  1. YES This mix has good quality to it, although the wind sound is way too loud!!! I like the piano work (although the sound of it is a little 'gongy'), it blends nicely with the drums, which are programmed with a lot of rhythm - and rhythm is one of the strong points of this remix. All the different elements are in harmony with one another, and the piece feels very whole. Wind sound is too loud, I say again (that is my one and only criticism).
  2. YES The delayed piano is very cool at the beginning, with a nice bassline to compliment. I think I recognise the drum set, Yamaha's dance set if I'm not mistaken. All in all, a well programmed and well arranged piece. Some instruments that play melodies might be a touch too loud, but that's it.
  3. For the first 6 seconds, the mix sounds promising, the instruments are bright and happy. When the drums came in, I thought they should be a bit louder. Erm... at 0.33-0.37 I completely lost the groove of it, either that, or the bass wasn't speaking to the rest of the piece as it should have. I think this is due to it being a collaboration - however, it could have been avoided. I have to say NO, in largest part due to the timing problem, but there is just not enough of the mix. More layers are needed, and it is too short.
  4. The scratch sounds are some times out of beat, first thing I noticed. The kick is very hard and very loud, a little distorted too. The samples are not cheesy, and seem to be in context. The thing I found unusual about this remix is that you have some really good sounds in it (voicy pads) , and then some very not so good ones(distorted guitar?@ 4.19). The bad samples are very off-putting, and as has already been said by some judges, the kick is a little too hard, and does distort the mix. It's not a big NO, but a no nevertheless. If the kick wasn't so hard, the scratches on time and all the samples high quality, I would have said yes.
  5. NO. There are tooooo many issues with this mix. For starters, the intro does not gel with the beginning of the song at all. At 1.25, a most unconvincing piano (way too tinny) enters the piece. Can you hear a 'wowy' bass that isn't in tune with the rest of the mix? @3.21: Erm......no. And the ending of the mix is just left 'in the air' so to speak. Not to be disrespectful to the remixer, but I think some pitch excercises wouldn't go amiss. I must say, that the drums in this tune are excellent, and the drum loops work well with each other and fills, etc. are well arranged. Shame about the rest of the insruments.
  6. The quality of this is very good, I especially like the string sounds. The amount of reverb used was just right and the song is mixed down well. The ending was also thought out quite well too. My only gripe with this is that I don't think the drums were appropiriate. But that's just my opinion. YES.
  7. Whaa, this is so much better than the last edit. And so much sub bass! Hahahaha. Sounds a bit like a Prodigy dance tune at times. YES.
  8. Flat, is what I would call this. This is good, but needs to be mixed differently, or re-mastered. The song as a whole just doesn't 'come out' enough, and sounds dull. The entire piece could sound a whole lot brighter. Very sorry, but NO.
  9. Well I've never heard this before, so here's a fresh view. For a live song, it has a lot of variation, which is good. It's not my style, but I don't see any reason why this shouldn't go up. Hehehe, funky bit at the end. YES.
  10. This is for the most part just a drum loop over the original game boy tune. When the organ sounding thing comes in (could be an accordion) it could definitely do with more attack - it comes in way too slowly. I'm not impressed by this one, sorry. It could have done with a bit more, maybe another melody, another bassline or whatever, but this doesn't feel like a remix to me. No
  11. The quality is good, and the synths well chosen. The drum beat changes quite often with fills and such, which brings the piece up a level. The orchestra hits are a good idea, and are mixed in well with the rest of the song. The mix is a little short, and the ending is unsatisfying, but other than that, this is a good remix. YES.
  12. I agree. This site is for computer game music remixes, and to include film might encourage people who only want to do film remixes to submit something and then say 'Well it was in a game, so that's ok'. There will be exceptions, but I think we should be clear on this one before we get more of these borderline remixes.
  13. This is absolutely excellent. This sounds soooo good, it's like professional quality. I've only heard this song from FFDJ, I think I'm gonna check out all his other songs. This song is really deep, and I enjoy it in the deepest way possible. Great stuff.
  14. Well Pizza, I think we're just gonna have to allow these things, eh? After all, the song is featured in a game. A lot of films are going to be made into games, and games into films, so if we say no now, what happens if they make a Sonic film with some songs that are remixed here?
  15. This is very good indeed. The dynamics are good, and the interest level is kept high by the arrangement. The quality is excellent, and the expression on each instrument is wholly appropriate. Yes.
  16. I like the sounds for this, particularly the piano. Because it's so good, I'm gonna be really picky. Could have used a bit more reverb on the strings, and, well that's it! Nice mix!
  17. I recognise that string sound, it's from a fruity plug-in. I like the string sounds, but it could have used just a touch of reverb. Nice arrangement, I like the way that all the different elements of the song bind together nicely. I like the ending, with that phase effect. Or is that a flanger? Yes.
  18. Hehehe, THAT 'breath' sample at the beginning. I thought this could have done with a but more punch maybe, but thats irrelevant, I like the groove here. I'm not a fan of voice samples within tunes, but this was done as tastefully as possible IMO. Yes.
  19. Oh, variable bitrate. Erm, the instrument levels are a bit strange here, and what is even more noticable throughout the song are the off-key notes. It's cool how the 'game synth' fades into the song and takes over at about 0.50, but it does sound off-key to me. I find this difficult. Ok, let me weigh it up properly: Pros: Good quality, imaginative, innovative, good arpeggios (sp?) Cons: Off-key at times, instument levels unbalanced, fade out not nice. I can't decide really. I'll come back to this one in a few day's time. If a decision has not already been reached by then, I'll consider other judges' thoughts.
  20. The guitar playing is very good on this indeed, and the snare well selected, this is a well done song. I give it a yes, although it would be nice to get a higher quality mp3. 96kbps? A bit low don't you think guys?
  21. Good up till 0.32. The organ does not belong in there, then it starts doing some weird patterns that don't fit. A piano follows, which isn't too bad, sounds a little cheap, and could have done with being pitched an octave up, with a little reverb. Good overall, but the organ bit spoils it completely for me. No.
  22. I really like this, it would soooooo smash it if it was recorded again or remastered, just a bit of EQ here and there. A yes from me for sure, but just a little tweaking......
  23. No. I can hear the fruityloops default sounds, and those hats are quite irritating. For a first song, it's quite good, there is a nice touch of reverb on the melodic synth. Bit more practice needed, I can feel some potential here.
  24. A bit repetitive, I must say, but overall a nice dance mix. I really like the bit near the end, as while some of the chords don't fit IMO, it adds a new groove to it, which overshadows any wrong notes. And this is definitely OC quality. I vote yes.
