  1. Is it possible to import WAV's or MP3's to FL? i want to use pieces of other songs in some of my compositions, but im not sure how to cut them out of the actual songs...

Well, the basic way that I would do that is simply using the Audio Clip channel in Fruity. Just plug that in, and use it liek you'd use a sampler. You could theoretically use a sampler also, but the AC is a lot more specialized.

No Mp3s, though - it only takes OGG or WAV files. sry.

  2. While I realize you were going for more of a romantic theme, I really don't think the Jenova Theme works very well as slow as you made it. That song, well, it's supposed to be fast. If you take out the fast, you take out the essence of the song, in my opinion. It seems a little...drab.

Ok. I'm not going to get mad at you. I personally think that this is the exact opposite that you just described. As I listened to this, I found this to be one of the most exciting remixes on this website, on the order of Foray to the Western Horizens by mv, Ruined World by CotMM, or BrainSickMetal by Prot. The use of contrast, through the flashy, technical runs in the theme, all the way to the musicality that Noir exhibits throughout the entire piece really shows the a) skill of Noir b)arranging skill of Noir c)one of the most original and best arrangements that I've ever heard of a theme thats been overmixed and overworked by a variety of far less-skilled musicians and programmers. I give this piece my unqualified reccomendation...to the three or four people who actually care what I think.

  3. I have a question about soundfonts in FL. Is there a way to add vibrato(maybe in an event editor window) to soundfonts? It doesn't matter too much to me if I can use the mod wheel on my keyboard with it or not, just that the capability for vibrato exists for soundfonts in FL(and I hope the solution isn't to put a ton of pitch bends up and down alternating along the length of the vibrato).

Also, for soundfonts, would the Crystal VST (www.greenoak.com/crystal/) be a better plugin to use for soundfont playback?

I need to know whether Crystal would be better than the FL Soundfont Player since most of my sounds come from soundfonts, and I need to know about vibrato for the same reason. Thanks.

    Kawaru -

Vibrato is always possible by using an LFO, however with Crystal you can't do that. The best possible way to do vibrato is just by using an 'edit event' wave, or by using the Fruity Formula controller and using that to modulate the pitch or volume, based on how you want your vibrato to sound.

As for Crystal, i've found that its got its good parts and its bad parts - some are ok, some are just CPU rhinos. Take your pick...but SF isn't that bad either.

  4. I got one that I haven't seen in a while.

The boss in the game Final Fantasy 3 (thats NOT narshe) is one of the most difficult ever. Granted, the thing was a freaking 'cloud of darkness' but still - the freaking gaspass took forever. All I wanted to do was just fart the damn thing away. Buncha friggin idiots that thought up that as a boss.

  5. if you're going to pan in Fruity, use the panning knobs in the properties box for that channel - its the most accurate.

You're talking about the panning knob at the very top of the box of the channel settings, right? Will using this panning knob effectively pan effects, too? What do you think of the panning knob in the step sequencer? That's the one I've mostly used.

The panning knob in the sequencer is directly linked to the one in the channel settings. Also, you can right click on it and use the edit events box to do a lot of automated panning. it takes a little longer, but its better than using the piano roll. it works the same as the piano roll, it just works in values from 0-100% rather than notes.

  6. Is this the panning knob in the mixer? I don't really understand what you said.

sry this is so late, yosh, but whatever works. if you're going to pan in Fruity, use the panning knobs in the properties box for that channel - its the most accurate. the PanOMatic isn't all that great no matter how you tweak it, and the pan knobs on the basic playlist and the mixer are only so sensitive - not quite as clear as you want. If you do it through the piano roll, its pretty good too because you can control exactly whats panned - but your eyes will fall out of your skull after doing about nine thousand notes - lol - so watch yourself. Just use the panning in the properties - its the easiest and most accurate one to use.

  7. Okay - half these don't work! Did someone purge the threads, or did they just kinda die form inactivity and now they dont exist? I wanted to use them for info - whats goin on?

  8. I love this song. Period! I love the section in the middle (aroiund 2:00 or so) that its just the synth and offbeat chords - its incredible. Yet again trance comes through as the best stuff on the sight. FF musicDJ is the best at this kind of stuff for FF7 - thats a final decision. I really like this! And the great bass does help too . . . when you're an evil snake-demon prophet, this kind of stuff really its great lol.

  9. I love Starla - lol. I can honestly say that with Dune-Arrakis Wormsign, this song is my favorite. I love trance and analogue stuff, and this fits the bill nicely - did i mention that I love Starla? lol. Anyways - I love her selection of instruments for this - the Synth lead and the sound of the piano are perfect for this style of music. I love it !

  10. I love the entire piece! i love the atmospheric stuff (after all, ebing a prophet, I have to love entrance music and background for my new movie, The Prophet of Mephisto does Dallas) so I love it. LOVE THE BRASS AT :51! Its great! Can't wait till Master and Chief, Edgen! Keep up the sweet orchestrations!
