It's the real deal, Binnie did some research on his domain. -

Check the parameter list of SFZ and experiment with linking the modwheel as a controller to some of them. Not sure which one would control vibrato, necessarily, but you should be able to find it with some experimentation. Also, prophet, it's not really cute, funny, or unique to put a at the end of all your posts, it's just annoying. -

Looks like a typo on Binnie's end: there's an additional http:// before the address. The files ARE there, though, at www.zirconstudios.com/KIC/ogg/ -

Crystal is more of a soundfont mangler than a soundfont player, and it takes WAY more CPU than you need for playback. sfz is good (if you have a lot of memory), though fruity SF player is my personal choice so you can do slides. -
oh man, that bukkake explanation.. bahahaha that's the funniest thing I've heard in awhile. You're a master with words, man.

Awesome! thanks! edit: but could you convert that to a format that can be read by tags? bmp didn't seem to work. -

I whipped this up. Comments? Gripes? -------------------- Sion, I'll see what I can do, but it may take a while. Fusing 2 characters and making them look good may prove challenging. hey, pretty cool! two minor things: 1. could you change the font to something even more "digital", possibly? 2. lowercase "z" then it would be perfect :D thanks! -

I could really use a graphical sig, for once. I've been without one since I got here. Perhaps a simple horizontal one; similar to the current SoundTempest logo (http://soundtempest.net/images/st.jpg) in terms of font and the speaker thingies, but with a more interesting and less complex texture. I'm no artist, so I can't suggest anything useful -
OCR01174 - Final Fantasy "AfterLife"

Arthur's Theme, by Christopher Cross: http://www.soundtempest.net/Christopher%20Cross%20-%20Arthur's%20Theme.mp3 You should be able to hear the similarities pretty quick; the opening progression being the most obvious one. Sounds like Uematsu simplified the melody, though, almost de-remixing it The chorus of the song, though, is a different progression, so it wasn't really a complete copy. Remix of a remix! -

Oops, my memory failed me. It's not a classical piece - it's the theme from the movie "Arthur". I think someone mentioned that.. sorry to throw you off -
OCR01174 - Final Fantasy "AfterLife"
zircon replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
The original this is based on wasn't written for a film or game. It was actually ripped from a piece of classical music; I know because I was listening to it, and my dad (who can identify almost any piece of music ever written) came up and said, hey, that's (such and such)! Of course, I don't remember the exact name now, but I can find out a little later today. oh, and excellent mix -
FL has nothing to do with it. It's probably the way you are using them. Almost no soundfont sounds good by itself; you NEED to use effects, especially reverb, to make them usable. It's absolutely essential.

Very true, unfortunately. But you can find some good stuff there nonetheless.

OCR00280 - Art of Fighting 2 "Match with Yuri"
zircon replied to m68030's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This is pretty awful. It's unfortunate OCR continues to host the older mixes filled with FL-defaults and terrible mastering/arrangement. One of the many reasons the modern OCR is better than ever. -
nah, wasn't implying that you used premade loops. I meant the drum patterns themselves were very similar (ie. when the bass drums, snares, and hats struck). The sound of the drums from the two songs were definitely different, of course.
-
This is a pretty cool mix; sort of like a toned down Drop and Roll (which I loved) with more 'real' elements. Great synthwork and drumwork, which I've told tefnek already. Arrangement and mastering are good as well. My only complaint is that the main drumloops used here are virtually identical to the loops used in Drop and Roll, only they have (apparently) less effects. It's not a big deal though since the loops were good to begin with.

FRUITY LOOPS 101 - PLEASE direct -ALL- FL questions here

The Collab that's being rumoured around is a new tool being made by Imageline that allows to connect FruityLoops to other computers, like how Cubase SX can run on multiple computers, increasing the amount of RAM and CPU that you can use by how many computers you are using. Uh.. no, it definitely does not do that. In fact, my projects were probably MORE CPU-intensive under collab. It's basically a chat client that lets you upload and download an FLP file quickly, and the FL program is 'bundled' as a window within the program for easy editing. When you finish a version, you can leave comments on it. Supposedly, sample uploading will come soon. -

Some soundfonts just don't have sounds for some key ranges. There's no real way to 'fix' that unless you manually edit the soundfont.. it will probably sound bad if you do. Also, you can tell if your SF player is a demo if it says "demo" when you add it as a plugin. Your problem is a bit different from the usual SF player demo problem (the channels getting deleted) though.. Well, that is odd. And it doesn't say 'Demo' on the sounfont player. Well, as long as I don't use like 50 different instruments I shouldn't be totally screwed. Still irritating, though. BTW, the Squidfont Orchestral samples really sound good. No wonder it had to be 60mb. And for high pitches, maybe I can play some slower low notes, export it to wav and raise the speed, and slap it on my completed piece later. It sounds ghetto, but that's the only solution I can think of. If you have to do that, you probably should not be using that sample for notes of that pitch. -

I've tried it. It's cool, but a bit useless to me since I have so many samples and VSTs/DXis that few people I know use, so we can't really collab using FLPs alone. ArseAssassin: Collab is basically an FLStudio-endorsed program that makes it easy for people to collaborate on a single FLP. It incorporates chat, FL, and file uploading/downloading to make the job easier. -

ugh.. we really need a sticky just for this question. It's been asked several times already, and answered. I just answered it earlier today, in fact, in the sample thread. sfArk, as you would have found out with a 10 second google search, is a soundfont compression format. You need the sfArk utility to decompress the files. Once you do, you will have usable sf2 files. Really, people, it's not that hard to figure this out on your own.. that's how I did it.
