  1. SirRus: Sure, that sounds cool. Another Reason user would make things much simpler. If you have a preference between the two, let me know. I can do one with you and one with ellywu2 if that works for everybody. I guess you and ellywu can work out who collabs on which? Once you do I guess that's two more Claado can check off the list.
  2. Whew. Switchin and swappin every which way. Just to reiterate, if anyone desires to take track 7 - "Crisis" or track 20 - "Morning Sunlight" from me, they are welcome. If they want to work together with me on one, even better (repeating myself...). EDIT: Ellywu2, if either of those sound appealling to you, let me know. What software do you use?
  3. BTW, if no one goes for them, I'm still interested in the "Crisis" theme and also the "Morning Sunlight" tracks. And I'd love to collaborate on either or both if someone wants. ^^
  4. I see what Ben is saying to some extent. I agree that cramming a certain amount of creativity into a small time frame can be demanding. However, I also think it's unreasonable to put NO time limitations, as we're trying to create a CD format soundtrack here (which is already slated to be too large for just one disc). I'm more inclined to side with Claado on this issue, as this is how he organized things from the start and we've all had fair warning. It isn't like we have to write in dynamics for every single line each character speaks. Just try to find the changes in emotional tension (or the "beats" if you're into theater at all) and organize around those. Do what you can with what you have.
  5. You may want to PM some of the other remixers in case they forgot or haven't seen the thread in a while and aren't up to speed.
  6. Whoa. Did NOT expect to see my audition picked. Guess I better get to polishing that sucker up... As I said last night, I'd love to take number ?? - "Battle with Magus." Emperor: However, if were really hoping for that one, I'm willing to share/collaborate on it and claim another for myself (such as my second pick, "A Shot of Crisis"). Seems a little unfair for me to unofficially "claim" a song the night before....
  7. Well glad for the votes of confidence. See you guys at the noon showdown. ^^
  8. Um do we just post our desired tracks here or what? Guess I will anyway... I'm interested in developing the heavier percussion sound I've been working on, so I'd love to claim a battle them of some sort (though I'm content with whatever I get assigned). So I guess my top picks are: 1. Battle with Magus 2. A Shot of Crisis 3. Battle 1 But again, I'm willing to take whatever I get. Dunno how we're splitting the tracks between remixers, but I'd gladly work on more than one track, or collaborate with others on some. Looking forward to tomorrow guys. ^^
  9. Dang, that's the longest post I've ever seen that wasn't a tutorial. I'll have to read it in its entirety later. Glad you liked it bro. And I appreciate the compliments. Those are definitely words that any musician would feel honored to hear.
  10. sweet. now ellywu? this project is gonna friggin own.
  11. Everyone who has posted a WIP has done some nice work so far. If we DO end up using whatever samples we want on an individual basis, I'm hunting down some new stuff. I don't really know how Orkester ranks in quality samples, but I've been moving closer to orchestra in my remixing style anyway, so it's a pretty good time to pick me up some really nice material to work with. Claado: Well so long as you aren't setting a Dec. 1st release date, then any amount of remixers we can gather should be enough to handle the job.
  12. So, that's like 7 known remixers who have posted audition pieces/WIPs.... remixers = 7+ predicted track number = 25 *twitch* .... EDIT: BTW SirRus, love the ambience your WIP opens with. Very nice. ^^
  13. While we're on the subject (kinda), can anyone recommend a really good resource of high-quality orchestra samples (doesn't have to be free). I'd like to expand my sample library a bit and I'm interested to hear what you guys use/recommend.
  14. I like a lot of the percussion elements in that clip, bliz. I really like the drum kit Unknown used too. Where did you guys find the samples? And BTW, does anyone have suggestions for cleaning up my audition piece? I figure I've gone to this much trouble, might as well polish it up a bit.
  15. Well I'm certainly not against the group sample kit. I'm sure there is better stuff out there than what I'm using. I'm sure I can do as well or better with other sounds. And I still agree with your original reasoning for using a shared sample bank. As cool as this project CD will probably sound, it'd really add something if all our work sounded like it was performed by one "orchestra." But in the end, I think it's gonna sound sweet no matter how this thing is organized, so it really doesn't matter to me. Can't wait to hear what everyone else turns in.
  16. I be done. Well, mostly done anyway. I ended up overshooting the time limit by about 30 seconds. And there's probably some polishing that I could do on mastering and maybe tweeking a few "muddy" parts. But this is pretty much it. ^^ Inciting Incident Hope you enjoy. (Oh and Claado, I'm pretty sure none of the samples I used are eligible for our "shared" kit. Except for some percussion, all sounds came from Reason's Orkester sound bank)
  17. Yeah, still siding with Darke. On a third reading of your original post, I was able to find only one "simple question:" ... I believe we've answered that question several times in several ways: So hopefully that question has been taken care of. I've not read any replies that were any more slanderous or abusive than your original post. You questioned the motives of the script author without reading the script. You want to know what's behind this "damn project" although you've made it pretty clear how little you think of it. Then we defend ourselves and our intentions, which you interpret as "abuse." Please, someone dispute me if you disagree, but I am yet to find a response in anyone's post that is so abusive as you say. If you do have questions that we haven't yet answered, please ask so we can try to answer and clear up any misunderstanding.
  18. Yeah, Darke got it all right. Claado isn't twisting the collective arm of the OCR community for this. We're participating because we enjoy doing this, because we want to show our appreciation for the remixed game, and because we want to create something that we can share with others (hmm, kinda like with everything else we remix... ). To anyone else who wants to whine about removed characters and scenes, Darke (again) said it best. Things have to change between different media in order to be effective within that media. You may remember the Lord of the Rings films? Our work here is a tribute to the source material, not a plot to destroy all that you hold dear about Chrono Trigger. (and no, nothing new on my WIP since this weekend)
  19. BTW, to anyone who missed it, Claado (the guy who started this whole thing) is out of touch until thursday or friday for some reason I forgot. So don't expect any replies from him til then,
  20. Cool, almost forgot Emperor was getting in on this. Very noice. BTW, I updated my WIP last night. Still a tad sloppy, but I haven't had a lot of time. Inciting Incident
  21. Dangit, I hate "songwriter's block" (term invented by me to make "talent deficit" sound professional). Hey Unknown what were you using in your percussion section? I can't quite pick each instrument out, but it sounds tight. I'm still working on mine. School is keeping me pretty pinned down though. Funny, I always thought to myself that I'd never attempt a remix of the CT opening theme because I'd never know what to do with it. I'll get something banged out eventually.
  22. Man, when it comes to orchestra, I just bang away at the keys til I hear something sound good. room full of monkeys with midi keyboards > sephfire
