@HoboKa Well, it's sure be fun for me at least. I've enjoyed hanging around these compos (MnP and PRC) the past few months than I ever did lurking about in the remix workshop, giving out 2-bit advice. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy letting folks know I like their stuff, but always felt impersonal, distant. The little community here, I feel like I have a place. As that guy who doesn't seem to know how to compose without at least 3 tracks of stringed instruments XD. Hang in there, boss. At the end of the day, we're all folks staring at our computers, making music and sharing it with folks who could be robots for all we know (my serial number is #64813490, in case you're wondering.) Take a breather, do something nice for yourself.

    Big Update!!
I am going to be taking a break from MnP and am working to delegate all responsibilities to @TheVideoGamer and to a lesser extend @Bundeslang.  I will be on standby for emergencies.
[Wtf was I on??] Though I aim to spend less time at OCR, as I love the community, but I don't like how high the Quality Bar is and feel that the Judge Panel could step it down a notch for the less skilled hobbyists.  Also this blinding white light of the forum Theme is really bad for my eyes.  Being near-sighted (yeah, I use glasses...but I might be at risk for Glaucoma) and with constant Allergy problems, it's just not good for me lol.   [Clearly, I was conflating the issue here.  Some of it is true, but...I was dancing around the crux of the matter.  Most likely, it is background noise to other issues I am dealing with.  Double apology there.]
[More Apropos] I have come to realize that I am poor at handling stressful situations and I lost my cool, to say the least, with one of our participants.  I don't want this to be a pattern and I need to get back on counseling and healthier self-care routines.  It sucks, but it is what it is.  Said individual told me they've forgiven me.  However, I still don't feel good about it.
I have thoroughly enjoyed hosting MnP and being a huge part of the Compo Community.  Wish the best to you guys

    Hey there.
TYSM for the congrats guys, but TBH, it's all of you who should get the biggest congrats. Those were some damned good songs, and I really did have a terrible time picking and choosing amongst the lot. No one song, to me, was "bad", even if a WIP / old project. So congrats all around.
@Dextastic TY for the deeper bit of criticism on Catamitus. I'll take it into account with the rest and possibly do a remaster or fidget with it before publishing it fully.
@HoboKa It's no problem at all. Was my sincerest pleasure to try to give everyone in-depth critique! Hope they're at least useful...
I noticed some questions came up about my work, two of which I'll try to address here:
None of the songs, even Halcyon Hare Stage were done using anything but BandLab and whatever SFX, EQ, VSTs, loops and samples are available on there. XD There were no live recordings or using other devices to meld sounds together--hope that doesn't burst anyone's bubble. D: But my deepest TYs for thinking the songs were good enough to sound live recorded! Still think I need better kit to make the sounds less issue-riddled where they do (like some of the clipping or out-of-syncness some of you pointed out,) but perhaps when I get some money I'll move onto a 'real' DAW like FL Studio, see where that takes me. They were all different songs. The one that one was MMX6's Rainy Turtloid (Inami Temple) Stage. Halcyon Hare was an original song I made, just to have the sound aesthetic like a Mega Man X game, and Catamitus was the remix of the Castlevania song 'Aquarius'. Hope that cleared up any confusion. Again, thanks so much for the critiques and the thumbs up. The positive vibes made me blush and the constructive criticisms were super good and thought-provoking. I'll try to take them onboard in future projects.
And I'll try to pick something real good for the next PRC! :3

Got something submitted! It's not exactly a joke entry, but I certainly thought of TheVideoGamer when I made it. My first memory of his work was his entry in MnP 117... Let's just say that my remix sails in the morning.

    The People's Remix Competition 420
    PRCv18-01

Hello everyone and Welcome to the People's Remix Competition!
A new season, 18 already. Last year ended with a big round, voting stage is open till January 18th 2021.
Back in PRC417 it was Souperion who got the win, TheVideoGamer was close but didn't win it. Wassup Thunder did a bonus mix.

The deadline is Wednesday January 20th 2021 at 10:59 am ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT), check the link http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC420 for the exact time left. Make sure that the song is uploaded to ThaSauce or that there’s a download link posted in this thread.
You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. You are free to create a second ThaSauce account for that if you use ThaSauce, it's needed to be able to upload a second remix if you use ThaSauce. Of course you can also upload it somewhere else and put a download link in this thread.
Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread.
Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score.
The winner of this round may select the source for PRC422. The winner of PRC419 also may pick a source for that round.
The winner of PRC417, Souperion, who picked this source, can only participate by submitting a Bonus Mix. His vote is doubled in the voting stage.
You can find the full rules list at this page as well.

    GOOD LUCK!

Wow! Congratulations TheVodouQueen, well deserved! Also congratulations to all other entries, what an impressive round!
Massive thanks for all the nice feedback! I might add, now, that the voting is over, that this was really a last minute thing. I recorded all tenor trombone & euphonium parts myself 6h before the deadline, because I did a spontaneous covid-safe orchestral recording (so: 1-on-1 sessions for all parts) including video cut the 72 hours before, which completely smashed my Zelda schedule. I nearly forgot about adding the drum takes (also live recorded by a friend of mine) at the end.  As the covid restrictions are getting tighter I'll probably do a re-arrangement and re-record most of it for a video (including the original ATTP footage).
I might also shortly answer to evktalo's feedback about the farty sounds, just to save the honour of my bass trombone colleague: I think, what you find farty is the absolutely incredible contra bass trombone, which I unfortunately had to reduce about 15dB(!) in relation to his other bass trombone takes, because I didn't had any more time to get the upper voices in balance by adding a couple of voices I had in mind at the beginning. It was a real bass trombone slaughter the first time I listened to it after recording.

Nah, wasn't ment that way! I was just a little abashed by the quality of all of your mixdowns!  Still got a lot to learn about recording and mixing.

Thank you for the advice! I'll try!

    It's results time.
It's a bit confusing with the multiple entries, but here are the results:
HoboKa did not one, but two bonus mixes.
AxLR did a good song which deserved more, but it got the last place wooden spoon
Several songs ended with 3 points and eight place, some by voting, some by score: Bundeslang - Nirvana - Sifting, Bundeslang - Quitting At Level 8, Silverpool64, Trism and TheVodouQueen - Halycyon Hare Stage.
TheVodouQueen - Catamitus Exultant Lusibus and Evktalo tie for sixth place with 4 points.
Bundeslang - Snakemania got 5 points and fifth place.
Brainstar got 7 points and fourth place.
TheVideoGamer did a long one, it got 11 points and third place
Wassup Thunder and Souperion were close, their song received 15 points and the second place
And the winner of PRC419 is with TheVodouQueen - The Rain Won't Stop The Beat (Japan Disco-Funk Mix) with 17 points.

Hopefully I didn't make any calculation errors, but since I only needed to add the voting bonus, I'm pretty sure it's correct. TheVodouQueen wins the round and gets the right to select a source for PRC421.
Send the source to me (with a MID/MP3 file, otherwise send a second source with a MID file) by PM, other options are PM me @ ThaSauce or by e-mailing to bambombim@gmail.com (I prefer a PM @Ocremix). Send your sources as fast as you can, but before next Wednesday (27 January 2021), 11:00 AM ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT).
You may select any source from any game, but not a source with an OverClocked remix or a source which has been used in PRC before. An overview of the past PRC's can be found in the following links (I recently updated this site):
    http://sites.google.com/site/bambombim/prc
http://bambombim.googlepages.com/PRCRemixList.doc (also downloadable via the link above).

http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC419 for the votes and comments.

TheVideoGamer, you still may pick a source as well, as winner of PRC418.
