I'm open to collaborating on a boss track if anyone is interested.
Boss B from Star Fox 64 might make for a fun trance remix track.

So for anybody reading along, we've got a trio of new directors for the Secret of Mana album project: yours truly, HankTheSpankTankJankerson and TheNikanoru. We're already discussing how we'll run the album, orienting ourselves and setting some things in motion behind the scenes. Somewhere in the next few days, we'll probably create a new topic with all the good stuff and get things moving again. See you on the other side

Don't know if this counts as an actual game remix, but you never know if the background to the newest Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Trailer is going to be part of the OST... anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this piano cover I made of it

Just once, interesting choices for the new instruments, sounds a little like Alone from the Saga Frontier OST.
I'll give it a proper listen tonight.

Of course you can join! @TheChargingRhino has given you a pretty good run-down of what we're up to - and yes, you can certainly claim Space Armada.
The tracklist is on the first page of the thread, but to save you a click, we have six tracks left open:
Title Theme or Great Fox Theme Sargasso Space Zone (or a Boss Theme) Fichina The Awesome Black Hole (with Map Select, hopefully) Space Armada Out of this Dimension Check out the Project Overview if you want to hear source tracks or see where we're at. In the meantime, I'll put you down for Space Armada; let me know if you decide to go with something else.
    Welcome aboard!
It's like PaRappa the Rapper says - you just gotta believe!
Thanks for rolling out the welcome mat again, Rhino.
This will take some work, as I'll have to copy everything over from the Box, update all the new links on the WIP page, then work out of two accounts every time I have an update.
I can do that, but it may take me a couple of days to get to. I will advise when I've got it done. PM me if there's anything specific you'd like to listen to in the meantime and I'll see what can be done.

@CrimsonCobalt and @Etzaen has given the OK for their WIPs to be posted! Check them out and let us know what you think!

    You were right, Nika!
Can't speak for Nika, but I'll welcome you just the same.
Nika and I had a small discussion about Space Armada around two days ago.
I'll be doing a bonus track of it.
    No, you won't have competition.
Because if your claim is verified, you'll be doing the track for Disc Two.
I'll be doing the track for the Bonus Disc.
    Again, welcome.
We are also working on a HUGE Andross collab at the moment.
Yes, this means EVERYONE on the project.
    Including you, if you wish.

Is it too late for me to join. I have an eccentric style and am very passionate about music. I was curious which tracks are left and if any of them would be recommended. I was thinking "Space Armada" myself but I'm open to requests.

The way I was taught improvisation on the guitar was to first find the key the song is in. Then, practice practice practice the scale of that key until you memorize the notes. After that, jam, noodle around, and experiment with the scale until you find a rhythm or progression you like and sounds good with the melody/harmony/bass/whatever accompaniment you have. Sleep on it, listen again, adjust as needed.
Be aware that some songs change key mid-track or even mid-measure sometimes.  Your scale will change with any key changes.

Okay, I have built a spreadsheet like the overview where all the Remixers can listen to the current tracks. If you would like access, please PM me your email so I can share the spreadsheet with you. Reviews can be posted here - as you are all doing already.
Also, please let me know if you are comfortable having your tracks posted to this spreadsheet and I will post them.
EDIT: Oh, and I post the most current WIP to the spreadsheet - for example, @TheChargingRhino's synth-wave version of Clipped Wings is the one I posted, as that's the latest version she gave me.

Yay! A fellow comrade from France
Very interesting take on 'Corneria.' Perhaps a bit too repetitive -- new lead compos, a bridge and a more intense final part could fix that -- but I guess that's a problem I have with most covers out there. Nevertheless, it's pretty inspiring!
If you're into Star Fox music, maybe you'd like to take a look at the Lylat System CLEAR: A Star Fox 20th Anniversary Tribute Album project we are currently working on -- we're still looking for remixers and performers are very welcome

