  1. It was a game in developent for the SNES. More of the story is in the mix's blurb.
  2. Kinda reminds me of the similarities between the level 1 theme from SMW2 and Bitter Tears by INXS. Very nice. Every so often I try to look at a song outside my main focus and this one is very good.
  3. Very nice. I wish I were more familiar with the original work so I could give better commentary, but strictly from a blind listening, the remixer made very good use of the piano dynamics and tempo.
  4. Mine plays with a gap in the sound around 2:00. Is that normal? Otherwise, I'd actually like to hear this one played a touch faster.
  5. Jivemaster, Elle MacPherson, Priscilla: Queen of the Desert.... SNAP I'd almost give them Foster's, too, or at least the amusing advertisements. Really anthematic mix - just reiterating my appreciation. Don't forget INXS-they did a Pokemon song back in 1987. I didn't even read the review first (I prefer to let the music speak) so I was surprised when the lyrics came in. Very nice.
  6. Definite add to the station. I could see this being used in the escape scene of a movie.
  7. Wow. It's about time we actually got something in this vein. I'm going to throw this in the playlist and see how it does. -Steven Reich Former Cellist
  8. This would have to be my criticism as well-that was the best part of the song and to have it cut out just sounds flat.
  9. Nice to see some originality here. Should be interesting to hear reaction on this one on the station.
  10. Every so often, it's nice to hear a song that's not synthesized, homogenized, and moderized. It would be neat to see the parts decomposed, however.
  11. I've been looking for some new OC to put on my station, and this is it. Keep up the good work.
  12. Very interesting take on the theme. Kinda like soething you would hear a botanical garden. It would be interesting to have OC take all the main Zelda theme remixes and compare and contrast them. On another note, the review noted how people take a simple theme and make it complex. Anyone ever thought about doing the reverse? Kinda ringtony, but it might work.
  13. Man, maybe the the new site design just makes the music sound better...nah. This again falls into the, "never played (that part of) the game but the remix kicks butt" category.
  14. The last song to make me feel this good was "Born To Be A Winner" from Pokemon 4Ever, and coming from me, you know that's a compliment. I may even violate my station's 6-minute rule on songs.
  15. Every so often, I feel compelled to look at a mix to a game I've never even played. This is one such occasion (I know, I really should play it). As far as orchestral mixes go, this is clearly one of the best technically. I could see this as the opening credits to a movie. That being said, I would have liked to hear more, perhaps a full movement with some other themes thrown in.
  16. Maybe, but you don't go to Nigeria and start calling people that. And actually the name only arose because that's where many slaves came from. It's not music (well, the choruses are, but the main part isn't). Music involves actually changing notes. Rap is rhythmic poetry. I've heard better-much better-in terms of rap and remixes.
  17. In my view there have always been two types of controversy: Controversy with a purpose and without. The former can be thought-provoking, infomative, etc. while the latter is just pointless. This is the latter. Now, I'll admit, I don't like rap that much (it's more fun to do than listen to), but really, there's no reason for the N-word to be used in this song-it doesn't accomplish anything, it doesn't add anything, it's just there. That being said, the remix itself is kinda so-so, although it's one of the better rap "songs" I've heard. And it was nice to hear some vocals in a Remix for once. However, I think the effort could be better applied. By the way, I like to interpet swear words in terms of what they really mean. So, um, what do African-American slaves have to do with this song?
  18. I've never even played this game, and I love this remix! It has kinda a live feel to it.
