  1. Okay so, I've been going on about how there's lots of free resources out there on teh interwebs, but never really put it to a test. Until now. teh remix I wanted to see how it'd sound without using my more pro skills and tools. Sequenced by hand in Logic. I tried stuff out on my keyboard but wrote them by mouse, no humanizing. Basically, this should be possible* to reproduce exactly in any AU-compatible DAW, and with the exception of some of the effects I used, any VST-compatible DAW as well. *theoretically, not practically. All instruments and effects are free plugins, I used none of Logic's built-in ones for this. Addictive Drums demo and Kore for the drums and percussion, TAL's NoiseMaker for the arpeggio chords, Elek7ro II for the bass, Ticky Clav for the e-piano, u-he's Triple Cheese for the lead, and FreeAlpha for a couple of backing things. Among the effects, KResearch's delay and reverb, and LFX-1310 are used on about half the tracks. Questions, comments, crits welcome. I don't think I'll do anything more to it, but feel free to pick it apart and crit everything for practice or whatever.
  2. Don't have enough "happy" tracks so I made this sample beat the other day: http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=10339594&q=hi&newref=1 Came out sounding like some Kanye West type summer beat. It's meant to be a mixtape track with no hook; just two straight verses. What do you think of it?
  3. http://soundcloud.com/aires/boredum This track was really made from boredum. *note the songe is not called boredom*
  4. Hello everyone, my name is Michael Levi and I'm a Commercial Music major here at Florida State University in my senior year. I am currently taking lessons with the head of the Commercial Music department and he's pushing me in the direction I want to go, that is, wanting to produce music for video games. This semester he has been making me take short 1-2 minute clips from video games and rewrite the music over them with original music. I already have some clips that I've rewritten and uploaded so far on my youtube account: - Game clip is Arni Village from Chrono Cross - Game clip is just a trailer from an Initial D game - Game clip is the Halo 2 title screenand lastly - This is the animated opening to Megaman 8!!(sorry about the sound quality, youtube tends to do that) If you'd like to check them out that would be great. This is just demo material that I would eventually send off to a video game company. I would also like to ask if there is anyone who knows how to get into the video game industry as a composer. This will be my career of choice and I am proud to make that decision. Any comments/feedback is much appreciated. Thank you.
  5. Hey guys and girls, This is my first submitted work. I just finished my latest and final version of Battle Not Alone! A rearrangement of FINAL FANTASY IX Battle theme and Your Not Alone! A track influenced by epic soundtrack and trailer music. I made this back in 2009 but since i had time again for one of my biggest hobbies, music, i wanted to rework this one to make it more interesting. The most challenging was balancing out the metal and orchestra part. Both volume- and melody-wise. Im very happy that i managed to keep the volume on a punchy level without destroying it with loudness (+0db) Battle Not Alone! (Final Version) Genre: Soundtrack (Metal, Orchestra) Arranged by: Final FanTim Composed by: Nobuo Uematsu Game: FINAL FANTASY IX Tracks: Battle Theme, Your Not Alone Inspiration: Hans Zimmer, Thomas Bergeson (Two Steps From Hell, trailer music) (please watch on 480p or higher quality) Should i submit it to the OCRemix crew? I hope you enjoy and feedback is always welcome
  6. I tried to write jazz awhile back and this was the result >_< I know, not really jazzy, but none the less I wanted feedback:
  7. Whats up everyone, this is my take on the classic Green Hill Zone stage from Sonic the Hedgehog (1991). This is also a concept theme for Sonic & Amy. It has a smooth jazzy J-pop flavor to it (like most of my music), yet I kept it somewhat simple and short (yet effective). I also tried to capture that peaceful & fun feeling this stage and game gave me when I first experienced it 20 years ago as a kid. I dont know what else to say about it...ill let the music & video explain the rest. Enjoy! - A Emcee Muzik.
  8. Greetings! I'm quite new to OCRemix, so I figured I would start things off with my first two original tracks. All these tracks are hosted at the Newgrounds Audio Portal for now. My sound font of choice is currently WinGroove Software Synthesizer V0.A4 "Industrial Ruins" http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/378759 This is my first original tune and it was composed in a day after figuring out how to operate my MIDI-sequencing program, Music Studio Independence. If you ask me, this song would be fitting as the BGM for the ruins of an alien or advanced civilization. What wonders will you discover? What horrors await you in the dark, metallic depths? "Reploid Deployment" http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/390747 This song is inspired by the SNES Megaman X games. If you ask me, it would be pretty good as the intro stage to one of these games. I've actually had this tune in my head for several years, but I only recently figured out how to sequence my own MIDI files. Constructice criticism is appreciated, especially as I still have a lot to learn when it comes to working with MIDI files. I hope you enjoy my first compositions.
