  1. Well, I didn't receive your notification because my inbox is full (I gotta clean it out soon >_>) but still, March 31st? That's more than enough time to get a finished mix in. Thanks for the heads up
  2. I don't know - as far as Team Iceland's concerned, DiggiDis took it in a swaver direction than I thought I could invision but I'm still happy to tackle it myself for the team. And Kyle, get your email on standby - the WIP (and by that, hopefully a finished composition!) should be set in stone in the next few hours.
  3. I've beaten Radical Dreamers a few times. But that's beyond the point - the people with these projects know what they're doing and how to approach the albums. We never strive to beat what we think is the personal best remix project out there (and contrary to most I STILL think it's Summoning of Spirits, heh) - what we do is set our goals and allow people to be creative with what we've got. Brad stated his goals on showing a wide history of OCR in spite of having no nostalgic connection with Link's Awakening, and if that's what he's stepped out to do, then that's his agreement.
  4. That's because Sonic 1's soundtrack didn't have many tunes in comparison to other Genesis games to begin with. We're given what we've got to make something awesome out of them. And considering the average length for the usual track by most of the artists that have signed up, that shouldn't be a problem, but it's still our choice on how long we should make our tracks in the end, and how we approach it for that matter.
  5. Lol, Miracle Matter - while one of the toughest bosses in the game - wasn't as hard as apparently made out in the description. That said, it's great to see Kirby 64 get some love out here - not only was one of the best games in the series IMO finally covered, but also one of my fave tracks from it, so I really gotta hand it to Prototype for getting the job done. Yeah, I do admit that the genre selection is pretty obvious as someone else stated, but I still personally can't imagine this taken in any other direction, so I say this is nailed straight on the head here. That's just made the instant jump to my MP3 player
  6. Yeah, I also apologised for slipping aside the WIP deadline completely; my main priority was getting in a first demo ready for the Sonic 1 project (which checked out ok, may I add ). Rest assured, I'd have something finished and good to go by the 26th
  7. http://www.ocremix.org/forums/member.php?u=30559 Apparently, this douchebag had no idea that Project Chaos was already finished. :\
  8. I'd like to give it a go as well. While I was at University, all of my Decembers were spent writing a piano number based on certain Genesis videogames that would fit the theme and/or a wintry feel (Year 1 - Sonic & Knuckles / Year 2 - Ristar / Year 3 - Phantasy Star III). I'm keen to tackle it again, maybe even mix it with a proper Christmas tune as well. Good luck with the project Dyne
  9. Well, if you were hoping to ask for sheet music, then asking Hetcenus himself would be an option; however, he's been missing from here for quite some time. I don't know if I still have the project file for "Beneath the Ashes" though, but if I do, I could have a go on that in his place.
  10. To my knowledge, Patrick Wagstaff covered the former on VGMix v2 ages ago, amongst many other tracks from the game. (Word of note: the volume's pretty loud in that one, so watch your speakers!) I'm with you, some of the original tunes in Land were awesome
  11. Fantasy Zone had some coverage back in PRC57, covering the ending theme. But yeah, it needs more, that's for sure >.>
  12. I see quite a lot of popular requests for the Conservatory of all things. It might be a bit risky for my particular arrangement style, but the theme might be done depending on the theme for the final round for the aforementioned Grand Audition 2009 (which starts next week). I can't wait for the revelation Or if the theme doesn't match, then I'll see about taking part in the PRC again, after so long. Maybe.
