  1. The games I've found myself playing over and over again are Ecco the Dolphin, Ecco:The Tides of Time just because the background story is really interesting to me and I enjoy the music/game play. Starfox 64 cause it's pretty awesome, as well as Sonic 2 and S3&k on the PC (to the point where I had all of the super emeralds on all the characters).

Cave Story might add itself to that list once I've had it long enough to warrant more than the token 2-3 runthroughs. I'm sure some day I'll get bored enough to try to speed run Ballos rather than my current 14 minutes, but for now, I'm content to leave it be.

I guess the list would be longer, but I don't really think stuff like Mario Kart/party, Smash bros and the like would count since they're kind of party games rather than play through a story games.

Edit: Oh, and SMW2: Yoshi's Island and Mario RPG.

  2. I really enjoyed the graphics in WW, I often like cel shaded graphics though. The TP ones are good too and have a bit of a cartoonie flare to them, but I honestly tend to feel more pull to graphics that are neat and stylized over realistic and textury.

WW amused me, had interesting fun to look at graphics, had good pacing and story, and while some people hated the sailing, I rather enjoyed it. Especially finding all the different islands/ships/submarines and solving the puzzles for them. WW is the only Zelda game I've felt very absorbed by. Granted I've only played 4 (LA,OoT, WW and a bit of TP)

I can't really comment on TP beyond the control and targetting scheme seeming annoying and clunky. I was playing it with a friend, but Okami sort of stole my attention away from finishing TP. I promised him I wouldn't play TP without him, so I have to wait till December to get back to it.

  3. I dunno about the case of the fields and tracks, but in the case of the pool, one of the reason records have been broken so much in that pool is because of it's design apparently.

Basically it's a "faster" pool. It has two extra lanes and is deeper than normal pools, so waves and currents and stuff created in the pool from swimming are less of a hindrance on the swimmers, allowing them to go faster when they swim. Or at least that's what I've heard. My physics master boyfriend says it makes sense but he's not sure how much of an effect it truly had on the swimmers times.

  4. well if you have a camera you may be able to take a decent picture of it, then fix it up on the computer...that's usually what I do to start.

Well I don't have a camera, even if I could though I don't really relish the idea of prettying up a picture with a touch pad using software I've never used before. I don't really find taking pictures of art rather than scanning it to be optimal either. :P

  5. Maco, try reading the article again, and maybe you'll realize that the bit you just quoted isn't a source, but a commentary on some of the responses to the fake fireworks.

I didn't get to see anything on the Olympics today, but it sounds like sad times for the gymnastics side of thing whether it would have made a difference or not.

As far as Phelps goes, it's awesome that he's an amazing swimmer and all, but I'm getting a little tired of hearing about him, it's practically all the commentary people are talking about during swimming. I think I've heard comment on his "wingspan" or his shot at 8 medals two-three times every night I've turned the tv on.

Edit: Also, ARG to the more interesting events being on a live stream that doesn't work for anything but intel macs. >( I hope I can find that stuff easily later on when I'm back on my PC.

  6. Man, where are you guys seeing the fencing? The only things I've seen on the TV here is Swimming/Gymnastics/Volleyball/Diving. (not that I don't like those events, Gymnastics has been pretty fantastic).

I checked the website and the computer I'm currently on is a PPC mac so I can't watch any of the live streams...is that the only way to see fencing or am I missing something?

Also to whoever said they thought the footprints in the opening ceremony looked digital at first, turns out they were indeed fake.