  9. Hey! Reunion Netlabel is where you find free electronic music, released at a steady pace, with HQ music from many people from this community, but also from the net label/demo scene/music scene in general. Check us out, OK!? http://reuniverse.org (170+ FREE tracks!) -.------------------------------------------------------------ This is the last remix we post on Reunion for this february spam thing we just did. It had to be done, so don't hate. Jonatonic is Myself while working in Pro Tools (this is completely new news, really, even to myself). I decided a long time ago that "Platonist" would only refer to my impulse tracker based music. hence, this release needed another pseudonym. My lecturer composed the original for us to remix as an assignment at the university where i study the arts of music production. the result was cool, i decided to release it as a bootleg. have fun! http://reuniverse.org http://reunion.sgxmusic.com/rnx/rnx009%20-%20Patrik%20Ahlm%20-%20Midiarr3%20(Jonatonic%27s%20Traveller%20reNix).mp3
  10. Brand new sample beat I made: http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=10314620&q=hi Came out sounding like some Just Blaze party beat....what do you think?
  11. http://soundcloud.com/fli/horny http://soundcloud.com/fli/back-to-basics http://soundcloud.com/fli/ra Just a few things I've made recently, I thought I made this post once before but apparently not.
  12. Wu-Tang type beat I made the other day: http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=10256562&q=hi No samples used! What do you think of it?
  13. hey there, one of my older ones but i think it could use a critique of the skilled crowd on ocremix so i used flstudio 9 for this along with these vsts: autotuner (i know it's played out, but i have a sucky voice ) fpc (1 drum loop thoroughout the song) various settings from my fav VST -- Vanguard other various effects in FL Studio... http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/WiKiD/music/play569012
  14. So this reminded me of the ocean. It's a more mellow track than what I'd usually do. I had to throw in a guitar solo too. Not a shredding one but a mellow, almost bluesy thing. Tell me what you think
  15. And now... for something completely different. http://soundcloud.com/retrotation/poppyseed-electro-nintendo
  16. This was included in my NES medley but it is the same orchestration and arrangement. Arranged by Richard Jacques and Cody Chavez Inspired by Video Games Live Performed by the St. Mary's University Winds Orchestra http://soundcloud.com/mrtrent/punch-out-nes-ending-theme-for
  17. I've taken some time off from remixing, but I just couldn't pass up the inspiration I got for this. http://tindeck.com/listen/ogpr This is the start of a chippy remix of the Abandoned Ship theme from Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. Well. . . Sort of half chippy. . . I seriously don't know what genre my music is. Could somebody please tell me if they know? hahahaha This is not complete yet. . .I intend to add at least a minute's worth material to it before it's completed. And polish a lot of stuff. . . And here's the source track: for anyone who needs it
  18. This is a remix of Akai Tsuki from Disgaea. Some of you may know of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5DBD7lWtag
  19. This was included in my NES medley but it is the same orchestration and arrangement. Arranged by Richard Jacques and Cody Chavez Inspired by Video Games Live Performed by the St. Mary's University Winds Orchestra http://soundcloud.com/mrtrent/punch-out-nes-ending-theme-for
  20. This is an arrangement I created with some help from award winning video game composer, Richard Jacques, who has worked with Video Games Live to bring us the Sonic Medley and Classic Arcade Medley, on which this arrangement is based. Here is the mp3 http://soundcloud.com/mrtrent/nes-concert-winds-medley This can really only be enjoyed by watching it live though. I designed a video to be synced with what the band is playing, but they changed some tempos so it gets out of sync around megaman. Performed by the St. Mary's University Concert Band http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5yoCIOjKgA
  21. I made this and now I'm waiting for it to hopefully get approved by the judges.. who knows, hopefully. Constructive criticism would be appreciated.
  22. Was playing Black Ops the other day and it was frustrating as hell!! couldn't get any killstreaks haha so the next day I ended up making this to get my frustration out: http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=10256561&q=hi What do you think of it?
  23. Now all my music gear is reinstalled! I did a little and repetitive track just to test some new effects in FL Studio and improve a bit my skills! As for the genre, it's like a big mix of a lot of stuff lol. Enjoy!
  24. This is "This Is Your Home" from Final Fantasy 13 arranged for strings. It's a performance quartet, which means I programmed it so that I just played it right through my keyboard. I used Reason 4 with Miroslav. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6XFbJoKct0
  25. Recently, I put together a cover of Simon's Theme as a concept piece to go with an article I wrote on IGN about recent industry buzz that developers are considering a "Nintendo Vs. Capcom" fighting game eventually. I hope you like it. Cheers. Higher Res Version: http://www.kongregate.com/collabs/sounds/Kamasenin/simons-theme-super-castlevania-4-remix?sort=by_newest Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRHGG3TNSPg&feature=watch_response (Note: I've been trying like hell to use Vegas Pro 10 to create a youtube version with as little quality loss as possible while keeping the size down. If you have a rendering configuration that works really good for you, please let me know. Thank you.)
