  1. probably half the reason that those programs aren't getting wrapped into linux is just that it'd probably violate copyrights in some way. a wrapper for a free vst would still be violating the free distribution method of the vsts, wouldn't it? since it, to an extent, modifies the vst's functionality without the consent of the creator?
  2. hey. my computer works.
  3. not only the hardware support, but i just like working off of a familiar host, you know? until they port something that i can figure out easily, i'm not going to switch. i thought that at one point fl was looking into putting out a linux version, but i don't know if that was for certain or just a rumor.
  4. i agree with you about the wrapper, dave. i know that a lot of musicians write using java-based music tools (neil voss, who wrote tetrisphere, comes to mind) but there simply wouldn't be any ability to sample really anything using previous equipment. i assume that linux compatibility for those are pretty far behind other stuff, like compatibility with a lot of the major games out there. it's a pity - i'd love to have all the functionality of linux and the cpu management and all that with something like fl or reason.
  5. i know that neil did a fantastic job with the soundtrack - according to wikipedia, the music was the reason the game was so good (lies, but the ost is FANTASTIC). i can't wait to do some work on it.
  6. from slashdot: "Keyboard Magazine has an in-depth article about the state of music production on Linux. While it does introduce Linux to the average musician, the article does get into some of the available music applications and music-oriented Linux distributions out there. From the opening paragraph 'You might think there's no way a free operating system written by volunteers could compete when it comes to music production. But in the past couple of years, all the tools you need to make music have arrived on Linux.'" link: http://www.keyboardmag.com/story.asp?sectioncode=29&storycode=17973 discuss. i still think it's too limited to use as a serious platform for music creation...but...
  7. my finals are done as of today, and i should be having a decent working computer soon, like monday or tuesday (barring my fifth bad mobo or third bad psu in a row) so i'll be working on stuff as of then.
  8. quoted from the rd and pkmn project threads... my finals are done as of today, and i should be having a decent working computer soon, like monday or tuesday (barring my fifth bad mobo or third bad psu in a row) so i'll be working on stuff too. aka, i'll take another track if i feel i can do it justice.
  9. wuoted from the rd thread: my finals are done as of today, and i should be having a decent working computer soon, like monday or tuesday (barring my fifth bad mobo or third bad psu in a row) so i'll be working on stuff too.

  11. my shoddy computer wasn't able to get here in time, so i've gotta put off till the next one. i'll vote, though.
  12. yeah, it's going to be a lot of work doing them because the ost is so damn good. it just means i'll be doing a lot less techno than i normally would have done =) honestly, though, it's a great game. really fun. probably one of the better puzzle games ever made, especially since it's just the n64 graphics that we're talking about here.
  13. ok, the final vote is in. Tetrisphere takes it by one vote. thanks to all that voted. i'll be starting the remixing as soon as my desktop is up and running...hopefully tomorrow.
  14. i'd love to have the refill when you're done
  15. i think i might actually get this.
  16. not on the list in the first post, or my pm box for that matter.
  17. if they ditch the cap, then they're still going to have to implement something similar to it anyways - like, after level 20 you don't get anything but a skill point (same as now) but your levels keep going up. i think that it'd be nice if pvp wasn't so elitist too, but it's like that in every game that does good pvp.
  18. you guys have until tomorrow afternoon to get the votes in, and then i'm just going to roll from there.
  19. i don't understand how they'll keep it a competitive online rpg and still make it as intense the whole way through without just having harder and harder dungeons. the whole glory in the original gw was that everything was hard, because you couldn't level up - it was all about how good you were, not how many hours you put into it. if they kill the level cap, it'll just be a wow clone. the level cap was the only thing that truly kept it based on skill rather than time in the game.
  20. the biggest new thing is going to be that you can play as different races, like the charr. and, they're cleaning up the gameplay so that you can do a ton of new stuff, supposedly, maybe including jumping and the like. they're definitely going to be adding a TON of new missions. EDIT - if they raise the level 20 limit, i'm not playing anymore. how can it be a true corpg if they let you level up to 100 or something ridiculous?
  21. that would have showed up by now, since people have posted his name and nick about ten times since the page started. the pkmn project forum actually has a word filter to replace 'fag' with 'prot', because i felt like being a loser when it started.
  22. 38 votes: anyways, yoshi's island has ten, fire emblem's got three, ogre battle's got one finally, lufia 2's got four, soul blazer's got two, illusion of gaia's got three, legend of mana's got two, neverhood's got two, and tetrisphere's got eleven. tetrisphere takes it.
  23. alright, vote on the list in the first post. pm me with your vote!
  24. i updated the first post with all the platforms for each game. if i don't hear of another big game between now and tomorrow, i'll start a poll to find out what soundtrack is the one to do.
