  1. Isn't that one reason why the staff of this site should be more careful in how they act towards this site's members (even the ones they view as "worthless")? Much of the shit that certain staff have flung in UnMod's direction only shows that they don't have the maturity and self-control that their position should demand of them. If they really think that they're mature and intelligent than we are, then they should REALLY start acting like it instead of saying, "well, you really don't contribute to this site at all seeing as how you're an UnMod abuser, so we don't give a damn what you think. Sorry! ;P"

By the way, I am 17. I should not have to tell a bunch of college-age jerkoffs to act more mature. It should be the other way around.

Just so you know, we've been trying to correct such things, but emotionally wound up people don't exchange the best of words.

  2. Not necessarily. You can start with free (legal) software and inexpensive hardware - so that you learn which kind of equipment you will need. Some here ditch buying software and stick with the freeware like modplug and put the effort into making decent mockups of orchestras. I'm sure there is some people around here who know enough to help you if you want to try that. It all comes down to patience.

  3. Yeah, I go to raves sober all the time. The one I went to was a much smaller venue (capacity: 500) but the production company (Grumpy Old Men Productions) doesn't waste their time sealing up headliners and that bullshit - but rather focuses on the atmosphere of the place by means of decoration and varying the music.

    I liked it.

  4. There was comments, but I'm sure it wasn't the stuff you were looking for.

    First things first:

The snare is an accent snare - that is, it should only be used to accentuate a phrase, not for the upbeat. Try using a softer synthetic drum there instead.

The kick is fine as is, but needs another snare for the upbeat. Also, if you're gonna have that snare, more resonant overdriven snares in the background to support it would help it a lot more.

As for the synth programming, try putting a little more dynamics into them, via filtering and maybe some carefully placed stuttering. Try some trickery on the automation level to see what you can get out of it. If you are not very aware of what you are doing, revisit the tune later once you experiment with the automation of filters and the sort (try making some acid techno - that's probably the best way to learn using filters.)