  13. Depending on the theme, I might do some Majora's Mask coverage for the final round of RPGamer.com's Grand Audition 2009 (which I won the second round). I've been begging to do so for quite some time In the meantime, there's also , which didn't make it past the judges' panel when subbed in 2004, but was still a chilling take on "Final Hours". Probably one of my more favorite mixes from this game. The Joker covered "Deku Palace" for his entry into the RPGamer.com competiton Sonic Revolution back in 2005, titled "Royal Enquiry". As a judge for the aforementioned contest, I saw it as one of the better submissions, but whether you'd appreciate the track or not would depend more on whether you'd understand Joker's melodical style or not. Also, Deku Palace got covered AGAIN for PRC55. Of course, Joker made ANOTHER remix, though in the end, V took the win back then. At least the turnout was very plentiful
  14. The reason why is because most people around here like to act as if Super Mario RPG is the ONLY Mario RPG to pay attention to. Now, I know that's Yoko Shimomura, but sheesh, the game isn't that good at all But I do agree with you that the Paper Mario series needed more love. The Forever Forest theme got some coverage back in PRC101, though like most contests in the fourth season, it didn't gain a lot of attention, or decent entries for that matter (save for Hylian Lemon's bonus entry). So yes, when it comes to anticipating more Paper Mario coverage, welcome to the club
  15. Yep, it happened to me too if I play any one of my games for longer than I should do. The most notable ones that do that to me though are Elite Beat Agents (where I keep seeing circles closing in on me when I close my eyes) and Guitar Hero (where I keep seeing the highway and the note markers moving inside my head almost consistently and I end up suddenly air-playing just to get rid of it).
  16. bLiNd's jumping in? Sweet And Brad, relax; I'm sure he can do something fine for the project. I know he mainly does a lot of high-energy trance but I know he can manage downtempo stuff well. I mean, "Blue Vision" was the first track I heard from him and I really loved the vibes that I managed to get from that, so I think he might go with a similar approach or something. Directing it more to the man himself, welcome to the project
  17. Has anyone claimed Special Stage yet? If not, then count me in. Sonic projects most likely won't be the same without me
  18. Dude, they didn't mention me either, but considering the size of the project, just appreciate the fact that the word has been spread and (if all goes well) you could end up with more groupies. I passed my congrats to Kyle through Googletalk earlier this week, and so I'll acknowledge it here again - big thanks to Nintendo Power
  19. That Japanese blogger guy updated his Tales project feedback again. But from what I got from online translations he didn't have enough energy to cover the lot so he just looked at "Altar Perception" and "Summoning of Spirits". Altar Perception - According to the online machine translations, he liked Injury's vocal part (rare for him to spot it first hand!), thought the track had similar musical links to the SaGa 3 (Final Fantasy Legend 3) score, liked the fusion of ambience and "techno beats" (?) and liked the general atmosphere (the feeling that no sound disturbs another). Summoning of Spirits - The blooger understood that it was mainly piano-based, especially near the beginning. Thus, he seemed equally as surprised to see "Fighting of the Spirit" being taken in a different "fresh" direction. The rest of his blurb seemed hard to pick out stuff, but he found it to be "floaty" and minimalist somehow (in a good way). Eh... Andy Jayne, I think we need your expertise here.
  20. As awesome compositions as they are, I tend to avoid Metal Slug remixes for one reason - PRC63. And it's a story too long to put here. Hence, why somehow I didn't know about that until now. Doh!
  21. And hooray for Protricity's comeback! ...eh, yeah. I don't think most people would acknowledge me saying that... >.> Either way, I pass my congrats to Katie and the team. If you're in the mood for champagne for tonight, I suggest you go for it
  22. Who's OCR's main Japanese translator again? At this rate, Myth might just read that and wonder what *he* did to deserve commentary like that. XD
  23. Well, I don't know how "sorrow" and "patheticness" would somehow link together in Google's machine translation case, but it is a weight off my shoulders, so thanks for that. I wonder when the blogger would tackle the other 2 discs...!
  24. Actually, "Blue Skies Over Guardia" was in 7/8. You're close enough with the under-explored time signatures, though. Well, if it's not my arrangement that's pathetic (note to self: NEVER visit OCR at 7 in the morning!), then what is? And is there anyone here who could figure out what that "HASAMIKON" thing means while they're there? I'm still surprised I figured out the Chrono Trigger romanisation correctly.
