Yeah, the videogame tournaments are a lot of fun but lag ends up ruining the authenticity of a lot of matches.
In chess it's just the same results over and over and over again
-
I think I have it figured out
DAS GUT MROW
-
I think we need some fresh blood to add to the game here.
We'll do round-robin for now (I'm at work so I can't make a new table), but let's do the round-robin --> top6 thing.
-
And here is the final bracket:
The seedings format WAS chosen at random from the four above choices by dPaladin.
metzgerism (9:29:30 AM): pick a numbercnidog (9:43:18 AM): eleventeen
cnidog (9:43:24 AM): (21)
Playoffs start NOW so play whoever you need to to try and advance!
Remember: YOU MAY PLAY NON-CURRENT OPPONENTS. Right now, everyone could play everyone else potentially, so if you'd like to play 5 people in a 5-13 race series right now, you can. The results simply won't be known until AFTER the tournament is finished.

Here is the final table of the round-robin stage. SoloGamer defeats Keegan for the last playoff spot based on points scored in matches. Vega12's games do not could either way - he is ineligible for playoffs and matches against him do not count.
-
hello overcloat im a big flan.
-
mmmm...the table looks more complete than incomplete now.
We've played a grand total of 65 matches so far!
-
-
You know what I always say...
-
Two big changes:
SCORING
1) Matches must be completed in full to count for points.
2) 5-3-1 system returns.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
1) Undecided. I may adopt the system I'd like to see for the other two tournaments here (round-robin --> top6 bracket), or we may see a double-elimination thing going on. It's up to you.

I've lost a lot of interest in playing matches for the chess league and running the thing. I think we've lost a lot of the spark that made it interesting, and everything is just too damn predictable nowadays. I really want to add to the spark that is the OCRCL, but the best ideas that come into my head are to play a bunch of different variants. The league is no longer fresh, and we keep playing the same 8-10 people over and over again. WWJDD?
In all honesty, this is step two of my attempt at streamlining all three OCR tournaments (OCRCL, OCR Emulation, OCR Arcade Games). We had to do this early to jump into the staggered schedule now, instead of in a month or so. Friday is the day we need to use and that's the day that we will use for all deadlines from now on (I'm hoping).
So what do YOU want to see from THIS tournament, and others to come? It'll only be three weeks, which I feel is a good time limit. Input please

OverClocked Remix Chess League
Tournament XXIV
March 24th - April 13th, 2007
To join the tournament
1) Post a reply in this thread stating that you would like to be added.
2) List your AIM screen name (we use AIM for matchmaking constantly).
3) Deadline for sign-ups are Friday, March 30th @ 11:59 pm.
Match Format
Use Yahoo! Games Advanced Lounge 7. 10/15 clocks, Protected Rooms.
Each match will be two games; once as white, once as black.
2-0 = 5 points
1½-½ = 4 points
1-1 = 3 points
½-1½ = 2 points
0-2 = 1 point
Undo Turn: Undo turn is allowed, provided it is done so quickly. An undo turn given merits one recieved.
Disconnects: If a player disconnects, they are entitled to a restart at the point of the disconnect or, if both parties agree, a full replay.
You forfeit if: you disconnect after a disconnect restart, you refuse to restart a disconnect game, or you refuse to reciprocate a previous undo turn.
Use of computer assistance is prohibited and will result in the banhammer.

hey guys.
Lost to salaxzar twice.
As is USUALLY the case, I'm going to stop support for this single tournament and not declare a winner (although Keegan was the most productive). As a side note, I'm getting tired of convincing myself that the chess league is good, and although I want to keep going, it's just too many games for naught now. I'm not sure how to fix this necessarily, but I have an idea.
I'm making a new thread.

Here are the standings currently.
We will end the round-robin on Sunday and start playoffs - and hopefully end them - in quick succession next week. Vega12's games will not count because he cannot recieve a playoff berth.
PLAYOFFS:
The Top-6 formats available (with semi-final match-ups in parenthesis):
Traditional (1 vs. 4/5, 2 vs. 3/6), the traditional bracket format.
Reversed (1 vs. 3/6, 2 vs. 4/5), traditional, where 1 and 2 switch positions.
Odds-Evens (1 vs. 3/5, 2 vs. 4/6), best for second place finisher.
Champions (1 vs. 4/6, 2 vs. 3/5), best for first place finisher.
Seeds 1 and 2 will receive automatic byes to the semi-finals.
FORMAT: First to 5 races (by 2) or First to 7 races (by 1).
Start with Mario Circuit 1, loser picks next track, no special circuit (same as round-robin).

Current standings are below, including vega's position if he was not ineligible for playoffs.
The playoffs are used to even the field for players that are doing very well but not playing a lot of matches. They are meant as an alternative to "Reports" so that we have a uniform and acceptable system of deciding the winner, without any subjective reasoning on my part. Again, PLAYOFFS are meant to REPLACE reporting.

Hey, we're going to announce a round-robin winner, then do another tournament starting very very soon - probably Friday or Monday - I just haven't figured out the constant schedule that I'd like.
This would be a rotational schedule that includes the emulation and arcade tournaments in the mix, with three-week schedules for each one. I just so happens that the other two tournaments have a fairly delayed playoffs coming up, and OCRCL is currently the least organized.
The next tournament may harken back to double-elimination.

Can I remix track 6 instead?
(listen to it before you say no
)
Ooh ooh I know the answer to this one!!!
No.
-
kamoh 3-1 vega12
Still, I won't be getting anywhere in the playoffs, I can tell...I need to get really lucky or really good.
-
Deadline.
Nobody else is allowed into the tournament.
-
I look forward to our match. It will be dead even!
Double KO.
