  1. Welcome to the Voting Stage! There are 6 entries this round. There is 1 Bonus entry(s) this round There IS a voter bonus this round! Souperion and HarlemHeat360 both have a vote worth 2x. When Voting, if possible, avoid granting 1:1 covers top spot. MnP requires a bit of remixage after all. Don't vote for Bonus entries please. Do let me know if you have problems voting, and we can sort something out. Try and not make any comments about each entrant until after voting has concluded. Thanks! Participants may not vote for themselves. The winner of this round will submit a source for MnP Round 132. Vote ends 27th March 1PM. Vote here: https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/MnP131
  2. Got my submission in! I was grooving all the way through this lol.
  3. Daam i love this tune! Jeroen Tel is an amazing composer. I'll see what i can do with this bad boi
  4. Sonic 3 was my childhood. Both the game and the music. Maybe speeding up metroid to fit sonic might be a cool idea.
  5. Compo: MnP (Meat 'n Potatoes) Congratulations to Souperion for winning MnP129 and HarlemHeat360 for winning the MnP130 Free Round special! As a result of the special, which involved doing whatever the hell you like, Souperion moved his source pick to this round, which also contains HarlemHeat's pick, since he/she won the special. As a result, they both chose their own source for this month's MnP source! Here's Souperion said about his pick: "Sector 4 Underwater Area from Metroid Fusion. A hauntingly lovely piece which gave me pause the first time I encountered it in game. It's slow, flowing, and delicately simple. Might work out well for a double dose round, too." - Souperion GAME: Metroid Fusion (GBA) SOURCE: Underwater Area VIDEO: And here's what HarlemHeat360 had to say about his/her's pick: "So recently I took a solo MnP (so to say lol) run at Chrome Gadget here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eacpzYZqmvc If you know anything about my mixes, I really love vocals and I'll add them in anything if I see the opportunity LOL. Unfortunately there was just so much here that I wanted to feel here and I couldn't fit vocals in where I wanted to! So I said forget it, I'll just make the melody more prominent instead. Maybe I went too far lol. I wanna see what you guys do with it instead! Go ahead and feel the chrome of the gadget!" - HarlemHeat360 GAME: Sonic 3 & Knuckles (Sega Genesis) SOURCE: Chrome Gadget VIDEO: Deadline: 18th March @ 1PM Closing Date: 20th March @ 1PM Vote Ends: 27th March @ 1PM MnP ARCHIVE - made by Trism submit: https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/MnP131 MISSION STATEMENT The goal of Compo:MnP is to promote that "meat and potatoes" conservative approach to remixing: this includes the mood and composition of source tunes. It is up to the remixer to create their own personalization, or to simply give it a sound upgrade. Moreover, the compo is a great opportunity to hone your remixing skills and give video game music the respect that is due. SOME reinterpretation is recommended, but not required. MnP Instructions/Guidelines Rules for Picking a Source: All video game sources are limited to the 6th generation of video game consoles and earlier. This was due to community consensus, where people preferred to remix more retro games, than newer games. 6th generation includes: GameCube, Xbox, PS2 and Dreamcast. I'm now restricting big name franchises (Such as Zelda and Mega-Man) to one source per year. This is to encourage more obscure games, that not many people will know about to be picked. Make sure you provide me both a video and a MIDI of the source in question. Note: This is subject to change. Also keep an eye out, if any special rounds come into fruition. Guidelines: Modifying the Source is fine, so long as it doesn't sound completely separate from its original intent. If you're gonna do a genre change, at least make sure the original aspect of the source is not lost. Tempo changes are fine, as long as it's not a big change. I'm talking like, going from 80bpm to 140bpm. Submissions must be at a maximum of 20mb (keeping in step with ThaSauce's file size max), and submitted as a MP3 file. Only 1 entry per participant. Previous winner cannot participate but can submit a BONUS entry. Try to avoid making quality-based comments on submissions until after the Round is concluded. It is to avoid a Bias in Votes. MISC/TIPS - When picking a source tune, make sure it has a MIDI to make people's lives easier. - In-game sound FX are permitted, so long as they don't comprise the whole track (i.e. replacing entire MIDI tracks with just sfx)
  6. That's kind of shocking, considering how popular this tune is...
  7. Wow so this round is the first time this track's gotten the remix treatment.
  8. It does make me happy to see you enjoy my OST work. I don't feel like monetizing personally, because it was made in a short amount of time, and it's more of a fun thing for me. But i will keep an eye out for it. Thanks!
