Fun fact: The halloween mod I wrote using SourceMod's holiday support makes the Horsemann appear on cp_manor_event... and crit candy as well. No clue why crit candy wasn't working yesterday on koth_harvest_event.

BLU and RED have restarted and are now back online.

Update just hit. Servers should be updating now, no clue how long they'll take. Edit: Server updated files but got a "Connection reset by peer" error at the end of the update and is retrying now.

There is supposed to be a TF2 update later today. Officially, this is supposed to fix the Diamondback infinite crits glitch. Unofficially, this supposedly adds new stuff for Team Fortress's 15th birthday, which is August 24th (tomorrow).

Since the old Halloween plugin didn't work how I wanted, I wrote a brand new one that has a list of maps to activate Halloween mode on and I installed it on the server. Sadly, I installed it a little too late for it to work on BLU, as people apparently switched to cp_manor_event as I was writing it. Edit: I can't say for sure that it enables everything. We just tested it on koth_harvest_event, and the crit candy was noticably missing. Likely, the Horsemann won't be there either. :/ However, the Thriller taunt and the halloween hats were useable.

I don't think I need to point this out, but in case there were any questions about it, exploits (like this one) are a bannable offense on our server.

Well, this should fix most of the problems with it, not necessarily all. Essentially, the webserver was serving the wrong directory out, so not surprisingly, you'd get "...download failed!" every time.

I started a thread of SPUF about trading it. On another note, I figured out what was wrong that caused replays to throw "...download failed!" messages. This should now be fixed.

Since it wasn't mentioned before, Thursdays update added a bunch of new effects for Unusual hats and made certain effects more pronounced (Confetti and Flies). Oh, and I just unboxed an Unusual Dead Cone w/ Blizzardy Storm. Now I just need to see if I can trade it for a Nuts and Bolts Engineer hat (preferably Hotrod).

It's on the server now, but the server needs to change maps once before it will show up in the nominate list.

btw, if you have an extra Villain's Veil, I suggest you sell it NOW before its value starts plummeting because it's in the series #27 crate.

Stranger yet, one of the items is Strange Jarate. I'm disappointed that there's no Strange Huntsman. I'm even more disappointed that Valve apparently didn't discontinue the previous 3 crates, so you now have a 1 in 6 chance of getting a Sniper crate rather than 1 in 3. Also, Valve, please die for dropping a crate for me as soon as I connected yesterday.

The revolver might not be as useful as you think. Seems odd to have a Spy equivalent of the Frontier Justice (but for destroying buildings). The -15% damage hurts, too. I think having new Engy weapons that use Metal as ammo is a problem. As least the primary will award you metal for the amount of damage it does, but 60 ammo to fire it seems kind of expensive.

Servers are attempting to auto-update, but Steam is being its usual wonderful self.

I agree. It got heavily nerfed between Beta and release... it used to do crits on explosions to people that were on fire (like the flare gun). Now it just does... minicrits, I want to say. It's like half the damage... 91 versus 48 I think.

The entire point of this plugin is to have Halloween mode during a season other than Halloween. It's automatic in game during the Halloween event.

Paranoid forget to mention two new equippable taunts... one for Medic ("Meet The Medic") and one for all classes ("The Schadenfreude"). TF2 Mailing list says Manadatory update coming later today. Also, I reinstalled the Holidays server plugin, so koth_harvest_event and cp_manor_event should now have some of their holiday stuff working. But it'll act like normal on any other map. Updated the MOTD to explicitly state that pornographic sprays are not allowed. I also added a note about the "no spectators on a full server" guideline (I hesitate to call it a "rule") that we'd been enforcing. The idling rule is now less explicit, as mostly we let the server auto-enforce it (this is built into the server, not a mod we've added, and it's been in place for years). Also, if you're requesting a reserved slot, it's a better idea to message me via the forums or via email (rbemrose@vgmusic.com) because I can't add them while in game and tend to forget to do it if I don't add them immediately.

Let me (or Valve) know if things are still crashing. Meanwhile, I'm updating the servers again. Any other Orange Box games may be crashing (CS:S, HL2:DM, DOD:S).

TF2 is freezing on startup at the moment. Valve hopes to push a fix within the hour for it. Luckily, when it does work again, our server was not affected by the bug plaguing older servers (including the OS FireSlash used on the other server) where they crash on start.

When Valve says "optional" they mean "highly recommended for servers" so I'm installing this now. BLU and RED have been restarted.

They're rarer by definition, and thus worth more during trades. Pip Boy isn't specifically craftable. You have to either do the random hat recipe (3 refined) or Engineer hat recipe (4 refined + Engineer Token) and hope you get it. Or trade with someone else who has it. Since it's also in the random drop system... OK, sure. Play time is over 1 day, which is good. I already added you when I added the top 50 people by play time.

OK, sure. No, I refuse to add a reserved slot for you... ... ...mainly because I did that earlier (see the post about me adding a bunch at once). Yeah. I just recently heard that they come in the Genuine Rarity if you use the code. Had I known that, I would have taken Braxus up on his offer of one (he threw out 5 codes).

Added. Anyway, I wonder what I can get for all the spare copies of games I have. Valve added this mainly because there's a large market in trading gifts for TF2 items on SPUF. As it is now, you have to use a middleman.
