  1. No point in listing them all when none of them has a single remix. But I would want you to provide links to guilty gear fansites and the likes.
  2. Thanks a bunch, guys. Leaves us only 2 unkown... #101 reminds me of the vampire in the graveyard in Baldur's Gate II, sort of. While similar, I wouldn't dare guess they're the one and same. They look like they could be in the same game universe though. About pac-man; since there's so little to little to write about the person, try to further emphasize his impact on the world of gaming, the fact that the first game has a gazillion (well, maybe not quite that many) flash remakes online... or something. We could use at least one more paragraph here. And please, add links to your bios! This one would go well with the pac-man bio: http://www.flamingmayo.com/firstchurchofpacman/ . We could even have a link that says "Play pac-man now!" We could leave this linkage work for later, but it'd be so much easier if we all just did it right away.
  3. Shame. His was one of the more inventive remixes. In fact, I can't really hear the source tune in the mix, because it's hidden so well... heh. Crap, this is not what we need. We need people joining in and finishing their songs, not quitting and leaving a WiP for us to mourn by. I have a new WiP (#5) at the same adress as last time. This one's about a minute longer. Tell me what you think of that last minute of it and whether I should scrap that part and try something else or if I should try to polish it before releasing a final version. Also, please upload both WiP 4 and 5 to the site... I'm still on WiP 3 there.
  4. Yeah, we're doing pretty good right now, thanks to you guys. You rock Katamari Damacy certainly has some cool box art. Won't people get mad at the Prince for swiping everything useful from the ground? Oh, and, maybe we should ask someone who knows Japanese about how to pluralize katamari, in case someone should find that to be of any significance. It's probably not worth the effort. The only one I know to know Japanese would be pixietricks... and the guy who posted in the general forum saying the katakana in the OCR logo was funny looking. Meh. Nevermind. Thanks a ton, all of you. If we keep this up, we'll have the bios finished before summer and will only have to reorganize things during it to have the project complete before school starts this fall. These are just dreams of mine, of course. Anything I do takes a long time, it seems, but I'm working on a Tomb Raider bio, one for ToeJam & Earl and a Yoshi one, so leave those to me for now. I also have 3 or so WiP's in the forum.
  5. Wow. Well, just keep the quality up, and you can post as many bios as you like, man. You'll soon have passed watkinzez in bio count at this rate. One thing though - try to make the creator company name a link to the company, instead of plain text, as shown in your last bio. It's only a small thing, but it'll need to be fixed in the end anyway.
  6. , Linearity! Yeah, sometimes it feels like the people writing the manual didn't even talk to the people who made the game. And, I mean, look at the box for Megaman 1 (NES, US version, click here for more info). *Lols*
  7. Well, umm, the thing is, the reason this turtle rock theme is so weird musically is that it's playing C,D,F#,G#, and then Bb,C,E,F#, back to C,D,F#,G# and then D,E,G,Bb or equivalent. No melody will fit into that kind of key. The only one that can be considered an actual chord is the D,E,G,Bb thingy... Try it on a piano and see for yourself. This is also the reason why my bass note changes from C to D near the end - it feels just as comfortable in C as in D, and this isn't a normal thing. Anyway, I'll add the piano thingy and let you hear the result and if you don't like it I'll scrap it and try something else. It's the best I can come up with right now, though. Give it a few days.
  8. Good work, Linearity. No Mario bio will never be perfect, but you did a good job. We can leave it as is until the final "edit" that you mentioned. However - and I've said this before, and it's part of the guidelines as well - we need some "related links" or links to fansites with every bio, if you can find them. Maybe 5 or so, tops. Also, yeah, I feel old too. There's an N64 generation out there who honestly believe Zelda 5 (OoT) is the first Zelda game. Many also seem to think Super Mario 64 was Mario's first, and that Mario Kart 64 was Donkey Kong's... etc. The truth is out there... But most people don't give a damn.
  9. We are all equally responsible for making all of this take so long. Except for the ones of us that are already finished Speaking of which - I'm still having problems coming up with a good way to end my remix, but I have an idea. On new year's eve, I moodily plunked on the piano and improvised a pretty nice piano piece that I think would blend in nicely with a slightly edited version of my current remix. If I was to allow a transition from where my current remix ends into something slightly different to make room for my piano song and allow it to establish itself for maybe half a minute or a little more, making a suitable ending would be a lot easier. I can assure you the mood of the song won't change much, but it would let it become a lot more melodic. I just wanted to ask you if you think introducing original material isn't appropriate - but given how close my mix has been to the source so far, I think it has plenty of room to spare for such things, but if it is in contrary to the aims of this project, I shall have to think of something else. Which means more time until I'll finish (not that it would matter much, considering how little progress many of the other remixers seems to have made so far).
  10. Yeah. That one needs work not to end up being either too long or full of non-important facts. :-/ Try not to clutter it with too much info. He hardly needs an introduction to most people anyway.
