  2. I've been listening to this sampler non-stop since before it was released. I'm damn proud to be a part of this album along side such an amazing roster of musicians.
  3. Since we sold out of our first run of cassette tapes so quickly (they were available for order for less than a day!) we decided to make some more! https://marshallart.bandcamp.com/album/marshall-art
  4. My band chiptune rock band Marshall Art was invited to contribute a B-side to a split single by our good friend AutoRemi-PK, and we happily obliged. FREE DOWNLOAD: http://weeklytreats.net/album/18-autoremi-pk-marshall-art SOUNDCLOUD: https://soundcloud.com/marshallart/the-lost-art-weekly-treats-18 "The Lost Art" was originally part of the concept behind the Marshall Art suite on our debut album but was left out in favor of a more cohesive piece. The song is an alternate ending; a "bad future" companion to the cheery anthem which eventually took its place on the album.
  5. Limited edition cassette tapes now available! We did a run of 10, and they're going FAST. https://marshallart.bandcamp.com/album/marshall-art
  6. That is the best praise we could ever receive. It's no secret that both streifig and I are huge fans of Chromelodeon, and I'd be surprised if someone couldn't pick out their influence on us. We got to play our Polygon Sun cover live at MAGFest 13 with Dino from Chromelodeon joining us on keyboards. That was a goddamn mindstack. We wouldn't be making music together if it wasn't fun! Love you too SnappleMan! <3
  7. Bumping this because the album is out! Marshall Art's debut album was released on Saturday, just in time for our MAGFest Chiptune Showcase performance. It's got wailing guitar leads, ambient drones, spamtron solos, gang vocals, noise freakouts, and more packed into 42 minutes. If anyone wants one in the meantime, shoot me an email at band AT marshallartband DOT com and we can work something out.
  8. EDIT: Rather than create a new thread, I'll just re-purpose this one. Given that our first OCReMix was posted this week, I feel like this is timely. Marshall Art is going on a (mini-)tour! My chiptune progressive rock band Marshall Art is playing the MAGFest Chiptune Showcase on Saturday, Jan 24 (a week from today!) on the main stage. We'll be playing a mix of covers and originals (including a song that's currently sitting in the judging queue). We played the chipspace stage last year, so if you enjoyed what you heard at our hallway show, please check us out on the main stage! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUuBhfad0Jg Moreover, we're releasing our first full length album via Ubiktune. 5 songs, 42 minutes of music (we're a prog rock band, remember?). It'll be a *FREE*/pay-what-you-want download via bandcamp, as well as a available for download on pretty much any major online music store. We're also printing a limited number of CDs for sale at MAGFest, along with shirts and stickers! Ubiktune has posted two singles from the album for stream / download on Soundcloud, check 'em out: https://soundcloud.com/ubiktune/marshall-art-asteroid-driller https://soundcloud.com/ubiktune/marshall-art-nothing-can-be-fixed-here-god-burn Hope you guys enjoy!
  9. My chiptune / prog rock band Marshall Art has a live EP for sale on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/live-at-magfest-12-ep/id940968194
  10. There's a little more to it than that. To officially play at MAGFest you have to apply. The MAGFest music department selects the bands that play. Source: I'm playing at MAGFest this year. That being said there's nothing stopping a band / musician from playing an unofficial set in the jamspace / hallway / chipspace / wherever so long as you're reasonable about it. One of my favorite moments at MAGFest 8.5 was seeing DrumUltimA and a few other musicians playing soft vgm covers in the waiting area next to the elevators.
  11. Ice Cave Chant from DKC1. Cory has a bit of a knack for taking songs and twisting them into arrangements you'd never expect, though.
  12. Sets generally range from 30 minutes to an hour, with headlining bands (ie Machinae Supremacy @ MAGFest 12) getting longer. Source: I've helped stream and/or record pretty much every MAGFest concert since MAGFest 9.
  13. I realize I may be a bit biased since I'm on this album, but this might be one of the best video game fan tribute albums I've heard in a long while. So many of the songs just *click* so well.
  14. https://bigmatattackspresents.bandcamp.com/album/dkc-mixt-ape-94 Just in time for Donkey Kong Country's 20th anniversary, Big Mat assembled a huge crew of video game bands and artists to pay tribute to the SNES trilogy. It's 35 songs (over 2+ hours of music) as a name-your-price download. 1. Cory Johnson (ft Marshall Art & Jer Roque) - Aquatic Ambiance 2. Super Guitar Bros - Minecart Madness 3. Droidekka - Rock Face Rumble 4. missingNO - Mining Melancholy 5. James Moats (ft. Dan Taylor) - Cranky's Swanky Sideshow Showdown 6. Cory Johnson - Maps 7. Droidekka - Bonus Room Blitz 8. William Reyes - Bayou Boogie 9. Mega Beardo - The Apes Made Banana Splits in the Crocodile's Skull 10. PokéMatt (ft. Lucio Baldomero, Dave Reardon, & Joe Corbett) - Primal Rave 11. missingNo - Mill Fever 12. Wild Gunmen - Funky Flights 13. Droidekka - Snakey Shantilou 14. James Moats - Schoolhouse Harmony 15. The World is Rare - Krunky 16. Eight Bit Disaster - Island Swag 17. DJ SonikBuster - KRooK 'n KluBBa DJSbK Remix 18. Droidekka - DK Rescue 19. John Weible (ft. Adam Henry - 'Lectro 'Nannar
  15. My chiptune prog-rock band Marshall Art will be playing the Saturday afternoon chiptune showcase! http://magfest.org/chiptunes-part1-m13 We also submitted a track to OCR recently, so maybe in a few years' time it'll be posted.
  16. I'll be going as staff and helping make the concert streams sound good for all you folks who can't make it. (here's one of the sets I mixed at MAGFest 8.5, for reference)
  17. Nice birthday! :nicework:

  18. You can plop a dot down on Ottawa, ON, Canada for me if you'd like.
  19. MAGFest was awesome. I probably saw less of the OCR community then ever this time around which sucks, but whatever, it's MAGFest. Just wanted to stop by and say thanks to anyone who might have caught my chiptune band Marshall Art play at chipspace (I know at least ONE of you was there ) I see the streams were linked a few times here too, glad you guys were tuning in! We (8BitX + myself (I was the only Arecibo Radio staff there this year) + Clipstream + some MAGFest staff) put that all together and it's nice to see people appreciated it.
  20. It's already the 15th in my time zone, so Happy Birthday!

  21. I've modded my NES to have three audio outputs (Pulse channels, Tri/Noise/DPCM samples, and external soundchip audio). I've also re-routed the video connector to the back for purely cosmetic reasons. The main audio output still works, and the external channel (which is disconnected by default) can be switched in and mixed into the main output using the controls on the front. PHOTOS: 1 - 2
  22. Giving this my first proper listen now. First impressions: this is SEXY.
  23. ALBUM: http://krieger.bandcamp.com/ LISTENING PARTY ARCHIVE: http://kngi.org/p=4373 Thanks to everyone who tuned in tonight! As a side note, the fact that Manami Matsumae was listening tonight is BLOWING MY FUCKING MIND. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=560801790610867&set=a.289986031025779.78546.278348528856196
  24. http://areciboradio.com/ Less than ten minutes until the Krieger listening party!
  25. Hey folks! Krieger is releasing an album this week, and I've been given the honor of hosting a listening party for it! Fans of obscure video game music rejoice: their album consists of covers from Gimmick! (NES, and one of the best soundtracks OF ALL TIME. I'll fight you on that!) and Carrier Air Wing (1990's Capcom arcade goodness). It all goes down on March 2nd at 5PM eastern time.
