I'm under 21, but a bar should let me in anyway as long as I don't try to get anything.

Also, I'd prefer cheaper tickets, but I can borrow the money or sell plasma or some shit if I have to. Oh, and my brother might be coming with me.

Going to the bar sounds good enough, so long as it stays somewhere near the hotel. Louisville can get rough if you stray away from the beaten path. There was this one time, where some jerk hit me in the head with a rock after trying to intimidate me into giving him money. Glad I got out of there fast. I'm not trying to scare anyone, but alcohol and slum-y neighborhoods can lead to trouble.

Damn, man.

Yeah, Louisville can suck, but supposedly, it has a relatively low crime rate for a city of its size. Which probably just means incompetent cops, but it's still a comforting statistic. Do we have anyone coming from St. Louis or Detroit? They could probably conquer the place.

Not to mention that we'll be in a group, right? As long as no one goes wandering around the west end alone (that's not just a cliche; it really is a hellhole), I think we'll be okay.

Well, to be perfectly honest:

1) I'm kind of a square.

2) I don't actually live in Louisville yet.

So I don't know as much about it as someone who actually lives there. I spend most of my time on the other side of the Ohio River, in scenic-but-boring southern Indiana. Anyway, a few of my friends have recommended this place called Cafe 360. It's a (I'm not sure exactly how to call it...) hookah place. I've been meaning to go in there sometime, even though I'm not into hookah. The atmosphere is awesome, by all accounts, and it seems like a pretty good place just to chill out.

The problem is, VGL is going to be at the Kentucky Center for the Arts, and that's pretty far from Cafe 360 (too far to walk). However, it's (the cafe, I mean) on Bardstown Road, which is full of all kinds of little shops, restaurants, and what-have-you. There's bound to be something to do over there somewhere. I'll ask around and/or scout it out (finals are just finishing up, so I should have time).

Um, as far as bars go, I'm a square, like I said. The only one I know anything about is O'Malley's, which is very close to where VGL will be. It's actually a few bars/clubs in one. If you guys want to go there, I promise I won't be pissed. It looks like I'm the only one under 21 in the group anyway. But, I think it will be VERY crowded on a Friday night. As far as I know, the place(s) is always packed, actually.

It feels like I'm forgetting something too. I'll have to ask some people from school who actually live in Kentucky. There has already been some votes for or against going to an actual bar, but what's the word on Cafe 360? Apparently the hookah is a big part of it, so there's much less of a draw if you don't smoke. But they've got food too, and we'd really be there mostly to hang out anyway.

While I was typing that, I realized what I'd forgotten. On my side of the river, in New Albany, IN, there's a jazz club called Speakeasy. Obviously, it's too far to walk, but we could drive there in around half an hour. This would be my first choice, but they close at midnight and it's a bit out of the way for you guys. The place is awesome though.

Well, concert starts at 8:00 and lasts for about 2 1/2 hours, so say we get out of the hall around 11:15. If worst comes to worst, we can always just hang out at the hotel later (bring game systems with us, play cards (euchre!), or whatever). Just seems kinda crappy to finally get out to a meetup and then just hit up a bar. I'm sure we'll be hungry afterwards, maybe there's a steak n' shake or something in the area?

actually, this seems like the best game plan, IMO. it's pretty much what we've done at all the other meetups (that I've attended) and it works out nicely.

So, something along the lines of:

-Food

-Concert

-Food

-Hang out (video games, cards, collab, whatever)

-Sleep

Obviously, as details unfold and we see exactly what everyone's availability is, we can get more specific.

I'm up for going to the hookah bar, but I'm also up for just hanging out at a regular bar as well. I guess it just depends if I feel chilled out after the concert or riled up. Ultimately, though, it's going to depend on the transportation, because if there's no one to take us to the Bardstown area, none of us will go.

Still, making plans for after the concert seems secondary when the details for actually attending the concert aren't yet finalized. What's the deal with the tickets, BGC? I vote for group seating in the $48 sections. What about everyone else?

Want Group Seating / $48 Section

Will Share Hotel

Need Transportation

(Did this to give BGC a clear idea of who wants what.)

dude, i need SPECIFICS. you can't just post subtle hints as to what your intentions are. these vague generalities are not helping me any.

To be perfectly honest, this is pretty much what I had in mind. I didn't want to suggest it because I figured everyone from out of the Kentuckiana area would want to do something a little more tourist-y.

Also, I forgot about the casino in southern Indiana. They host concerts and stuff (Cake is coming soon actually), and they've got kickass food. I forgot how much it costs, but it's pretty expensive even if you don't waste all your money gambling.

As far as transportation goes, I shouldn't have a problem. I'm up in the air as far as a hotel room goes. I live like 40 minutes away at most, so it seems silly for me to get one too, but if you're all going to be at the same hotel, it would lead to even more late-night shenanigans that I just can't justify avoiding. I'd rather get whichever tickets are cheapest.

I know there's a Steak n' Shake (and it's retarded cousin Denny's) in Clarksville, IN, which is just across the river. I would assume that there's at least one in Louisville as well, but the way the city is set up, it might not necessarily be quicker to drive to it than to just go to Indiana.

There's also Fourth Street Live, which is another, more well-known set of bars and restaurants that are open late. That description apparently doesn't do it justice, according to the guy reading over my shoulder, but fuck him.

EDIT: Damn, well if you want movies, there's a drive-in theater minutes from my house, but we probably can't make it in time. There are also normal theaters all over the place, but they're not aweXome.