  11. Thank you very much, Linearity. Also, my new sig is as awful as the last one, which I might revert to once all characters have been identified. It's more a desperate call for help than a sample of my artistic excellence. I'm not gonna sit down and play nfsu (or whatever game the car is from) again just to find out what car this is - there has to be some nfsu fanboy out there who knows instantly by just looking at the picture...
  12. I still thought it was kinda lame to say "oh, yeah, I took part in making this remix, but I had no say when it came to that bagpipe". Didn't he listen to the final version before it was submitted? Oh well, I just thought it was a shame on an otherwise incredibly well made remix.
  13. Ok guys, Kal aMari has identified nearly every single one of the mascots for us. I'm adding a link to the list on the first post (not posting the entire list, the post is too long already.) I've also edited the first post to be easier to navigate.
  14. hmm... these bagpipes are not my fault, I would have had better ones, so don't blame me here (as seen later in this thread) So you put the blame for that on your co-remixer? Lol? Are you going to stand this idly by without a single comment, Geoff? Damn right. Wonder if the judges (or DJP, for that matter) would have been alright with a bagpipe being played the way they normally are though. Hm. Also, um, bagpipe players are few and far in between in most parts of the world... and unmotivated prejudice tells me most of them have not seen or heard of this site. Do you hear it looping, too? Most media players (including portable ones) have a loop function built-in. Of course, hearing the intro and ending of any song can get tiresome after a few loops. I also get tired of looping samples, as you can tell from above.
  15. Identify the ones you can, if you want, and post your list here. Identifying them all isn't really a hurry until we've written bios on the ones we already know. Who's Mog? Is that the one in my sig?
  16. I have no problems getting the music to pop up in my head - it's getting around to writing it down that's my issue. I lack the inspiration to actively do anything at all. And typing on this keyboard is hardly an active... activity. It's just flushing my thoughts out into my hands. Unfortunately, I'm not as proficient with the musical keyboard as with the ordinary one. I usually have get tons of music in my head when I'm depressed, as in, having had a fight with my gf or the likes. Doesn't happen when I'm bored. The inspiration comes from being blue. I once read the definition of poo to be "the solid byproduct of digestion". When I get around to writing down all those songs that are trapped in my head, I'll call the album "the solid byproduct of depression". Because that's what they are. I can look back at songs I made when I was 12. They are, often, of a rather high professional level, but what's more important, they are full of life and fun. I envy myself for being able to create such inspired and lively songs, something I am no longer able to. Everything I make now is sad and dark. Some of the songs that pop up in my mind have such great hit potential that I question their origins; did I really make this myself? But they always carry traces of the depression from where they come. Not saying this is a bad thing, but it's strange. Happiness never gives me that kind of inspiration. Also, trying to make music by forcing it out is one of the worst things I've ever had to do. I was dumb enough to sign up for a class in high school where I was to compose a few songs over a full year, making small progress all the time. I finished it the night before deadline, and failed the class. I just couldn't do it earlier than that. The inspiration came out of the stress to make something. I suppose sometimes, you have to force yourself into creating something. But music being what it is, I think I can indulge myself with calling myself an artist, and one whose creation can not be forced. If it is, it is no longer art, but something else. Something less. Another problem is that the inspiration, when it comes, never stays for long. I guess this means I'm a happy person in general, but I think I'm meant to be unhappy and depressed. I feel more like myself that way. And I make better music that way. Anyway, you gotta catch those few times when the inspiration comes. Don't force it, but exploit it.
  17. I just wanted to pop in here and say Congratulations. This thing has been in the WiP forums for longer than I have, and I'm glad it finally made it. Not that I'm a great fan of it, but because I like to see hard work and persistency pay off.
  18. Well... considering how far most of the remixers are from a finished version, I think you're gonna have to wait for a while longer. I'm almost done, starky. Unless you find something you don't like about my next sub. It's the ending taking all this time... I've tried a bunch of ways to do it, but it keeps coming down to that fade out. I don't know how else to finish it. I've also been having problems with mastering the song, making the instruments less smudged into each other and so on. But it's coming.
  19. On the contrary. Changing my sig url in my profile is no biggie - finding someone to write bios on the mascots I put there, on the other hand, is. Thanks, Linearity - and to you, Kal aMari. That said, however, don't feel like I want you to prioritize writing bios on the characters that are in my sig instead of writing bios on whatever character you want. They will all need to be written eventually. I'm just trying to lure more people into this realm of mine. And of course, I wouldn't put a character that's already been covered in my sig. Someone might get the wrong idea and write a new bio on a character that's already been covered, which would be a waste of time. When we have maybe 60% of the characters done, I'll put pictures of the uncovered characters into the first post so people can quickly tell which characters have no yet been covered. I'm too lazy to do that now though. I'm gonna write a lara croft bio soon, I think. I think there's a link to all of the mascot names somewhere on the first few pages... but it might be dead now. EDIT: The link is dead. :-/ Maybe I should change my horrible looking sig image into "We don't know who this is. Do you?" Or something.
  20. And now I'm bumping before it falls off the end of the world.
