  1. Same here. Occasionally, the board stops emailing me new post notifications, too, so I go "Hmm, weird, no new TF2 posts lately?" and check the topic manually.
  2. Thirded. Extra stuff so the forum will stop bitching about this post being shorter than 10 characters.
  3. Steel... you really have to know the map... and also remember that taking point E will win the match regardless of the other points' status. That means that blue can win by sending Scouts, Demomen, and Soldiers to point E (quickest way is through the building next to point . This also means that Red has to remember to guard point E. Engineer turrets are excellent at this, as are Soldiers. However, once point C is taken, bridges extend to point E, so it has to be more heavily guarded. P.S. Because of the engineer turret factor, this is also an excellent map to play Spy on. P.P.S. My Steam name is now [OCR]Powerlord.
  4. He needs your Steam ID number (which is STEAM_0:1:18703087 according to this)
  5. We also need more people to test it effectively. However, our team nearly took point E once with two Scouts and a Soldier. It seems odd having a point that can instantly end the match like that, but only reachable by a few classes (Scout, Soldier, Demoman). Also, my opinion of Granary has gone way, way down as of late. P.S. I happen to like 2Fort.
  6. It seems too many people don't like Steel or haven't downloaded it... we went from 20+ players on the stage before it (Dustbowl?) to 8 players on it, then back up to 20+ players on the stage after it (2Fort).
  7. I don't know about you guys, but I've taken to just connecting to empty servers running the maps I want to download and getting them that way.
  8. Yours too? Still, my login name and Steam ID are different, as shown by this url: http://steamcommunity.com/id/powerlord
  9. This is really going to shock you, but my Steam ID is "Powerlord" Edit: Oh, and I apparently need to play more, as my rank has now slipped like 40 places.
  10. My router has QoS, it just didn't seem to work right the last time I enabled it... it slowed everything down, including the ports I set to high priority.
  11. (Click the link, since the "standard quality" version is missing all the delta frames for some reason. I do actually get a decent framerate.)
  12. Yeah. Before I took it down, I would start the server using this command: ./srcds_run -console -game tf +maxplayers 32 +map cp_dustbowl Edit: -console is there because I was running it via the screen program, which lets me reconnect the console at a later time to send messages without logging in to the game. The actual full command I was running was screen -dmS tf2server ./srcds_run -console -game tf +maxplayers 32 +map cp_dustbowl
  13. As a person who sucks at most of the classes, you're forgiven. Incidentally, Spies are harder to play now that there's a greater number of Pyros running around. - I watched this video again just this morning... it has some good tips for playing a Spy.Incidently, to Bahamut: If there are more donators, do you plan on increasing the number of player slots?
  14. Hmm, my new computer wasn't too bad playing TF2 last night. Then again, I set my display to a widescreen resolution, but to one of the lower ones. Still, the animation and load times were better than my old computer.
  15. I'm well aware that some of the parts suck, particularly on the case and RAM side. I stumbled upon this computer while I was pricing out my own components (although I was looking at a Wolfdale Dual-Core because Quad-Core is overkill for me). I'll be honest, I never would have bought that system if it hadn't included the monitor as part of one of NewEgg's deals. I'm still using a CRT that has terrible glare.
  16. I've been wondering if death to kill ratios count assists... I've been playing medic an awful lot lately, and if that's so, it's going to slaughter my ratio even worse than it was before.
  17. Yeah, and this was after I cleared the stats where some of us were farming medic achievements a long time ago. Aethis was abusing his cousin's account (Cyrus) to do achievement farming. Since the server's not really being used as of yet (due to lack of interest over at VGMusic), the server's stats are fairly skewed. Oh, not that anyone here probably cares, but I'm finally getting around to upgrading my computer this week. The new one (which is due to arrive here on Wednesday or Thursday) is not the fatest computer ever, but it should be decent at least, particularly when you consider my current computer has been cobbled together over the years. The scary part is, it's the first manufacturer-built computer I've actually bought in the 13 years I've owned my own computer.
  18. Does this mean I can blame the server for me lagging rather than blaming my brother because he just reinstalled his OS and hasn't capped his p2p downloads? Well, I could anyway, but I suspect the reason I was lagging the past few nights isn't the server... P.S. Would the people here smack me if I mentioned I'm now running a 32-slot TF2 server with stats?
  19. Well, like I said earlier, you can still issue a manual connect through the developer console... you can turn that on in... lets see... Options, Controls tab, "Advanced..." button, Enable developer console checkbox. Oh and while you're there, enabling Quick weapon toggle is really useful too, since each button only has one weapon unlike Half-Life games. Then they can just press ` (or ~, but without the shift button) and type connect 8.9.9.102:27015 P.S. If you have a domain name for the server, they could use that in place of the IP... and I think it assumes port 27015 if none is given.
  20. I'm not sure if it's a server setting or what, but tonight, when the Epic twins were playing a bunch of sounds over voice chat, TF2's Mute Players did absolutely nothing. So, is this a client-side problem or a side effect of having alltalk on?
  21. I did some checking. The game definitely stops from connecting to a server when it's full. The exception is when the server had a slot free up since you saw it on the server list, because Steam / TF2 re-queries the server before opening a connection. As for SourceMod, I saw an extension that hooked into the user connection thing and could kick people off to let reserved players on even on full servers.
  22. Hmm, it must be something they changed just recently, because that didn't used to be the case. In fact... in my experience, it wasn't even that way as recently as Monday this week. Does this mean that Valve has ditched the Auto-Join system?
  23. The problem is that TF2 client won't try to connect if it thinks the server is full. However, if you have the developer console enabled (it's in the game's options somewhere), you can still issue a connect to the server through it, such as connect 8.9.9.102:27015 . There is a way around this, but it's not recommended, namely because it reintroduces the same problem you already had, but with one more slot.
  24. I don't see an option to remove pings from that screen in the game's configuration. Worst case scenario, before you go to dinner or something, have Steam start a verification of the TF2 files. This can be done from the Steam Games screen: 1. Single-click Team Fortress 2 2. Click the Properties button near the lower-right 3. Click the Local Files tab 4. Click the "Verify integrity of game cache..." button This causes it to check that all your TF2 files are not corrupted and replaced them if it finds any problems.
