OCR CS:S or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Plant the Bomb
Powerlord replied to FireSlash's topic in General Discussion
OK, done. As for events, I'm not on Steam at the moment, so you'll have to catch me later. I almost forget: We updated the server and restarted it to apply today's update before you logged on earlier. -
HLStatsX CE has been updated to 1.6.10, which adds the new Engineer weapons. However, there are two problems with it: Due to a bug in the way moving buildings is logged (or rather, it isn't logged), building buildings temporarily gives you no HLStatsX points. They used to give you 3 points for a Sentry or Dispenser, and 2 for a teleporter. The points loss for an Engineer destroying his own buildings has also been removed (-3 for Sentry/Dispenser, -2 for Teleporter). When this is fixed in the game or logging plugin, these values will be reset. Right now, Valve's logs don't track which type of sentry is built. Therefore, the "It's Little and Cute and Ben's Sister Likes It" award will not work until the logging plugin is updated or Valve patches the game to log Mini-Sentries differently. The above two are supposed to be fixed in the next logging plugin update. As far as I'm aware, the other awards work correctly. Those are: "Despite all my rage there's a Guitar on your head" - Frontier Justice taunt kills "Justified Kills" - Frontier Justice kills "Mixed ya right up!" - Gunslinger taunt kills "Rustlers Wrangled" - Wrangler kills "Slings Slung" - Gunslinger kills "Southern This!" - Southern Hospitality kills These will start appearing when the awards run at the end of the day today (21.5 hours from now). Also, due to an... interesting... bug in the way the Roll the Dice plugin works, it appeared that despite "rtd" being disabled, "!rtd" still worked. As such, it has now been disabled completely.

I edited this in just before you posted, but edited it out again since it wasn't there when you replied, so I'll repeat it: Get a Sniper or Spy to help. Wrangled guns go down for 3 seconds if the Engy on them dies.
-
Here's a tip: Kill the engies first. HLStatsX CE released an update to add the new Engy items, but I can't really update it while the servers have people on it. Probably won't happen until the weekend.

A required update to Team Fortress 2 is now available. Please run hldsupdatetool to receive the update. The specific changes include: Engine: - Increased the resilience of client/server data table mismatches when playing back demos. This will make most old demo files playable again, but with potential visual side effects. Team Fortress 2: - Updated CP_Coldfront - Added map to the default mapcycle and motd files. - Fixed a server crash issue related to increased maxplayer servers. - Fixed a couple Engineer building exploits. - Updated the localization files. - Improved the performance of the critboost particle effect. - Fixed a server crash related to carrying buildings at round start. - Fixed players picking up buildings before a round has started. - Fixed an exploit where Engineers could create level 3 mini-sentries. FireSlash already updated the servers.

It's advantages don't offset its liabilities. Advantages: You can lay up to 14 stickies. You can set off only some of your stickies at one time. They can blow up enemy stickies (of either type). Disadvantages: Stickies won't explode unless you're facing them or they are below your feet. Fires more slowly than the sticky launcher. Scottish Resistance stickies can't be exploded in air. IMO, the first disadvantage is the main reason people avoid it. It also makes it almost completely useless on CTF maps unless you babysit the intel.

I don't use it often... to the point where I crafted mine away when trying for a Golden Wrench (and just missing). However, I swear they were visible through walls prior to the Engy update. At least using my graphics settings (which are cranked fairly high since I now have an nVidia GT240).
-
Your OWN ScoRes stickies have always been visible through walls. Other players stickies aren't because that would break a game mechanic that currently works as intended... you're not supposed to know where enemy stickies are! Visible payload carts is new, though, and announced in the patch notes.
-
Actually, I removed the rtd plugin from the server completely now. Yeah, that's it. I definitely wouldn't try rtd or !rtd on the server when it's up later... and I'm definitely not on the server right now making sure I can adjust the rtd configuration on the fly and make sure it stays on between maps if you change the settings or anything.
-
Yes, apparently putting the cvar to disable it in autoexec.cfg doesn't work if the plugin is loaded on map change, as autoexec.cfg is only executed once on server load. Anyway... since the cat is out of the bag, this plugin is related to the event on RED tonight.
-
I thought it was you. Maybe it was FireSlash. Also: As a reminder, RED has the ??? Event tonight at 9pm EDT / 6pm PDT. Which involves some... surprises.
-
The stats page on the server now brings up a list of which game you want to look at, due to adding HLStatsX tracking of the CS:S server. The link in the MOTD has been updated to link directly to the TF2 page on HLStatsX instead. Additionally, I've modified it so HLStatsX will no longer announce connecting players, as per a prior request from Bahamut.

Stats shouldn't be that hard to set up, as we already have an HLStatsX CE installation going on for TF2. Edit: In fact, it's done. Stats are now being logged. I'm not sure what the current settings are for the in-game points display, though. We suppress it on our TF2 servers. -
I see... so when I put those same restrictions on BLU instead of RED, that was bad, but now that they're on RED instead, it's OK?
-
I'm sorry, I took flak from the two other server superadmins in private and then here in public for using a server plugin for the very reason we installed it for the first place: to restrict classes that are fairly useless in large numbers directly after their class update came out to prevent the server from being overloaded with them. If our goal was to turn both of our servers into achievement farms, congratulations, we succeeded. I also find it hypocritical that the same superadmins who set it up back when the Spy vs Sniper update came out were asking me why class restrictions were on now.
-
Re-add class limits please. Stalemates are NOT fun. Playing the first stage of a PLR map for the entire 30 minutes (more, because the map doesn't end) is NOT fun. Screw it, I just won't play it while this continues. Or administrate the server in any way.
-
We put on class limits every update. Besides, it's only limited on BLU.
-
The server's map cycle, which is used by the map vote, is current messed up. Valve overwrote it with a list of all the game's official maps, wiping the one we had before with some customs on it without keeping a backup... stupid thing. Also: Coldfront is an official map now.
-
Servers are updating now. Sorry, I was busy when they first pushed it. Edit: Fireslash beat me to it
-
Gunslinger just changed slots to replace the Wrench (it replaced the Pistol before).
-
Achievement descriptions are up. Oh, and you apparently can haul sentry guns around, as there's an achievement for getting a kill with a level 3 that was just hauled.
-
I noticed that drop rates have recently plummeted back to their old values... but Wrench #100 hasn't dropped yet. And is taking longer than the previous ones to drop. Is Valve trolling us now?
-
NO! They're spelled Scoot and Hoovy! And, I'm out until after work.
-
Well, I was still getting items when I checked a few minutes ago. I know I mentioned the previous time where I went to craft and heard the "Success" clip... Yeah, I had a closer one for #88. I had two items in the crafting window and my mouse was over the Craft It button and I was about to click when I heard the "Success!" clip. I should just stop while I'm ahead. Wth 11 left, and the next 8 will drop while I'm at work (I'll be gone for 9 hours, they drop about every 60-70 minutes on average), it'll be afternoon/evening in the US for the final 3, making my chances even slimmer. Explanation: I was trying to "game" the system a bit by trying for an off-peak time one. I'm probably going to kill that idle server when wrench #100 hits, as Valve is certain to reset drop rates shortly after. Oh, and if anyone wants to know which hat I got as a random drop earlier, it was the Scoot's Baker Boy hat.
-
In that same time frame, I've gotten 8 items and a hat. Well, OK, the time frame may have been closer to 10 or 12 hours, but none sounds like either the server got disconnected from Steam, or it thinks your account isn't connected (I had a time earlier when it was telling me that the server I'm on was disconnected from Steam when it really wasn't)
