  1. I'm making a mix CD of OC ReMixes for my Mom to introduce her to OCR. Along with Diggi Dis, McVaffe, and Joshua Morse, Nostalvania keeps coming up on the list of remixers on the CD. Such a groovy mix! This must've been really fun to make. I LOVE the quiet snare and hi-hat at 2:45 buliding to the ride bell later. And that BASS starting at 3:12 is SICK! Has me like
  2. This came on in the car as I was doing through OCR 1 through 3000, and I hadn't heard it before or known what it was, I just like to go into a ReMix blind. The first 35 seconds are so pleasing, atmospheric and cold. It sounded like it was going to be a remix of some game I'd never heard of that took place in an ancient Chinese snow mountain or something (who's to say it doesn't?) Then at 0:36 when the main lick of Ice Cap came on I was blown away BOOM instant nostalgia. I wasn't expecting it because the bass line is different even though it's in the same key as the original. There's so much I want to talk about here. The busy but unobtrusive bass line starting at 1:28, the often mentioned synth solo (along with the fact that it doesn't drown out everything else), the unexpected ending/key change that gives this mix a unique identity, and the wind chimes/wind breeze that somehow make me feel cold... Everything is so satisfying in this mix I just want to kick back and enjoy it, but at the same time I always want to listen and see if I can hear every instrument/effect. Big Giant Circles has a way of doing that.
  3. I don't know if it's a case of 'getting better over time' or just 'aged well', but I still play classic Doom and Doom 2 today. The high speed of the action combined with the best bestiary outside of an RPG make in an all time favorite for me. And the CHEAT CODES! Like I could just type in a code and show somebody a level if I wanted...so user friendly and convenient. And that sound of the Arch Vile spawning/noticing you still freaks me out 20 years later.
  4. The mixing on this one is just spot on. Even when the drummer is laying waste to that open hi hat halfway through, it doesn't overpower everything else. My fav part is the drumming going heavy on the toms at 0:38 instead of just relying on the beat from earlier. Didn't actually hear that until the second listen I'm a sucker for any beat 'em up OSTs and remixes that make me wanna beat up some bad guys/creatures and this one definitely gets me pumped! Lots of tasty rhythms and leads tightly packed into 3 minutes. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to their YouTube channel...*scurries away*
  5. Never played a Pilotwings game (for shame!), but this is one the most pleasant, happy sounding remixes on the site for sure. Bright blue skies, wind blowing in your face, maybe getting some boardwalk fries or driving a jet ski, this mix gets me in that carefree, vacation-y mood. Musically, the fast tempo and light, snappy drums keep everything nice and tight. There's also so many cool fills with the piano, guitar and synth, I feel like there's something new to hear every time you listen to it. All in all if you don't enjoy this remix then you're probably like, dead inside or something
  6. Of course it's very possible that there WAS a CT anime already but I am blissfully unaware so
  7. Soooo good! This remix rocks. VERY glad the guitar doesn't overpower the strings. If there was a Chrono Trigger anime back in the 90s, this definitely would've either been the main theme song, or the backing music when Crono and the party are wrecking fools.
  8. I love the Dr. Wily Stage 1 and 2 VGM as much as anybody else here I'm sure, but Stage 3 and 4 theme is the most underrated track on the entire OST, and Mazedude's remix does not disappoint. The original track is basically going up the music scale chromatically which not only gave a sense of finality to Mega Man 2, but also works well with Mazedude's style - which I would describe as 'slightly uncomfortable-enjoyment'...? If that makes any sense... Took me a while to warm up to Chris's style but it just somehow clicked with me recently. His remixes require a bit more oped mindedness than most other remixes on OCR, but that just encourages more listens On a side note, I wonder if Disasterpeace was ever influenced by this remix. Fez's soundtrack has a lot of similar elements with the chiptune/crunchiness.
  9. (copy-pasted from my YouTube comment ) Such a great mix. Great beat throughout, with a distorted vibe makes you feel like you're lost in an endless foggy forest. Then from 4:00 when it picks up, you feel desperate to get out of this weird dream you've found yourself in.
  10. One of my fav remixes on the site. Such a happy tone with lots of well balanced and blended synth backing and leads. 2:15-2:40 gives me that feeling you get in a Mega Man game of climbing the final tall ladder of a stage, getting past any tough enemies, and reaching the boss room in triumph. So darn good
  11. Sounds like FoxyPanda had a lot of fun making this mix. Aquatic Ambiance is one of the classics SNES tunes and it's really cool to see it done in a genre other than techno/trance and rock. Lots of variation with the leads and drum fills. Nice work.
  12. The glitch sound is a little too harsh and jarring for my taste personally, but the hip hop beats kept it going for me. The last minute or so resonated with me the most, with the chill ride cymbal and rimshot and slowdown of the tempo making more sense in the context of the main bassline and choir.
  13. Is it OK to be scared of a remix? 'Evil' really sums this up perfectly! You can visualize so much hellish stuff if you listen to this with your eyes closed. Torture chambers, bloody spikes and sharp things, fire, cliffs, all that good (maybe not so good?) stuff. Mazedude has taken the original track and evolved it into a giant scary monster of a mix. Excellent stuff. Also just the right amount of poor souls screaming in the background
