  1. Whoa, I really like this. The "delayed acoustic bass" sounded almost like bongas or whatever you call them. The sax has the perfect tone to it, and you bring in the piano at a great time. Didn't even notice that it was a piano. At around 00:53 it sounds like you change the kinds of pianos you use... And then you go back down with the bass at 01:15, with some occasional sax. When the piano comes back again, things start coming back... And I know why they're calling it "industrial jazz" now, because of that industrial clap-like sound in the background that always seems to accompany the piano. At around 01:57, you can tell things are really get back up, and soon enough all the intruments are playing in unison, with the exception of the trumpet, which takes the place of the sax nicely, with the sax still playing a few notes occasionally. I like the fadeout you used at 3:30.

This is another Mazedude classic, and I think it's his best work ever. Even if you don't normally like jazz, this mix has a great pace and a variety of instruments. Excellent work, Maze.

  2. i think this is prety messed up, and im going to get to the bottom of it

You didn't read the whole thread, did you?

Any chance you guys can do an 'unofficial' BT for OCRs 1000+? And have it updated every 1st of the month? -or- Is there another way of getting the 1000+'s without clicking on every single one of them?

    1000-1500

DJP sez he'll make an OCR01000 to OCR01250 once he gets to it.

I'll have to re-label the folder OCR01000 to OCR01500 and consequently change the playlists once it comes out though... Which won't be much of a problem, really...

  3. Excellent mix here.

Dr. Fruitcake sticks to a strong tropical theme here, while keeping the origninal tracks completely intact. Anyone who's ever played a mario game will be easily be able to identify at least some of the themes. The sound quality is high also [from what I could tell, anyway, I'm deaf in the left ear]. The song hardly ever drops off from its energetic pace.

    EDIT: Woohoo, first mix review!

  4. 00:00 - Not a bad intro. Somewhat misleading though.

00:11 - THIS is what I mean by misleading. The vocals are just...perfect...

00:32 - Kinda cheesy, but a'ight. You mix the original melody back in occasioanlly for effect.

01:28 - My favorite part of the song. This made me do a review. There is no word in the English language that can accurately describe this.

02:03 - Here come those vocals again. They add an emotional, even melodic, feel to this mix.

03:08 - In my opinion, I think those string-style synths are ruining the overall effect of the vocals. They'd best be taken out or replaced with something less frontal and less up-and down. Same thing with the strings in the beginning.

After 03:08 it just kinda fades out. Unnecessary, but you did a good job on hiding the needlessness of it.

    Overall - 96.5%

  5. Ok, just started the song [which is nicely done] over:

    00:00 - Nice flute intro.

00:06 - Here come the synths.

00:12 - Here's where the trance comes in.

00:19 - You mixed the electronic trance beat perfectly with the flute. Starts going up from there.

00:34 - The flute still blends semalessly. I have to congratulate you on this.

00:59 - I like how you blended some electronic noises in the background there with the flute doing its own thing with the lower-paced melody.

01:04 - Here come the synths again.

01:12 - Perfectly placed break from the happy-go lucky melody...but it'll come back to haunt me...

01:24 - It's coming back from the break very fast, which is a good thing.

01:38 - You took out the flute there for a little bit and put a synth in its place flawlessly.

01:44 - Here comes the flute again.

01:56 - I like the underwater effect you put here.

02:09 - You aded more ambient electronic sounds with a few appearences from the flute.

02:22 - The flute's back as part of the main melody here.

02:48 - An electronic break from the happiness that's been building up. After that, most of the instruments from the song as a whole come back and build up to 03:26. After that, it's like some underwater percussion instrument leading the closing melody.

Overall, this is probably my favorite mix on OCR, even though I never played any games on any Sega system. Very, very happy. The flute is my favorite instrument in this mix.

    Again, nicely done. 99%.

  6. This is T3H PWNZ.

    0:00 - Nice.

    0:12 - Gettin' started...

    0:22 - Excellent tuning there.

0:39 - Sounds like a synth duet. Cool.

    1:20 - Perfect! I love this part!

1:48 - A pause??? In a DANCE mix??? What am I supposed to do, just STAND there???? [heh, just kidding! this is nicely placed.]

1:49+ - Climactic, sounds like multiple synths, and not just two.

Excellent mix, finely tuned, perfectly placed transitions. 95%.

  7. I'm pretty sure it's Koholint. I have a GBA and the Link's Awakening DX pak right next too me, but I'm too lazy [besides, I have a laptop in my lap and am typing into my home comp right now, how am I supposed to handle a GBA at the same time? ]

Anyway, this is some great techno/rave music. I often listen to this and Kakariko Rave Party one after the other, although the kakariko mix is better, in my opinion.

    88.75%

  8. This mix is much better than Disco Dan's Blue Lightning mix, partly because it's faster paced, partly because it isn't 8 minutes long, and partly because it's...just....better.

EDIT: I take that back. Stupid laptop speakers getting in the way of Dan's greatness... You're still cool though. :)

Truly a work of art, this was one of the first mixes I've ever had but never got around to rating it.
