  1. Cant see that angle at all. This is top notch rearrangement. Excellent sound quality. Excellent everything. Makes me happy to see this caliber being submitted to oc now and again. YES Really good job on the string synths. Couldn't imagine you wanting to change anything about this mix. Perhaps more length, thats about it. GJ
  2. little note clashing that I really dont like at 1:00. Nothing particularly wrong with it. Just happens if one doesnt establish a good bass. Not too impressed by this. Its all the same stuff yet again. Either way, no submission violations and good sound quality, so YES It is typical for me to go on the word of others when someone says a remix has enough rearrangement to pass. However, in this case, dan had a complaint and asked me to listen to the original. After listening, I am no longer convinced there is even nearly enough originality here. The synths are harder than the original, but its the same song and not as well done as the original. This coupled with the problems I have with the track anyway changes my vote to a NO. Sorry dude.
  3. Really cool drumbeats. Very cool ideas here. I'm likin this. Yes, really like the percussion. Drumloops or not, they are automated like real percussion, not just drums over an original. My one and only concern is the lo-fi sound quality of the whole thing. I'm quite torn over this piece. Definate skill done here and no submission violations as far as I can tell. Weak ending and needs to be louder. Thats all I can determine. YES Great skills will not be denied by me.
  4. Interesting idea, but not well done. There is significant clipping on the vocals. Vocals are muddy with all the sound effects. Not much of an arrangement. Just rap over the minimalistic original. Very short as well. Go for length and better production. NO
  5. Hmm, low fi strings used poorly over the original with ejay-ish vocal samples? Lets see where it goes... Not very far. Interesting idea, but large violation of the guildlines this use of the original is. NO
  6. Sorry then dude. I can't help you with that.Anyway, please sticks to reviews alone. If you want to talk about other issues upto and including what I dont know, we can do it in PM. This forum is strictly for reviews.
  7. Having trouble accepting the opinions of others again? Well too bad, the others don’t care. Anyone notice the clipping around the 2:14 mark? How about the poor eq and reverb? Reliance on gigasamples will only get one so far, and yet there will still be a point that lack of technical skill will still catch up with them.
  8. The ambience is pretty cool, but the entire 'music' portion is original and has nothing to do with metroid. Not even in style. As for the rest, those are the original sfx from the game as well. Please go for remix or rearangement, but not neither. NO
  9. Its most definately Frog's theme, so stop being a FGT VIG LOL WTF ROF Way too much original material going on nonetheless. Simple and repeating. Go for more. NO
  10. nsf rip, which gives this 2 nos: NO and NO There. That makes 4 nos. Btw, I used to live in israel.
  11. Didn't really like the variation much. Didn't like the chord choices. Seemed to me the original sections did not fit the terra sections well at all. Example: at 1:40, its as if he made some original progression and played terra over it whether it fit or not. He does this alot throughout the song. There is a lot of repeating. Heavy Heavy reliance on sample quality; the gigasamples or whatever they are, they carry the song which wouldn't be much without them. Way too short. Really ends too soon, and considering how much repeated, its kind of a let down. I suppose my standards were held at the Final Fantasy Symphonic Suite on the Reunions cd or whatever it was called. That piece is very similar to this, but damned damned creative and well done. Simply put, I never really see these fake orchistra pieces even comming remotely close to the level of the professional real orchistrations or matching their creativity.
  12. All I can suggest is that this is a remix of MineCart Carnage from DKC1. However, I can only say that I recognize this song as using a few of the same chords from the intro of that song and otherwise this song is completely original. If it is not that song, then it is not from DKC1,2, or 3 as I know those sts by heart. I would then suggest donkeykong 64 or some other dumbass dkc spin off and NOT donkey kong country.
  13. I believe the conclusion on the sepheroth song was that if one removed the vocals, the mix would still be pretty cool, and thus is not too much of a ripoff with them in. I would think the same goes for this one. The vocals make it rock, but were they removed, the mix is still OCR worthy.
  14. My opinion on this is that a remix that borrows too heavily from the original source should be rejected. However, a remix that has a significant deal of originality and is well done may use as much original material as it needs. The reason for this is that it is evident the author had the skills and put forth the effort. In this song, one can note the fully original percussion track, the changed up bass line, and the increase of musical qualities. This is not a direct rip off the original. It uses nothing but the vocal clips and wah wah guitar thing. Everything else is original and great. Secondly (my opinion still), a mix may be graded on other things than musical qualities such as percussion, production skill etc. Even if it lacks in some area (this one does not lack in any area really) one may look at the sweet ass percussive element of this song and say 'That alone puts it above the average'. It is not an uncertainty to me whether this mix should pass. It is clear to me that it should. I'd like to hear some other comments here as it seems only through debate can we solve this.
  15. There are added melodic reenterpretations here. The bass is better than a recent passed puzzlebubble mix, btw. Most importantly, there is some great percussion production. I can tell a great deal of the percussion is original. The originality is excellent and the general production values are way better than the two originals. I rejected the metal gear song not because of its similarities, but because I did not feel the production and arrangement were any good. This is not the case with this song. My vote stays YES
  16. Wow. WOW. Great production values here. Great percussion. Sweet. YES
  17. Pretty much the same as the original goes as far as chords, notation, percussion goes. Yea, the original is great, but this will have to pass as a remix and not just a recap on the great original. NO
  18. Very large mastering problems in regards to volume levels and mixing of the guitar. I hear the chord guitar way loud over everything else. I do not hear the drums. Barely hear the lead. Work on mastering. NO
  19. Interesting intro though sorta clunky and lo-fi. Even up to 2:00 this song seems closed as if it has yet to open up into a real song. Lofi and muffled. That extra 33khz above the 11khz range is there for a reason, use it So far, this song is basically just relying on the 'coolness' of delayed cut-freq synths. Song still isn't going anywhere half way through. Just repeating the same sequences again and again. Minor variation mostly relying on repeating synth progressions. Kinda expect more from sirnuts at this point. Borderline NO. Still is cool, but way too simple and closed to grab my acclaim.
  20. More zeal! This song gets really floody with the mass delay around 1:00 - 2:30. Really kills the song. Ease off on that delay. There are change ups in this song that are quite interesting, but more or less, this is the original with something like 5 repeats and mass delay. 3:40 could be very cool, but again the excessive delay kills everything. Lots of clashing notes. Clipping towards the end. Watch that volume. Good ideas, but too many messy effects and overlaping themes. Work out the mess. NO
  21. I'm pretty borderline here. Its the soundquality thats killing this song. Repetition is borderline excessive especialy towards the end. It has variation where it counts, but the synthage is poor. Needs better synth programming (or presets) and better attention to arrangement detail. Could use some mastering to bring up the bass. NO Work on the soundquality.
  22. how to play vgz? Pretty flowing. I like the synth arrangement. Far more could have been done with this mix. Nothing wrong per se, but not as filling as it should be. Borderline YES
  23. Lots of cool variation and skill here. However, the synths are so ugly and annoying that the experience is ruined. The original sounds way better than this remix, unfortunately. More care is needed in the soundquality factor here. Very nice variation. Its spot on. Just fix the synths. Namely the aweful bass and the reverb chime-square in the back. NO
