or two of whom have posted on my page's Wall. I also compose a piece at least twice a week, so whether I have enough music to attempt to promote is out of the question for me.
  18. Anyone contributed the soundtracks to the first two Myst games? I highly recommend those if you're into slower game music.
  19. Figured I'd make a thread dedicated to the increasingly-popular (at least among sound designers) software and sound libraries dedicated to old-school synth sounds. Any contributions regarding what software/sounds you own and what you recommend will be welcomed. For me, I'm starting to get attracted to the Digital Sound Factory brand, which is primarily dedicated to recreating the sounds of '80s-to-late-'90s Emu and Ensoniq products. I'm also big on the software versions of Korg's digital synthesizers (M1 and Wavestation) and the Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V.
  20. Both, actually. Thank you for clarifying. I admit I've been sticking to the default Minecraft servers with Hamachi, so I don't know much about Bukkit.
  21. I only hesitantly returned, and no one should expect me to attempt more remixes over original music, which I'm apparently better at. As for the topic, phill, what do you mean by plugins, out of curiosity? My mod installer, MCPatcher, for the most part, works fine with 1.2.3.
  22. .....why did you post this just after I updated? In any case, I did take your biggest suggestion and modified some of the sounds, as well as threw in an electric guitar with what I consider a realistic-sounding guitar amp (I used Guitar Rig 5).
  23. Bump in order to inform that I updated the piece with most of the suggestions.
  24. Thankfully, Light_of_Aether, the second and third improvements were already suggested, so I had already planned to work on those. Though, for the first suggestion, the source material's influence actually came in at :32/:33, when the piano/choir chords kick in.
