  1. I just have to add: I know a lot of the songs on OCR, too many to very often say with certainty that a particular song is one of my favorites. I just listened to this song, and I can say, it's one of my favorites. Of course, I'm also a bit biased towards arrangements with vocals, but still.
  2. No custom avatars - but sigs pretty much take their place, given you can put close to anything you want in your sig. Close to anything, note . Also, hello. Oh, and as a warning, you shouldn't use the boo avatar - it seems to be highly correlated to people being stupid .
  3. Not to pick on you, but you're wrong . Anyway, you seem to have a clear grasp of punctuation, which is nice, and you seem to have the ability to write coherently, which is even better... now just use appropriate capitalization and you'll be perfect . Actually, I'd just settle for capitalizing 'I's. Well, I didn't realize the date, just that it wasn't apparent to me when I FIRST posted my 'n00bishnessiveism' topic. For that miscalculation, I apologize. Yeah, I meant for my punctuation to be on, but I seem to have turned my capitalization off. Yeah, so as before, when I asked you to follow my progress, I hope it has improved to your satisfaction. Oh, as to my spelling earlier, I opted to click 'Submit' instead of 'Preview' prior to my post, to try and head off my boredom before it caught up with me. I try and think ahead, but my mind does trip from time to time. I see it quite well. Now continue to post with that level of knowledge of written communication, and before you know it you won't be a n00b or a newbie . Another thing you should note, for situations exactly like the one you just mentioned: there's an edit button and a delete button on all your posts. The delete button can only be used on posts that don't have any other posts after them; the edit button can be used at any time, though it's usually polite to note at the bottom what you've edited.

  5. Nice title! I'm really not a grammar nazi - as long as what you've written is as easy to read as "proper" grammar, I'm fine with it. But punctuation was invented for a reason, and that captured it right there.
  6. Hello Flip, you seem like an intelligent person - we need more of those around . It should also be mentioned that your sig is freaking distracting. As for this Deathatheaven person, please learn how to use, write and correctly punctuate English sentences and then come back.
  7. That it is... though it didn't stop people from banging on Brilliance Redux . Anyway...
  8. KitchenLand. The hidden 9th world in Mario 3. Anyway, hello, and hello to wes too.
  9. I disagree - I would say, your first thread can be about anything at all - just don't present it like myonlyomen did. If he had presented it well, it would've gone fine for him; on the other hand, if he'd displayed that same level of stupidity in just about any other thread, he would have been laughed at just as much . So the moral of this is, don't make a thread espousing large amounts of stupidity while trying to defend your intelligence.
  10. Actually I don't think too many people did flame her... she mostly just got caught in the firefight after Sailor J posted a similar thread only less intelligent . She did get a few people questioning her gender, but that's bound to happen in a predominantly male, visually anonymous medium like this one... but flames?
  11. Welcome. Welcome. Welcome. Ah, so, YOU must be the "welcoming committee" here, eh? Well it's a pleasure to be here, thank you! The "welcoming committee" is basically whoever actually visits the n00b/tech help forum . And, on that note, ditto'd what xamgis said. Hello all!
  12. Why, what is it? I've never clicked anyone's sig that wasn't specifically related to something I was interested in...
  13. Actually, 0*infinity is an indeterminate: http://mathworld.wolfram.com/Indeterminate.html How can it be an indeterminate? There's no infinity to indetermine with, since anything*0=0. Nice... two of my loves in one sentence, math and linguistics . First of all, I don't think I've ever seen "indetermine" as a verb before, and I'm not even quite sure what would be meant by it. Secondly, any finite number times 0 is 0. Infinity does weird things like that. And yes, Gum, I am fully aware of my dorkness, and I'm glad you approve. Though I'm not sure what's funny about misdefining a constant...

  15. I got around this. I was very happy . I was testing something, I forget what, and in the process of deleting it when I was done I had my thread posted to so I couldn't finish. Of course, if I'd been smart I would've tested it in some forum that never gets visitors, but I wasn't and didn't. Having noted that both titles of "let this thread die" and "please post here!" last forever, I decided to go with something nobody wants to see. My thread asked for people to send me their playstation cd rips. It got a couple n00bs asking whether that was even possible, and then died.
  16. UnMod is short for the UnModerated forum (and GenDisc is of course short for General Discussion). The current gag revolved around a semin00b (one of the actually intelligent ones) talking about how she was a girl while talking about porn, and another, less intelligent n00b said he was too, and started talking about how she liked some kind of stupid pseudo-fetish that's apparently popular to talk about in perman00b culture... then a couple regulars "let loose" that they were actually girls as well. Random in-jokes like that happen periodically - I remember with fondness the day where about 3 dozen threads got started of the form *is <something you are/are doing>*, and the time everyone was accusing each other of being alternate accounts of this one person (who was that, by the way? I'm forgetting) and all the jokes made about the possible nonexistence of Eccles' girlfriend, and... great times.
  17. Hello, I'm neminem, and everything I always say to n00bs in welcome threads already got covered while I was sleeping . But welcome all, and don't be scared of UnMod like I was when I was a n00b here. Then again, I've heard grumblings that it's tamer now than it used to be, but as far as I'm aware, the only difference is you get banned for blatant thread-breaking, and I'm perfectly fine with that. Haha, yeah. That was great. If you say you are a girl in UnMod right now, you will likely not be believed. On the other hand, if you look around at all the threads related to the current running gag and its origins, and make a thread parodying it that also implies you're being serious, and pull it off well... that could give you a big advantage on losing your n00b status . We're big on sarcasm generally. By the way, you should really look into getting this thread stickied.
  18. Wow, this is actually quite good. I don't care if it used standard drumloops, this song isn't about the drums. It just has a nice vibe to it - not quite as good as Rob Dougan, but has a similar style that I like.
  19. Wow, that looked like it took a lot of work. I already pretty much download everything that comes out on vgmix or OCR, but thanks for letting me know of the stuff that hasn't been on either of those... I downloaded a handful of new stuff.
  20. Nice. I'm about halfway through listening, and I was about to complain about how similar it was to the original. The first half, certainly, makes me think that one orchestral arrangement of Halo's title is enough for forever, seeing as how it's not adding much onto the original source, which is already pretty genius. But then the rest of the instrumentation comes in, making this far different from the original. Great take on a great song!
  21. Um, no...? It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special. Whereas the Symphonic Suite part 1 (and parts 2 and 3, to only a slightly lesser extent) were. This one might have made it a couple years ago, but has no chance now. I'd still like to see Jeremy arrange more, of the quality that the Suite was.
  22. This is my favorite mix ever, and probably will remain so for eternity. Just wanted to say that. Also, I wanted to say that apparently Estradasphere has forgotten all about this, as I asked them about it last year at their show and they all got blank looks on their faces. So much for hearing more of them.
  23. So... is there one tomorrow, or was that the last one? I'll be annoyed if it was, because tomorrow will be the first Saturday in months I'll be free.
  24. And I'll be missing it . Shower Quality gig and then the biggest Mudd party of the year.
  25. I completely disagree that this isn't listening music. This is exactly the sort of music I do like listening to. Although I agree that the brass samples are kind of meh, that doesn't stop this from being one of my favorites on the site. Great job.
