because he runs around with impunity around here thanks to big bro darkesword (with whom I have no issues). seriously, the phrase "lurk more" was never more appropriate when it comes to him. also, i called for thread lock long ago. SO I WIN! neener
-
You said it over and over even AFTER it had been addressed the the topic moved well beyond it. And you were 100% completely WRONG in your assertion that THAT is why everyone jumped on her. So not only are you whiteknighting, but you're doing it wrong and you're being an idiot about it right now.
-
Yes you are. You're latching onto one single (and particularly irrelevant) part of the debate and thrusting it forward over and over and over and over and over again. And you started doing it after you found out it was a girl. That's called whiteknighting. And you're being completely obvious about it. So knock it off.
-
yeah pretty sure we don't need someone jumping in at the end who wasn't there in the first place
-
okay you know what fuck it i dont care WHOSE brother you are stop fucking white knighting you latched onto one VERY SMALL aspect of the entire argument and ignored EVERY SINGLE OTHER POINT and white knighted your way into absurdity. see you in a month

I ALsO CUT MYSELF WHAT YOU GONNA DO :\
-
you'll get over it

reading this thread, you clearly have been a big proponent of the "creator has less rights over the property" idea and to deny it now is utter bullshit you're still equating music with a variety of things. snake oil, food, cars, etc. and those are all bullshit analogies no one here is disrespecting the consumer. no one is acting like gods gift to anything. shit, the album i'm working on now has already been announced to be free, so my desire to make money off of my own shit is almost nil. that said, no one has any right, not even the consumer, to dictate that the manhours that i put into creating my shit is only worth "x" and for only "x" number of years they have the right to not buy it and that's their only right in disagreeing with me.
-
you want to be able to dictate the price of other people's blood sweat and tears you've said so yourself but unfortunately you've pretty much ignored everyone here who has told you how wrong you are just to hold onto your foolish belief that you know more than the everyone else the question here is not "is your work worth me paying for" it's "does your right as a consumer supercede my right as the creator" short answer: no long answer: noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

i still contend that the thread should've been locked right after my first post because that pretty much summed everything up, despite whether the opposing party admits it or not.
-
But that's not exactly what you argued (it was a part of it). You also argued that YOU had a better idea of what MY time and effort was worth than I myself did. And we both know that's total bullshit. You've yet to present an argument in this thread that hasn't been ripped to shreds, and yet you still post as if they haven't been. Are you related to Bill O'Reilly?
-
That song was my fucking creation. My time. My effort. My life. Do you want to derive enjoyment from MY time and effort? Then you have to pay. Because you have no right to it, only I do. What I create is not "public domain" unless I create it with the intent purpose of it being public domain. I'll give you one thing, at least you're consistent with your bullshit.

After a long-winded debate that practically forced him to admit it. We (and I use that term for musicians in general, not just on this board) see this kind of behavior all of the time. It boils down to simple selfish entitlement
-
I did and that's exactly the message that he is putting forward. That one's work should have a value at what he thinks it is, not what the creator of it does (or the ones that fund an allow the creation of it, the "music industry")
-
i would wager you don't know one goddamn iota what goes into making a song. one person can slave for hours upon hours getting just 30 seconds written whilst another might have a spur of creativity that allows them to do the same in 15 minutes. there is no set amount of work that goes into creating music. but it's easy looking from the outside in and thinking you have everything figured out isn't it tl;dr stfu and gbtw
-
tl;dr: i need to justify getting things for free simply because i enjoy them and my enjoyment should have no dollar value attached to it or enjoyment should have a dollar value of what the consumer believes the work is worth with no actual understanding of what went into the product that made it cost so much in the first place wait second sentence was still tl;dr goddammit

if they have to, don't use any accents. that is preferable to standard hollywood-everyone-foreign-is-british shit -

Really? It's my favorite Zelda game but I find it incredibly easy. I can get to the final palace in one sitting, and playing it enough makes it very easy to remember the simple path through the maze. And then there's shadow link. Ehhh... Great game? Agreed. Difficult? Not at all.
-
2001 is probably the worst example you could have put forward, given that it is an awful movie. maybe something like the usual suspects where you CAN get it all in one sitting if you pay attention, but a second viewing (not required) is also helpful. unlike ff7, where several playthroughs still = wtf

Sorry, I think most literary critics would DISAGREE with you. You cannot write a GOOD story if it cannot be understand in and of itself. I shouldn't need outside material to help me understand what I just watched or played. A well constructed story should stand on its own, with one viewing/playing to fully understand. Anything beyond that is just art for the sake of art (which is not art).