  9. No worries, it's all good. Thanks! Yeah, i wasn't bothered if i was going to loose on that round. It was rather, i didn't like seeing one submission, and i did have my entry ready, just long ago before i left. It was either that, or do an extension anyways to account for the missing entry, so why not. This round however, 8 entries is a lot so i don't see the point really. Also much appreciated for your comments about my OST thing. It is really practice material, but i still find that kind of you to say . Your entry was awesome too!
  10. Results In 1st place with 20 points: HarlemHeat360 In 2nd place with 16 points: Souperion In 3rd place with 13 points: APZX In 4th place with 11 points: Wassup Thunder In 5th place with 7 points: brink-of-time In 6th place with 5 points: HoboKa In 7th place with 4 points: Bundeslang And the last place hero with 3 points: NickC TheVideoGamer created a semi-bonus entry, to account for uploading problems. HarlemHeat360 please PM me with your source pick for Round 131. Ideally for next week (Roughly the 21st of February) You will be joining Souperion in a Double Dose round. From there on, it will be mostly normal rounds, until i decide to throw something in the mix Next round will be a Double Dose round. 2 sources for the price of one! Stay tuned for that one! Congrats to everyone who participated, you peeps did great! Comments: Note to self: Long entries, can cause upload problems, who knew lol. Man that is a lot of entries. I don't think i've seen 8 yet, but nonetheless awesome turnout. See you next week!
  11. Nah man, you probably just got a little too eager Nobody will die, nobody will be sent to the gulag. It's unadvised yes, for site problems/late entries, but it's not illegal, nobody is going to be punished. Also when i announce the voting, it helps me keep track who's voted, so i don't miss any during the results. Again think of it as "unadvised" than illegal or wrong. Again nobody did anything wrong, it's a simple misunderstanding/mistake. I was thinking a bit about doing a slip in, so i can finally get it in, however i've already done one before (Last round, because we only had 1 entry and a bonus, and i had my entry waiting a while ago, however due to a few host of issues, i submitted it later than before. It was good, because we could proceed to voting, making it more of a round as such). Also as well, i felt this one, i was being a bit unethical in the host of 8 entries, and also, i might just get the same results as last time (In regards to uploading) and waste a lot of time. To be fair, larger entries of about 20-30 minutes seems to take a lot longer to upload, than a normal 5 minute entry, so i would understand why i have problems. Some of my larger files don't go in straight away. Anyways, it's fine, people can listen to it here, and talk about it here. No point in an extension, if we already have 8 entries, it kind of defeats the object. Thanks guys anyways! Much appreciated on your comments in regards to my OST, i can hear parts of this in Metal Gear, you're right. The "2nd half" was done in a short period time, in around 1-2 days. Not just because my concern was getting it in, but because i had run out of fuel for more Dark Ambient, and i needed some contrast. Also since it's boss themes, i felt they needed a fair bit on intensity. It's what i settled on at the time. I won't work on more of this, what's uploaded, is good enough for me. This is more practice for my skills, than something professional, or high quality. Thanks for all the kind comments anyways! Hope you all enjoyed the long listen.
  12. There's nothing wrong with voting early. I usually say it's unadvised both incase of late entries, and site problems, plus as well, it's easier for me to know who's voted. You won't be in trouble if you vote early, there's no punishment if you do. And this is important to say, because i'm not trying to dictate anything. It's more so it helps all of us. Nobody should apologize, nobody is in the wrong. Everything is fine. It's all good
