  1. Gee wilikers, Rob. Are you listening to it through desktop speakers? Cuz if so, you are missing out on a buttload and a half of bass. If you've got a CD walkman and a good pair of headphones, listen to it there. I can hear the music better through there, but inanycase... I liked it. He took 10 seconds worth of what is essentially randomly placed square waves and stretched it to over 4½ minutes. The deep sub-bassline is amazing (I'm aware that "deep sub-bass" is a redundant adjective but I care not, so ) I like the drum loop as well. For a second, I thought I had another stereotypical techno drum loop, but the snare hits in there helps to break it up for me. On a personal level, I've always liked that "theme" (it's so freaky), I've always thought Metroid was outstanding, but above all... I love it when people aren't afraid to remix a seemingly impossible theme. I love it even more when they pull it off successfully. Well done, post it.
  2. Why are we even voting on this? Yes! Of course, yes! It's beautiful and I've always been a sucker for piano (re)arranged melodies. I suppose one day I'll actually play Final Fantasy X.
  3. It's the...it's the Zeal Palace...I hubba, screendladiffack...fksdjoajioejfoja *can't talk...drooling with delight....* Yes, there are a lot of Zeal remixes on the site (5 to be exact), but each one of those is an 8 slicer at the minimum (they may be 9, I'll have to go check again someday). It's amazing because I was just pondering the idea of another Zeal mix being made. Inanycase, post it right away, don't delay, as I'm hoping this will be the sixth. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
  4. Done. If all goes well, hopefully he'll send a version w/o those Schwartzenegger samples in there and it'll be posted. *relocking*
  5. *comes running in a la Sakura* Here I am! Here I am! Sorry I'm late guys. Okies, here we go... *looks at the poll results thus far* Gee willikers, another tie to break *cracks knuckles* No, and here's why... Like orky and Daniel said, it needs more layering. It sounds empty. Besides, .nsf + slapped on drum loop = submissions violation. The drum loop is fine, but adding some more instruments to the mix would definitely be helpful. I'm not saying that the .nsf sample needs to be absent altogether, but it does need something so that it's not 50% of what we're hearing. On a side note, Daniel makes a good point about setting presidence. He's right. If we approve this, then we gotta approve 'em all. I'm gonna go ahead and email the poor basta..., gentleman and let him in on our comments. Well done chaps!
  6. oooooooooooo, I get the tie breaking vote! *cracks knuckles* No. And here's why... The samples. Personally, I have no qualms with voice samples in a mix. Even if they make no sense (i.e. Wizards & Warriors "Mighty Potion"'s "WRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAARRRRRR! Peanut, peanut, peanut, peanut!"). But here they were over used. WAY over used. The mix itself was OC quality. Everyone who voted no did so due to the samples. My advice? Lose the samples, resubmit. It's a shoe-in. Edit: I would have emailed the guy to deliver the bad news, but no email address was given to us, so I guess you've got the honors on this one, Pretz.
  7. < > Well, in that case lets just hold off the voting till Joe can get a completed copy of the song. </ > *locking topic*
  8. Yes! Of course yes. As if there were any question?
  9. Damn damn damn! I couldn't remember what Corel Prison sounded like and my PSX is in VG hell. Who cares? Post it. yupyupyupyupyupyupyupyupyup
  10. Yes. Good Lord, this is where you separate the listener from the judge. Why? For one, I'd never played the game, so I got the .spc from Zophar's. Second, the .spc made me want to jam scissors in my ears. Third, it's hard to take a crappy song and uncrappify it. Does SgtRama pull it off? Well not quite, but he does lower the crap quotient. Offhand, I'd give this one 7 slices. It's plenty layered enough (bassline, beatdrop, melody, submelody, the little sandpaper slide layer thingy, the outer space sfx that opens the song, and the Kirby voice sample.) I can't really think of any objective negativities. Yeah, the ending was quite abrupt, but I think the Kirby yell just before that helped to ease it a bit. At least it did for me, but that's subjective. Post it.
  11. Will this thread never DIE j/k. Inanycase, GMan has emailed me seeking confirmation that I received the WFRR? rom and the status of his mix. I've got a nice little letter set to go, but I didn't want to mail it off without Matt's, Orky's, and Dan's "okay", as their comments are specifically contained therein. I figured to just go ahead and do so would be...rude. So here's what I wrote him: Problems? Just hit me back with a go/no-go (we've all seen "Apollo 13", right?)
  12. Yes. What I found negative: The break in the flow at 1:41-1:46. I agree with Rob1. It seems thrown in for the hell of it. The 3 seconds of silence from 2:09-2:12. I thought the song was over! Subjective: The last 7 seconds that have the barely audible piano is a bit of a teaser, but I like that concept so I won't nit-pick it too much. It's a good tune and a great mix. btw...the nsf is on zophar's and believe it or not, I was listening to that more than the rearranged track!
  13. I suppose it matters no longer. 4/7 have said no. So "White Rabbit" is a no go...
  14. Okay. He sent it. Here is the text of his letter That probably explains why orky and I couldn't access the submission. We got there too late... Anyway since I'm working from 3pm-3am(EST) and I've only caught Dan on mIRC so far, I'm gonna have to ask CotMM if he wouldn't mind hosting the ROM (do you sense a pattern here?). I've emailed it to the address specified in your profile, CotMM. Thanks again Hopefully this might help us out some more, Dan.
  15. Okay, I just emailed Gman and asked for a sample. Here is the text of my letter: Cross your fingers
  16. Borderline... I REALLY could use the original for comparison. I'm gonna email the dude and ask for a sample of the original through at least 2 loops (possibly 3).
  17. Ditto that. CotMM, would you be willing to host temporarily
