  1. Basically, whenever you do something really dumb . Generally, if you read all the stickies and follow their advice, if you don't use aimspeak, nonsarcastic leet, StIcKyCaPs or any of the other annoyances of that sort, and if you don't go around mindlessly insulting people who don't deserve it, there's a pretty good chance you'll never be flamed at all . Unless you talk to the wrong people, of course. But then, the rest of the people in the thread will usually come to your aid.
  2. Yeah... I've been having major problems with ETG.
  3. Yay! I'll be in freaking class! Well, more precisely, I'll be riding down to class when it starts, and will then be in class through it.
  4. Ok. I just need to ask. There's a sound right near the end (within the last 30 seconds) that sounds exactly like a printer. Is it one, or is it just a coincidence? But yeah. Generally, I'm a pretty big fan, for all that I don't usually like ambient music much. It's nothing insanely special, but it's definitely pretty and non-annoying to listen to.
  5. I loved this one, but that one instrument that's hard-panned to the right really did bug me, as I'm listening on headphones. I hope it doesn't ruin too much of your creative vision that I opened it up in Cakewalk and then saved it as mono? I made sure to put in a note to that effect in the id3 tags (so hopefully people will notice the change if they get it off my computer somehow). Other than that, I really couldn't care less about what the disapproving judges said - yes, it's repetitive, but so's the genre from which songs like this come. It works well, I thought.
  6. Huh. To me, the intro doesn't scream "scary" or any such thing. To me, it screams, simply, "crappy midi!" But everything after that is excellent. I just 5'd it on ormgas, despite my dislike of the intro. And yes, the key change was great stuff.
  7. I sing. I can cover pretty much the normal male range (I'm a high baritone who has sung both bass and tenor on many occasions, cause they were needed). Apparently I'm relatively good at it, too, as I've gotten into various regional (and in one case, state) audition-only choral groups over the years. Don't know much at all about processing, though, so I would just record a raw wav file and send it along for mixing and mastering. I think I can at least manage to get my crappy mic to avoid bugging out long enough to record a song if someone asked .
  8. Yeah, I wish we had more music with this feel on OCR - I was just thinking how the Chocobo theme would sound great like this, for instance. I grew up in Santa Cruz, which meant seeing surf videos around town all the time. Didn't care about the surfing too much, but the music was good . And yes, this is also really well put together. Nice to see people who create the music we remix, getting into the spirit of remixing themselves!
  9. In fact, nobody (where by nobody I mean myself, if that wasn't clear) has repeatedly plugged this song as probably the best that OCR has to offer. You must have just not been listening . And yes - this is pretty much the best song on OCR, no joke.
  10. Hehe... I just watched the latest Strong Bad, and I thought of VGF . "Basically, college radio can be summed up in 5 words: Dead air... um... dead air."
  11. Yay! VGF is back... and it made me smile.
  12. As much as it's becoming increasingly redundant, I just have to add my name onto the list of people saying really awesome, best OCremix they've heard in a while, etc. One thing that really strikes me is that, despite the clear schism between orchestral and electronic, I can clearly imagine the entire thing being in a movie score (though probably not one by Danny Elfman, once the electronica comes in). I actually have enough classical/orchestra+electronica mixes to warrant creating a new id3 genre tag for them - and this is among the best of them. I could gripe about the bland ending, but that's about it.
  13. Hello! Yup... way to make yourself sound like a complete moron... they're two separate things . Not that I know any more about them than that they both are tools to make electronic music with...
  14. I just wanted to say, having finally gotten enough time to (barely) listen to the whole thing in one sitting, that you guys are freaking incredible! Not one song on there that didn't fully capture my attention for the whole time it was playing. I have to specifically congratulate Vig for making a remix of one of my favorite songs that's giving one of my favorite musicians a run for his money (being aquatic ambience and bLiNd, respectively), but just about every minute of the work is awesome. *goes to listen to Beneath the Surface again* EDIT: YOU HATED AQUATIC AMBIENCE? WHAT THE FUCK? Seriously. Oh yeah, and while I found the lyrics really amusing (creepy, yes, but in an entirely amusing way), I do have to agree that someone more vocally talented should've been found to sing it.
  15. Another hint: don't be scared of UnMod - most of the scary hentai is in clearly marked threads, anyway .
  16. Yay! A 12 year old who doesn't appear to be stupid, given the lack of leet, aol-speak, etc. and the normal distribution of punctuation! Such a rarity, and a much-liked one .
  17. I don't think I've ever seen Atomic Dog post in UnMod. He certainly isn't a regular there, at any rate. Formidable: no idea, I never have any use for the id3 tags that winamp doesn't support anyway. D-Block: Yes, you can use Quicktime, it'll install a browser plugin. But you shouldn't, because it's a waste of OCR's bandwidth. You are right. Watch out for him in GenDisc. One false move, and he snaps. More the philosophy forum, now that it exists, given that most of the threads he posted to in GenDisc were or became philosophy threads anyway .

  19. Sure we read this stuff, greetings newcomers. Indeed. Rookies are always welcome. Ditto'd. For great justice, and also cause I have nothing else better to do .
  20. What he said. I've been terrible about coming here regularly, I apologize .
  21. *claps loudly for LionTamer's good fortune* Oh yeah, and I just downloaded Nigel's web site by the way . Thanks for the hint.
  22. C_G Redux: No relation to Brilliance Redux? Just checking.
  23. Bad luck? Oh, and you might want to add the " to the end of that quote tag.
