  1. I think this is a good mix. It has a lot of interesting elements to it, like the filter sweeps and whatnot. I don't think this was meant to be a crazy wild song. The remixer kept breaking down then building up to add more interest in the mix. I think this can pass. YES
  2. This sounds great, but I agree with what Vigilante said about it being like a radio mix, but shorter! This is something that could be really absorbing if it were longer. There are 3 types of NO's 1. No, do something else. 2. No, fix this up. 3. No we want more. This is the 3rd type. More! NO
  3. This song doesn't feel evolved from the original, and the actual sound of the mix has no impact or warmth. I know what this mix lacks - soul. There's no passion here, no vibe, it sounds very 'made to order' - and I think that's where all the other problems stem from. NO
  4. This was a very satisfying piece. Not overly complex but it has that 'real' feel to it, it has a lot of feeling, a lot of emotion. You can see that I don't really know what I'm talking about. Oh what the hell, it sounds good ok? So YES
  5. This is an interesting mix. I thought that the bassline was just about ok to squeeze the main melody into. The bridge sections were very enjoyable. Although this has a repetitive element to it, I think the mix works. I find the mastering pleasing to my ears - a nice bottom end, although if the whole thing was compressed a little more it could have been tighter. YES
  6. Very busy sounding mix, at times I thought the texture was too thick, with all the reverbs and delays going everywhere. Percussion isn't doing much at all, but I suppose if it did there would be even more layers to this. Not bad, but the same synths just going on and on gets tiresome towards the end of the mix. NO Needs some more work.
  7. Wow great stuff, I particularly enjoyed the dynamics in this mix. I think this would be a very nice addition to the site. Not much to say really. YES
  8. Pretty good sound, although I thought the flute was a bit louder than it should be. The guitar lick thing at 2.05 doesn't go with piano at all as it's in a completely different key, but oh wait, suddenly at 2.14 it finally turns Jamaican! Now this is groovy, yes, but then it's all over before I can get into the new beat. This has some really good points, but my main gripe is that it stays really flat sounding for the most part. It just hasn't much energy compared to the original. As an intro to the upbeat section it works, but then that upbeat part is too short imo. I think that by changing the balance of the mix, ie. more of the bashment part of the song, it would have a much better impact. NO More of the bashment bit!
  9. Hmmm, well I posted this just a few minutes after I finished making it - a rash decision, seeing as an important part of the mastering process is to listen to the mix again and again. I'm gonna give this a no because after listening again, I realised that this isn't an evolution for me at all, it just ain't good enough! I should be submitting better stuff than this. NO! Edit: Thanks for the feedback guys!
  10. Wow, this is really loud! This mix is very repetitive, very very very repetitive. What this needs more than anything is variation. Badly. NO
  11. It's almost impossible to deny that this sounds good. It is very slightly off key at times, but because of the nature of the vocals, for some reason it doesn't bother me. Yes, without the choir samples it wouldn't sound as good, but Trenthian worked with the samples very well indeed, and with Compyfox's mastering, well, YES
  12. Something is very flabby about this mix. The timing just isn't tight. It's also been overcompressed, so it pumps, but not in a pleasant way. This is almost there, but as it stands, I can't pass this. Imo this has to be remastered. NO
  13. This is really boring *reads above comments*. Oh, is this a rip? Well it was really very boring anyway. NO
  14. I really like the sound of this. It has a large dynamic range which is very refreshing, and it's nice and... well not much else to say but YES
  15. This mix sounds good, my only criticism is that at times the drums were mixed too loudly and overpowered the rest of the instruments - then again, this is meant to be a stomp. YES
  16. Hmm, can someone remind me what our stance on DDR mixes is again? Well I'm gonna judge this anyway until reprimanded. The piano intro is great, and leads into the drum beat excellently. I remember hearing the song a while back in the WIP forum and thinking, I'm gonna give this a yes. The rapping voice is a bit dodgy, but the overdrive/distortion effect was very well applied to roughen up the vocal. Not much more I can say, other than that this is very good indeed. YES
  17. Hey, I don't know which judge to ask, so I just picked you at random. I resubmitted a song in early July, and got the confirmation e-mail, but it's been six months and it's not even in the panel. Link: Thanks for any help.
  18. This mix is good, there are just a couple issues preventing a yes vote for me. First of all, the drums don't really gel with the rest of the mix. Whether the levels or eq needs changing, or a different drumset all together, the drums need some more work. The click on the end was quite a shock, that could have been easily muted out. NO
  19. Ok, it's speeded up and in a different key, but it's still way too similar to the source material. I'd like to reiterate what GrayLightning said, that if the game is obscure remixers should if at all possible provide us with a source from which to obtain the orginal score. As for myself, I have learned a lesson, and I will not judge a mix from an obscure game until an original source is found. NO
  20. This does sound pretty good, but... (Can't help noticing that Protricity's judgement has covered even more than I was gonna say, even though I don't usually say much). I do think that Russell Cox can give us a more convincing Baroque. The main issue for me is the lack of variation given the style. NO
  21. Well I'm giving it a yes, because it does good enough, and it is from an obscure game, so extra brownie points? Or something like that.
  22. Ok, this is not stellar, but I'm submitting it anyway. Peers, I ask that you judge me fairly. Edit: Url change
  23. Hmm, I can't really give much comment on this at the moment seeing as I've never heard of the game before, and so do not even have an idea of it's style. I will see what I can find out about this before I make a judgement (if I can find anything!)
  24. This is a hard one. I like the way this mix sounds, some good ideas. There is a repetative element throughout, I think that perhaps a counter melody or something similar would have mixed it up a bit more. There is a feeling of holding back somewhat, drum kick and snare is kinda standard compared to the rest of the mix. This is borderline imo, but on the yes side. YES
  25. This has been through a lot of compression! This has got a good beat to it, but it doesn't really add a lot of new material to the song. There are a lot of mixes of this song on OC, so to get any more on they have to be really outstanding. NO
