  1. I propose we get sponsorship from EA. We can have a twenty second EA ad inserted at the beginning of each remix (even the old ones!) to help with the cost. And then another one at the end of each remix. Fuck it, put one in the middle as well. That's three times the EA in every remix! Three times the income! Of course, as true to the EA business model as possible, we'll have to double, if not quadruple, the amount of work the staff does, but since there's no overtime pay, we'll save a fortune. (please don't do this, I'm joking. Oh god, someone's going to seriously consider it, aren't they?)
  2. Shit, even more info. Looks like some of the slides from the August 12th event are out. More info and a couple of new pokes as well! http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1261095 http://imgur.com/a/pwi1b More info on the new bad guys http://imgur.com/a/8yEk1 Abilities for the Alolan forms of Meowth and Marowak http://imgur.com/BfrstlH Info on a certain pokémon's ability in a Double Battle Video clip from the announcement video: http://i.4cdn.org/vp/1470863160632.webm or https://webmshare.com/XGRNx if the first one is removed/deleted. YouTube version here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BE8MqUf1Lts&feature=youtu.be More info on Alolan Raichu: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKecGyyOEJI&feature=youtu.be
  3. CoroCoro leaks are out, and there's some craaaaazy shit going on! http://serebii.net/corocoro9161.jpg Yowashi is Water-type and appears to have the ability to change its appearance from its Single Form into a larger fish, its School Form. So kind of like Ageislash from XY. http://serebii.net/corocoro9162.jpg The little sandcastle is called Sunabaa while the big one is called Shirodesuna. Ghost/Ground-type. And Beware gets an pre-evo that is the same type. Kind of cute, will likely end up being used because it's slightly more adorable than its fully evolved form. http://serebii.net/corocoro9163.jpg Here we see a new Alolan form of Meowth and Marowak. Meowth is Dark type while Marowak is Fire/Ghost. Marowaks bone is now of one of those flaming torches that performers spin around. That, along with Marowak's history in RBY explains its new typing. http://serebii.net/corocoro9164.jpg The new bad guys are called Team Skull, and have a pirate theme. No, not like Team Aqua. A different pirate theme. More like some guys out of One Piece than Pirate of the Caribbean.
  4. I'm going to invent time travel and send a GameBoy to your younger self. Until then... did you need a hug?
  5. My favorite Metroid is... Fusion. I know, I know, it's the evil bastard child (for some reason) but it's one of the few Metroid games I really enjoyed. I've played it at least eight times since I got the GBA cart back in 2002 and on my 3DS (Ambassador, baby!), whereas the rest of the series is pretty much one playthrough and I'm done with it. Prime? Completed the first one, almost finished the second never completed the third. Original and Super? Tried them... never really got into them. Though Super Metroid had some pretty good music. Metroid 2 on the GameBoy is a part of my collection, even if it's only something I've played a few times. Pretty good for the hardware and the screen limitations, as they used a huge sprite for Samus. If only one game out of an entire series can make me keep playing it, then that series has done something right, regardless of the rest. Thanks for some good times, Samus.
  6. I think it's more of a bullshit excuse than an actual concern. It's just a way to argue someone down on the value of their used game. Personally, I'd like to see companies like GameStop go under. Between their low pay, horrible shifts, that bullshit with having to use their own bankcards instead of direct depositing to your personal account, and all that employee mistreatment stuff, it wouldn't be missed. Too many people getting fucked over by such a ubiquitous company, simply because "they're the only around". Back on topic: Praise Arceus.
  7. They take the wrap off so they can take the disc/cartridge out, and keep the empty case on the shelf. It's mainly used as an anti-shop-lifting system. Everyone knows the cases are going to be empty, so the vast majority of thefts are immediately negated. The second reason is that when you go to trade it back in, they have the option of "the case is damaged" to offer you lower amounts for it. Third reason is the everyone from regional manger to CEO is an asshole. I hope in the future, Nintendo just stops using cards and codes and just goes all-download. The majority of the 20th Anniversary pokémon are downloads, with only five of them being from a store. Even if you count the recent Volcanion event, that's still 7 to six that are downloads.
  8. HEY! We don't take kindly to folks thanking us around here! You take your gratitude and get on out of here! Also, official site for the Volcanion event this October! Minor bonus: click on of the "Home", "New In TGC" etc pages, click on the glowing gear pieces and unlock some wallpapers.
  9. Check your PM box. Not you Pokémon box, because that would be silly. Though you should check any of those as well, occasionally. You never know when one of those little bastards decided to stop clinging to life and gave into the dark void that is the storage box system.
  10. I'm going for some tickets later today, no promises, but I'll see if I can get one for you. Also! GOOD NEWS, EVERYBODY! Another GameStop (and presumably, EB Games) event for October! Volcanion will be available for download via code. Unless you managed to get one from Japan earlier this year (or cheated), this is going to be your only legit chance to get one for Gen 6. It will likely be availiable at some point for Gen 7, but who knows for sure? Updating the front page.
  11. Seriously? Bacon bread? Is it, like, in the bread, or layered on top of it? Is it baked with the bacon or is the bacon applied afterwards? DETAILS, DAMN IT, DETAILS!!
  12. Well, pretending is what this entire thread is about. Calling common sense isn't really the point. Which was my point. I guess I didn't explain it well enough?
  13. You would think so, but we're living in a world where one of the most popular TV shows in recent history is about people fucking everything up during a zombie apocalypse. Not to mention all those games where you have to kill or be killed survival games like Rust. Human beings fucking loooooove horror settings. Some are even willing to pay money for the closest thing they can get to living out the real thing. Check out any of the zombie run companies. They hire dozens of people to be zombies, and then you get to run around pretending it's the real thing. Also, this is a fantasy topic, so "no shit" doesn't apply.
