  1. Sure thing! Glad you had fun. And I can't believe I made a song about misplacing my poop.
  2. I've been looking forward to this game since I first saw it appear in GI long ago. My only concern is if it'll be released for PC or not. I'll probably pick it up for 360 right away but I DO hope they'll have a PC version too.
  3. I can't satisfy everyone. I just do these when I have time.
  4. Get the entries for this round at http://epicgaming.us/sadorf/Flikomp/Flikomp8/ Another early evening edition, but at least it's something! Compo Date / Time: Wednesday, Nov. 7th @ 6:00 PM Central. This is a music compo that has no direction other than to give people the motivation to just MAKE something (something I have a problem with all the time). Instead of there being a theme of any sort that may cause someone to turn away because they don't feel they can make something in a certain style, they can just make whatever they want. I encourage original music in this. Flikomp sessions last an hour and fifteen minutes. You'll have an hour to put something together, and 15 minutes or so to do any quick cleanup and effect work and such that you couldn't do in the hour of creation time. We will meet in #flikomp on the EnterTheGame IRC server. Don't worry. This isn't some competition or anything. This is purely a way to motivate people who have difficulty coming up with music to make something. Anyone can join in. You may use whatever tools you normally use to make your music, just as long as you can make an MP3 out of it in the end so everyone can listen. When you make your MP3, it can be e-mailed to flikomp@gmail.com (unless stated to send it elsewhere), or uploaded to a server of your choice and the link sent to me. Name your file "yournickname - Flikomp# - yoursongname.mp3" so we can keep these organized. Once received I will put everything into a RAR file and upload it to my server for all to download. If you have dialup this could be a problem, but we'll do what we can. There will be a half hour break from when I get the RAR file uploaded so everyone can download it, and yes I will try and make individual files available in a public directory if possible. DIALUP USERS There's the obvious issue of upload and download time with MP3's. To make things SLIGHTLY smoother, please don't encode your MP3's beyond 128k (this applies to everyone actually). And since both the .RAR file and individual tracks are made available, it would probably be best to start downloading one track at a time so we can all start listening in a decent amount of time. I'd rather everyone have all the tracks when we listen, but we can't wait for hours if there's a lot of entries. Sorry Flikomp is all about fun. Don't fret if you think your original tune sucks. This compo is so you can make stuff and in turn get better! Hope to see you there, and happy music making!
  5. Download this round at http://epicgaming.us/sadorf/Flikomp/Flikomp7/ I'm going to destroy a car after work, and then FLIKOMP!! Compo Date / Time: Friday, Nov. 2nd @ 8:00 PM Central. 6. AUGH! Two days left and I haven't started anything yet. Too many projects, too little concentration!
  7. Download the entries for Flikomp #6 at http://epicgaming.us/sadorf/Flikomp/Flikomp6/!!! The question IS, will Flik's only local friend actually call to want to hang out tonight? The answer is likely 200% NOOOO!! So lets Flikomp! Compo Date / Time: Tuesday, Oct. 30th @ 7:00 PM Central. 8. I might attempt this round if I can get myself to sit down and get the idea out of my head.
  9. Huh, that music is actually kinda catchy.
  10. Yay! Yet more fun as usual! Thanks to everyone who joined the fun!
  11. Download Flikomp #5 at http://john.trenthian.com/Flikomp05/ !!! What? Flik isn't driving his soul into the ground this weekend?!! Guess that means a weekend Flikomp! 12. Hehehe, yet another fun round. Good thing I recorded that cat a while back. Nothing like cutting up meow samples and abusing the crap out of them. Possibility of a weekend Flikomp this weekend. We'll have to see what I come up with.
  13. Download Flikomp #4 entries at http://www.epicgaming.us/sadorf/Flikomp/Flikomp4/ I'm in a wiggity wack mood today, so perhaps a Flikomp is in order! Please note that I have updated the description a little bit, so be sure to read it again. Compo Date / Time: Wednesday, Oct. 24th at 7:00 PM Central. This is a music compo that has no direction other than to give people the motivation to just MAKE something (something I have a problem with all the time). There will be a half hour break from when I get the RAR file uploaded so everyone can download it, and yes I will try and make individual files available in a public directory if possible. I'll try my best to make this a weekly thing. There may not be a specific date set for it. Odds are I'll just make a new thread for it or something and let people know what time I'll be starting it that night. Weekends are iffy since I'm out of town so much during them. If you miss out on one, don't worry, there will be more! And don't fret if you think your original tune sucks. This compo is so you can make stuff and in turn get better! Hope to see you there, and happy music making!
  14. Survey taken a day or two ago. Can't remember if I did it from work or home, so the IP would be questionable.
  15. Bah! I'm still on 2.5. Software is expensive!
  16. Also, on the subject of file corruption, I think I ran across two MP3's in the project that had data "blips" in them from something. I think Haroon's track had one somewhere in it, and there was another one as well (I think in the first few tracks on the first Disc). I'm playing them on my Zen Vision W, and I don't see why it would have an issue. I'll have to play the tracks back on a computer sometime to see if I can replicate the bad spots.
  17. One thing to keep in mind is that this isn't actually a competitive compo. This is a motivational compo to get you making stuff. I should have posted the normal description, but I was in a hurry. I generally announce this compo on the same day it occurs, as I'll suddenly be in the mood or have time to do it. I'm going to try and have a weekend version sometime so more can join in. I'll probably also go back to posting the announcement thread in the community forum instead of here, so keep an eye out there for it. Oh, and look at the first post here for the results of round 3!
  18. EDIT: Get the results of round #3 at http://epicgaming.us/sadorf/Flikomp/Flikomp3/ I've got a busy night, so lets try and do an early one. Not sure if many can make it, but we'll try anyway. So, 5:30 PM Central tonight, #flikomp on the ETG server!
  19. Another fun round! Download link for the entries is at the top of the thread. I may have the chat log later.
  20. Download round #2 at http://epicgaming.us/sadorf/Flikomp/Flikomp2/ Might have the chat log for download later. I have a busy night of breaking things, but lets see if we can fit in some musical fun too! Compo Date / Time: October 9th, 8:00 PM Central This is a music compo that has no direction other than to give people the motivation to just MAKE something (something I have a problem with all the time). Instead of there being a theme of any sort that may cause someone to turn away because they don't feel they can make something in a certain style, they can just make whatever they want. 21. Or just take into consideration that this theme was a bust. If you gave three weeks for people to make something for this theme and only ONE person submitted something, that says something about the theme. Sorry if this offends the person who made the theme but you have to face the facts that not every theme works. I say we not consider the one entry the winner because there was no competition. Lets consider them the only person who made an entry and move on.
  22. The results of this joyous occasion are on page one!
  23. Awesome work everyone! I know this wasn't the most organized, especially when it came to getting the files to me and my server having issues, but overall I think this went great. We'll get the bugs worked out a bit and definitely do this some more. Sometime tomorrow when work isn't killing me I'll post the RAR file and the chat log. But for now, SLEEP.
  24. To make this a bit more accommodating I moved the start time ahead to 11:00 PM Central.