The Nikanoru reacted to Julien Mulard in Trying to find a similar sounding synth lead
    Hi!
If by strings you meant the stab synth (which sound more like brass than strings IMHO), I think you have a good start by using a saw (not detuned) with an almost open filter, and maybe a really short enveloppe on the cutoff of a lowpass filter  (fast attack, from everything cut to almost nothing cut).
For the bells, try a square in high pitch with a "percussive" volume enveloppe (i.e. instant attack, long decay and release, no sustain). Add delay and/or reverb and play with the filters to adjust your sound (keep in mind you want a brillant sound so try not to touch the highs). You may or may not want to add a saw or a triangle in the mix to add some spectral information (but mixed lower).
You seem to struggle with sound design, which is a difficult and critical part of music creation (making the perfect sound from scratch, or just copying an existing sound). If you want to learn more about synth sound design, may I suggest you try Syntorial? The software itself is rather costly (around $130), but the free demo (including a lot of lessons) may give you some basic understanding of the key parts of a classic substractive synth (oscillators, filters, enveloppes, etc..). I found this software to be really interesting. I did not buy it though, so I don't know exactly how much you can learn if you do spend some money for it.
I hope I could be of some help! And sorry for the bad english, it's not my mother tongue.
    Edit: Typo

To be specific, you have two claims of your own currently (Meteor and Ending/Boss Roll), you're in two collaborations (Corneria and Records 1), and have one bonus track (Corneria).
The claim is yours, go ahead with the bonus track. Once you send me a WIP, I'll update the overview and thread.

    Thank you for the WIP!
Good name, I'll keep it in mind. I was thinking something like 'the Many Faces of Andross,' but I'm certainly still open to suggestions.
'The Flash' @Starphoenix has now submitted his SECOND compete (not finished) WIP, 'Cyber Warfare.' Great use of a four-day weekend, IMO...
    --------
Things are moving along! I now have 16 WIPs out of the 26 claimed tracks, 4 of which have complete (not finished) frameworks in place. There is some awfully good sound I am hearing from our Remixers so far - thanks to everyone who has given me something in the last little while!
I was not expecting to make so much progress on this album so fast; however, since we are, I have decided to set some goals for the project as a whole to keep everyone (including myself) on track to meeting for our July 2018 deadline. So, here they are:
12 tracks for each disc - MISSION CLEAR 32 claims (16 tracks for each disc) - Goal: March 2017 (6 CLAIMS LEFT) I have adjusted the tracklist to reflect which claims I would like to see on the album, but character themes and boss themes are still available as well. 32 tracks is the goal, not the end: we may look at expanding our selection if we see enough demand. 16 complete (not necessarily finished) WIPs - Goal: March 2017 (NEED 12 MORE) I would like to have 16 complete WIPs by the end of March, as I will be submitting the project for OCR-approval in this quarter. I may not need all 16 WIPs for submission, but 16 by the end of March is the goal. I will also commit to making sure that everyone who has submitted WIPs will have feedback from @DS394, @DaMonz, and myself before the end of December. We're all a tad busy with life lately, but we're doing our best to keep up. You can always PM me if you have any questions or concerns.
At some point in the near future (hopefully sometime in December), I will be putting together some sort of space where all the staff and Remixers on the project can hear some of the WIPs, so everyone can get a clearer idea of the sound that we have for the album so far; however, before I post anything I will ask each Remixer for permission (if you'd like to opt out, this is no problem). I will also be looking into setting us up a spot on the OC ReMix Discord Server so we have the option of a private chat for collaborations or just discussion of the album itself - those of you who are interested, let me know.
I'll post the goals to the top of the thread later today. Great work so far, everyone. Once again, claims are still open - let us know if you want in!

@TheChargingRhino I am in fact in a band.  We drastically rearrange all of our tracks to include as much originality as we can get away with while staying within throwing distance of the source material.  My rework of Meteo as posted above is an example of such.  @LongBoxofChocolate is the founder of our trio, and we are about to come out with our first album on the Overclocked Records label.
Does that clear up what I was trying to say earlier?  @The Nikanoru is right in that most of the time (if its intended) arrangements will sound better if they are recorded by acoustic instruments, but if you are working with some ass-whooping sample libraries in a good DAW then you are probably set.  In other words, I am not going to write everything in general midi and ship it that way.  I am going to import the thing into Pro Tools then set the pads and record everything possible on top of that. That is only Lonboxofchocolate's process, though.  It does not work for everyone.