  14. Back on topic: Not any of the Mega Man series. It's either robots blowing up the world, or a world where humans are long dead. Oh, spoilers. Another bad one would be anything with "shock" in it's title. Underwater cities filled with murderous citizens, sky cities with racist nationalists (who are also murderous), some damn computer system in space (again, murderous)... the whole "something shock" thing is not people-friendly. Tetris would be a terrible world, mainly because there isn't one. Not by human standards. A narrow chasm there is no escaping, but then it starts to fill up until it it reaches an invisible barrier at the top, crushing everything in it. Sometimes the ground that is building up falls away, but that is only a momentary reprieve from the sky falling and the earth raising. Fuck that.
  15. I'm feeling flooded with info already. Each new video is dumping a lot of new pokémon and characters. We're at 31 new pokémon right now, and that's not counting the new forms. We're four months from release, and it's feeling more and more like there won't be anything left to find for yourself when it comes out. Give us some mystery, Nintendo.
  16. Or they just don't see any reason to. I'll ask Sugimori or Tajiri next time I see them.
  17. Oh, Surge killed them with his bare hands or with a knife. He states that his pokémon " zapped my enemies into paralysis " ... letting him finish them off. And since there is never any sign of any kind of weapons aside from medieval-level swords and shields.. I'm thinking strangulation or vivisection. Or he used a parachute cord as a garrote. Team Rocket's main modus operandi is to steal pokémon from non-trainers (who would be more capable of defending themselves) and then using them as either power sources (think about the Electrodes powering the Radio Transmitter in the secret base under Mahogany Town) or selling for money (the game center in Celedon City, for instance). Hell, their plan at Lake of Rage to force pathetic Magikarp into mighty Gyarados is so they can catch them for profit. Turns out Team Rocket is less mafia and more unethical business. But hey, it's just a theory. A game-specific, backed up with known instances and easily verifiable facts, based upon quick research to fill in any gaps from personal memory, but still accurate, theory. Thanks for reading!
  18. Not really. Even in the games, there are very few instances of pokémon on human violence. The only one I can think of is Lance ordering his Dragonite to use Hyper Beam on a Team Rocket Grunt in Mahogany Town. Even then, the Grunt just flies back a bit, and you talk to him afterwards. No injury. It seems that Pokémon attacks are largely ineffective against non-pokémon targets, including buildings, vehicles and machines. If you're thinking about all those times Pikachu used Iron Tail on a Team Rocket robot and it exploded, sending Jesse and James (and Meowth, that right!) blasting off again, I'd like to remind you that this thread is about video game worlds, not anime/cartoon ones. The cartoon may be based upon the games, but they don't share the same physics or rules as the games. So, therefore, it would actually be one of the safest video game worlds there is. Oh, what? Those pokédex entries about pokémon throwing buses over mountains and eating lava and eating people's minds? Dex entries are written by ten year old children that dropped out of school!
  19. So, more info on z-moves. http://www.pokemon-sunmoon.com/en-us/z-moves/ So it seems to be a matter of having a Fire type move on a pokémon holding a Fire-type Z-Crystal. I guess it will act like a fifth move slot, but only accessible when in battle and with the item being held. Also, they're selling a physical version of the Z-Ring that lights up, plays sound effects and vibrates when you play Sun and Moon when wearing it. So.. yeah. Crazy gen so far.
  20. I'm looking at the video and I'm saying "what da fuuuuuck?" at everything. Fire types becoming Ice types? Ground types becoming Ice types? AM I TAKING CRAZY PILLS!? That dancing bird has four different forms and types, and it's all about DANCING! A mini Majora's moon that turns into one of those star candies from Mario Galaxy. The yellow weasel thing from last month now evolves into Donald Trump. MAKE ALOLA GREAT BALLS AGAIN. (Yeah, I know it's supposed to look like an old fashioned private detective, but that hair looks more like Trump's. You can't deny it!) Mudbray is fucking adorable. Will not evolve. It seems the small sections where you got to ride a Ryhorn in XY ae really expanded upon, as you can now fly a Charizard and ride a Sharpedo. I doubt this means HMs are gone, but are used for very specific points in the game. So, there seems to be a non-linear system for facing "island challenges"... so does that mean no more gyms in the traditional sense? I like the idea of non-linear progression, but removing gyms seems contrary to the series and what they have stated before with Sun and Moon. "Totem" pokémon seems to be an attempt to have a difficulty spike, where you face a more traditional "boss" type battle. Could be good. We'll see. I'm not impressed with "z-moves". It's like Mega Evolving... but not as flashy and doesn't give pokémon new forms. (side note, I am hoping that they ditch Mega Evolving and just make all the Mega forms new evolutions. Most of the pokémon that got them needed proper evos in the first place, not temp ones. Make it happen, Game Freak!) And by the video, it seems to only be for the starters and a Pikachu... so, it's restricted to just four pokémon? Can others use it? It is based upon the move a pokémon has, or can it be used by any pokémon of that type?
  21. I don't know... being a NPC could be good. No one expects you to stop the evil wizard when you're just selling apples from a cart. Or restarting a reactor to get the defense shields up before the aliens attack. Nope, just sweeping this corridor. Depending on the game, it might be the safest situation there is. The world can't end if the hero doesn't start the game... Damn it! Now I'm torn between blowing up the world and waiting for someone else to do it!
  22. I'm glad that the shitty five frames a second thing from the trailer wasn't in the final film. I don't know what happened there, but someone fucked that trailer up with that. It looked choppy as hell.
