  1. It wouldn't be very fair, but meh. Play if you'd like to, and I'm sure that matches outside of your schedule will be taken into consideration - especially if used as bypasses. Linkspast, are you sure you can't contact any of those people? Noodle is often on, and the-almighty-tallest has already played a match...and Xerol should probably play DarkCecil, although I'd really like to get in on some of that extra action tomorrow (linkspast too probably).

  2. EVERYONE

Last Day for First Round Matches is THIS FRIDAY

11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time, which means that you only have a few days left.

If you are having troubles playing your opponents, then contact myself (kamoh) or Mewtation - Mew has final say but i'm sure that we'll discuss several things. This is known as 'reporting' in the chess league, but will likely be done a different way here (maybe not, who knows).

I think ultimately you're going to see some people credited with unplayed losses to bolster their tiebreakers, and some people will simply be eliminated from the competition.

Your best bet is to play a bypass (see above, contact me for assignments if you're confused), and keep searching for your opponents.

  3. Works for me.

Edit: 2 wins against amazchess. This new guy is pretty good, i just hope i didnt scare him off.=( Just that I was all pumped up after my games with Keegan.

yeah, talk about instant trial-by-fire for him. But I expected it - I think because his AIM sn had chess in it and everything I kinda lofted him at high expectations. He probably considers this a major challenge (I hope) and we'll see more out of him in the future.

In other news, The Rusty Buckets are dynastic. I may dock them their bye points.

  4. I'm really sorry about this, but I've found that I really don't have time for this anymore. I'm too involved with school, work, and organizations around campus whilst maintaining an active social life. I love Tetris Attack, and the idea behind this contest, but I really don't have time to unwind anymore and am thus going to have to drop out of this contest.

    should have done pool play...

  5. Yeah I had a problem With him as well.

You should play vs. Noodle instead. If Noodle doesn't show up, next is ProjectSpam, then PsychoNinja, then the-almighty-tallest.

(Yes, if these people AREN'T playing then I have no qualms omitting them and giving you valid matches against other people who ARE playing).

    XEROL: Bren.

  6. I have to say, I think Kamoh did a remarkable job of splitting up the talent so that, while one player might have a small edge over his/her two opponents, across teams, the advantages are negligible.

Yeah but I didn't do that. You can thank your team captains for somehow putting themselves in the 1, 2, and 3 slots (I put myself 1 because I figured the weakest player might be 14...which was true). This is purely coincidental to a certain degree - the entire schedule is made simple but can be horribly complex - later tonight I will undoubtedly be breaking down my team's matchups and seeing where we need points if we're not gonna get them, and try to give reachable goals to all my players. For example, my goal is 10 points (3-0-1).

    Some keys:

Teammates may not watch your game, but they may coach you from AIM or something. For this reason, use 10/10 clocks in order to cut down on the impact of teammate coaching. Undo Turn is STILL not allowed.

Reports are always going to be a +1/-1 swing. The divide is the same as a win vs. a loss, but the team not involved ends up in the middle.

No bypasses. The Rusty Buckets, for playing four less games, are given four "bye" points to offset the advantage of playing more games.

If you have problems, you should try and petition your captain for advice - but I'm usually the best source as well. Captains are marked with a © in the standings above.

The Rusty Bucket is a Tavern in Columbus, where JD lives. The Nordic Wegie is a cutesy term for the breed of two of my cats. The Married Woman is what Margo is.

Margo is still looking for a team name :P

Start playing now, and the last moment for games will be MONDAY, FEBRUARY 5TH @ 11:59 PM (pacific time). Super Bowl Sunday should never be the end of an OCRCL week.

  8. Frankly, I want to be on one of these guys' teams. Can we have just 3 captains this go around? I mean, I'll pick up the slack if someone has to, but I think I'd enjoy it more if it was just the three behemoths and some of us patzers making up the teams.

It IS just three this go-around. I just mentioned the two of you because I thought you had shown interest.

  9. Has anyone spoke to Psychotic Ninja recently? I PM'ed him about a week ago and gotten no reply...

We've also got an issue with LongeBane not following through on playing matches. He may yet, but Mew and I played a replacement (a.k.a. bypass) match that is shown on the standings.

If Psycho Ninja doesn't show up, then his games should be replaced by the following:

    the-almighty-tallest vs. noodle

    vega12 vs. project spam

  10. Grayfox has joined, bringing the number of players to 12, making the teams even. At this point, bringing more players in is NO PROBLEM, so if you have people or you want to join but don't want to affect the balance of the tournament, don't worry - I have a plan for uneven teams. I'm just glad that there's at least this many people.
